July 10, 200718 yr Author Ok, maybe this blurry shot gives you a hint about the top box. You likey, Jim?

July 10, 200718 yr suweet! let us know how the midbass and high freq response is on those suckers. also are those the FR's or Wr's?
July 10, 200718 yr Author suweet! let us know how the midbass and high freq response is on those suckers. also are those the FR's or Wr's?I have a feeling that, in the application it will be used for, midbass will be a little lackluster for some people's taste. They are FR's and this is my 3rd go around with them. Top end is good, particularly for the size with no wizzer cone used, but it lacks a little bit of detail that you would gain with a dedicated tweeter. Still, the usability is very impressive, with good low frequency performance. If I were to have one complaint, it would be that the inductance is a little high for my liking, which is part of the limiting factor on the top end AND the detail. It has roughly half the Xmax of the AA Poly 6.5, but has greatly higher inductance (maybe they didn't want to drop efficiency even more with some more copper in the motor?).Still, I love these and am very familiar with them, which will make them very fun in the enclosures I'll be using.edit: Ok, enough secrecy to build suspense. The FR125's will be going in an Open Baffle design and the thing in the box....well, that's an ICON. Oh, and it just took 3600W a few minutes ago.

July 10, 200718 yr Author and the thing in the box....well, that's an ICON. Oh, and it just took 3600W a few minutes ago.you serious?-John100% serious. Speakers are not something I'm prepared to lie about.I hate you snookums. How big of a baffle are you using?Well, I haven't totally decided yet, but it will likely be something like 2.5 feet by 3 feet (29" x 36"). Might go a little wider, but we'll see.edit: I should mention I'm a touch worried about running out of Xmax at lower frequencies and will have to cross whatever sub I end up using a little higher than I wish; however, I think long term I will add a 10" bipole setup below the FR's.
July 10, 200718 yr I'd even go bigger than that...something like 15" Eminence Alphas or Dayton cast frames. As I'm sure you know, midbass and OB doesn't happen without some serious cone area

July 21, 200718 yr Author Finally uploaded some of the pictures I took earlier of the Icon. I have been teaching my brother a few things here and there; we started working on the enclosure for the Icon last night. I'll get some pics of that later.
