Posted June 29, 200718 yr I'm looking to power a tc9 with a dual 1.4 ohm FI Q recone. instead of looking to see how much boom i can get, i'm looking for a little better sound and will be udating with the rest of my system, i'm just starting with the sub and amp.the audison is 900 rms at 1 ohm and the dls is about 1200 rms at 1 ohm. both are about the same price. I've come here because i know the experience seems to be concentrated here. lol. also on the list of keeping the boom up is the md3d and saz-1500d. so some people with experience please give me a little insight. thanks very much i apreciate it.
June 29, 200718 yr Admin The Audison would be awesome, I don't know DLS amps very well so I cannot speak on them. You could also look into Zapco Ref 1000.1 or something of that nature. The Sundown 1500D is plenty powerful for your application, but does not seem what you are aiming for.
June 29, 200718 yr Out of all the things that determine the final sound, comparing sub amps of a similar design isn't that critical...ours ears are very insensitive in the subbass frequencies anyway.I'd say go with whatever you can afford, or if you want a specific brand to match the front stage amp(s), etc...
June 29, 200718 yr Author lol well, i need a sub amp first in this situation. i'm probably going to pick up the dls, just because of the 300 rms more than the audison, but i'll acquire it for less cash. specs seem to be about the same.
July 2, 200718 yr Out of all the things that determine the final sound, comparing sub amps of a similar design isn't that critical...ours ears are very insensitive in the subbass frequencies anyway. The DLS is a Class A/B. Gonna suck some juice. The Audison is Class D.
July 2, 200718 yr Author i thought the audison was class a/b as well. well either way i went with m5's advice. i bought a nice class d amp and am planning on upgrading my front stage with either dls, audison, zapco, or zed. thanks for the input guys!!
July 2, 200718 yr i remembered the audison beeing an a/b amp. but in the last month or so, my memory started to dissapoint me
July 18, 200916 yr It could be an A/B. I can't find anything definitive either way on that.sorry to dig this up, but since i am trying to find more from guys that have actually used the amp i landed here. it's definitely an A/B amp and it is supposed to have a beefier Cap bank for strong bass. back in the day i had an old Sony XM5520 that was pretty strong on the lows and i was told they had beefier caps. has anybody here run one? thoughts? they are popping up everywhere and there are some decent deals on them. i am just curious if people shy away from this amp for sub duty because, it is an A/B amp and most people are running D. i am looking at adding another US Amps AX series for mids/highs active or going another direction alltogether- Audison LRX.
