  • Oh noes ...

  • You have to realize this thread is nearly 3 years old. This was before Don had all the knowledge he has amassed and many of us were skeptical to anything new. Fatmat was and still is a joke. People

Well Steve,

Therefore maybe u should compensate people for your past piss poor performance.

I'm sorry if you thought you were buying the rights to "Great Proven Products", but that is far from the case. FatMat is a product that is indistinguishable for MFM Peel & Seal sold using deceptive claims by people who didn't know the first thing about automotive sound deadening. The new FatMat Web site indicates no real change in that. Better customer service for a poor quality product isn't going to make much difference.

Just to be clear, you are running fatmat.com, sounddeadener.com and noisekillers.com with the last two representing themselves as authorized resellers of FatMat. Looks like you have been the sounddeadener.com guy for quite a while. I was told you were friends with the people in Corry, PA who ran FatMat into the ground. Not true?

No. I did Not own the former company and When I said "We" my parnters and I that formed the new corporation. We are getting a positive rep just look whats being said on ebay and our dealers are comming on strong. This is why I posted on this forum. So people now know that FatMat Sound Control Inc. is under new managment. Thanks for helping clearing that up.

I guess I don't get an answer. Maybe more of a press release than a Q&A, dunno.

I've looked into this a little further. The new FatMat Web site clearly states that it uses a butyl adhesive but the illustration still shows the old P&S asphalt graphic. I figured I'd order a 2 ft

No word yet, but ownership of the domain name fatmat.com apparently changed in June. I say apparently because the previous owners hid their names after I started posting the fact that they were selling the same product under several different names. I believe the previous owners of the domain and FatMat itself were Chris and Tammy McDaniel in Corry, PA. The same town that is home to R-Blox and Sound Destroyer.

Now fatmat.com, sounddeadener.com and noisekillers.com are registered to:

This I would assume is SteveFatMat who posted here. Now for some intrigue. A few years ago I got an e-mail from a guy pretending to be an innocent neighbor of the FatMat people. He passed along some tidbits that I knew to be true and also said that the guy selling FatMat through the sounddeadener.com domain name was a friend of the McDaniels. Based on the dates for the domain name registrations, that friend would be Steve Galeazzo AKA SteveFatMat. After I did some digging, I determined that my informant was one of the clowns behind R-Blox, so take his word with a grain of salt.

All I know is that the previous owners of FatMat claimed it was a butyl product for several years even though several tests showed it to be asphalt. The current Web site has statements that can not be true and which came word for word from the old site. If SteveFatMat is a longtime seller of FatMat he has to know that customer service was just one part of the problem with FatMat.

I'll keep a slightly open mind, but this brand has a long history of bad service and bad products. I'm not encouraged by the pricing for the Speaker Kit - at $21.99, it is more expensive than a Dynamat Xtreme speaker kit. We'll see what our new friend comes up with, but it doesn't look like he is new to the FatMat game.

At least he is in the thread now and can respond. :)

Let's hope. Reading this isn't filling me with confidence - particularly the claim that the adhesive is patented without citation and the claim that NASA uses FatMat.

pretty interesting thread, I myself have never liked the fatmat product. So would be nice to see improvements

He's been in here for a couple hours and no response yet :(

I've noticed that myself. A few hours last night too, then off, so it isn't just leaving the browser open after his post.

I'd be interested if it is a legit product, it is extremely inexpensive in 100 ft^2 rolls on e-bay. If it is indeed a legit butyl product with a quality aluminum back it would be the best bang for the buck deadener out there from the looks of it.

Looking forward to some tests Rudy.

Interesting line of products.

Hahahahaha it's all a bunch of roofing products. Which would add evidence to the fact that Fatmat is asphalt based.

Brilliant.

Hilarious!!! The product probably in no way is related to any of his roofing supplies........LMAO!!!!! :shrug:fing05.gif:bull:

You can put a Ferrari badge on a Geo Metro; put all the decals you want on your Civic; or put a hooker in a nun's outfit..........Unless whats inside REALLY changes its still just a dressed up piece of chit

Interesting reading on the http://www.galcosales.com/ site. Click on the "mfm" icon, then the "Specifications" tab on the right hand side, then click on the "Downloadable Specifications" for "Peel & Seal". Notice the "rubberized asphalt" description. Of course I'm in no way suggesting this has anything whatsoever to do with Fatmat! :o)

Previously tested samples of FatMat have been completely indistinguishable from MFM Peel & Seal. Obviously by claiming that the product is now butyl, they are saying it is no longer the same thing. I guess we'll see if SteveFatMat replies. It is becoming increasingly difficult to figure out how NASA could be using FatMat. If this is just more BS in the name of FatMat, I got to say I wish terrible things for the new owners.

Here's the whois for galcosales.com:

No mistake there, just misspelled the name of the town he's in on the FatMat registration. Do you think we should be questioning the statement on the FatMat site that claims they manufacture the stuff themselves? That would make them completely unique in the sound deadening business.

Hot topic I see. I would be interested in trying out a sample of the new FatMat.

. Obviously by claiming that the product is now butyl,

Is that info on the Fatmat site? I can't seem to find it. Could you link to it? Thanks. All I can find is a reference to "rubberized".
