It's not as bad as you'd think. I've sat in it a couple of times. Also he hasn't posted in here, but this system in now changing. The wall is the same, but................... Well I'll let him come on and tell you what he's doing next.

That would be nice, cause I'll be running 3 4ohm svc 1508's to each amp (2).4 ohm stability on a 2 ohm load is WAY different than 1.34 DCR on 2 ohm stability. There is a good chance that you will be fine, like almost 100%.
Most 2ohm coils are 1.4\1.5 ohms.

First of all, who all has had any experience with these amps? They are stable @ 2ohms for about 1200w. Just curious if they might be able to handle running @1.34ohms. I have a 200amp alt, big 3, and 2 red tops for an electrical system. Thx for the help.

Very nice. What are the specs on that box?

You might want to send Mike a PM. Here is his profile. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...hp?showuser=415

OK, I was looking at tuning it to 38Hz. I would like to take it down a little lower, but I know that 40Hz is recommended. How do DD's do with a lower tuning? So with aero's (Precision Ports) 4 maybe 5 would be ok with all 6 1508's? Maybe 2 separate chambers with 3 1508's & 2 4" aero's in each. I would love to go with 6" aero's, but I have these 4" here already, and I would like to utilize them if I can. Thx for the help & input guys. Those will be rather long if you do all 6. Remember the aero's help limit what you need so you can reduce your rule of thumb a bunch.0 -
Great looking finished box. I love the look of it,very nice. I think you did a great job for your first build.

I was running off the theory of needing 12-14sq" of port for every cube. 6 4" gives me 75sq" in a 6.5cube box.

I'm going to be doing a box for 6 1508's and I have 6 4" aero ports lying around. I was wondering if a box at 6.5cubes (after discplacment) with 6 4" aero ports would be to much?

Not a typo, just cool lingo, lol. I had an X-cab as well, and I had 2 15" RL-p's in there ported. A sundown 1500 with the 2 12"s sealed would be perfect to fit in your truck.I figured ext dime was a typo.0 -
Wow that changed the whole look of that truck from the rear. Looks good, and I like how the plate area was made to look like the emblem, lol.

I like the look of that mesh much better. It flows with the amps, and you can still see all the work done behind them. Great job.

Looks good, but if you could find a mesh that matches the one on the amps, it would look 100x better. Other than that, this build is amazing.

lol, thx, but it's far from done. I'll get more pix up later this weekend.wow i've read through that multiple times and didn't put two and two together. turned out nice by the way.0 -
Yup, it became thisany update on this? i'm interested how it turned out.http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=17957

A nice "daily" tuning is around 34-36hz. That'll give you some pretty good output. I like the low end stuff, so I have mine ported to 30hz. A good 600-800rms (true power) and those subs should get pretty loud and sound good doing it.

What kinda car/truck is it going into? What kinda power are you sending to them? I personally would say 1.5-2 cubes ported (after displacement) for both.

I was wondering how this is done? I'm sure it's something simple, but I'm having a brain fart, and can't figure it out!! You know how meade and many others can control all their amps (2+) from 1 bass control knob.

That power would be just fine for that sub. Are you doing sealed or ported?I can get an Alpine MRD-M1005 for around $200.It does 1000w RMS x1 @ ohms. Would this be too much power for it?
Thanks,
Logan

Thx. It is a Ghia. That and the R32 both belong to the wife.Is that a sweet little Karmann in the driveway I see?nice clean box too BTW! Good skilz

OK, so after many months of procrastinating, I finally got around to building it. Now keep in mind when looking at these pix, it's far from done. This was a quick build to make it to a show. I still have a lot of the "beauty" trim to put up, wires to clean up, and tuning to do to the amps. So with that being said, it's on to the pix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was my old setup
The new build
My door panels with 2 MAW 6.5"s & 2 Fusion Power Plant Tweeters to each door
Be genital with the remarks & comments, lol. I know it's not a "true" wall, but I go through so many ideas that I wanted to be able to take it out later, lol.

Well I figured if the box is 32"tall x 38"wide x 26"deep, tuned to 30hz the 4 6" ports would only have to be 19" long. That leaves me 7" from the back of the port to the back wall. That should be plenty shouldn't it? That'll also give me 113sq in of port.Probably one of the best (and most common) motor platforms out there. Nothing wrong with an RL-p.4 6" flared ports are plenty of port area for a pair of 18" RL-p's. The only problem is fitting the length in there.

Thx Mike, this is my concern. I know these subs are awesome for SQ and sealed enclosures, but you nailed by saying I'm a "big output guy", lol. I know what my 2 15"s did ported, and I have high hopes for the 18"s ported. After having seen you post for some time, it sure sounds like you're definitely a "big output" guy... and not that two sealed RL-p18's won't give you big output, but two ported RL-p18's will give you even bigger output!Of course, we can go back and fourth about it all day long, and when all is said and done, your ears still won't have experienced what two sealed RL-p18's can do. The only way to be sure about what you prefer, is to try it for yourself.
Your 6 4" round ports should suffice for the pair of drivers, but it is hovering around the minimum amount of port area per driver that I would feel comfortable with (55 - 65 square inches per driver). If you have the inclination and space for a larger slot port, it may be a worthwhile investment.
P.S. It would be 4 6" ports, but I am thinking of a slot port (175 sq in of port), and 13 cubes of space (after displacement).
