  1. OK, owning one (which I do as well) and sitting in his specific truck, that has everything done to it are the same thing. I'm 5'8", and I sit just fine, but you know better than I. :neil:fing05.gif

  2. It's not as bad as you'd think. I've sat in it a couple of times. Also he hasn't posted in here, but this system in now changing. The wall is the same, but................... Well I'll let him come on and tell you what he's doing next. ;)

  3. Those will be rather long if you do all 6. Remember the aero's help limit what you need so you can reduce your rule of thumb a bunch.
OK, I was looking at tuning it to 38Hz. I would like to take it down a little lower, but I know that 40Hz is recommended. How do DD's do with a lower tuning? So with aero's (Precision Ports) 4 maybe 5 would be ok with all 6 1508's? Maybe 2 separate chambers with 3 1508's & 2 4" aero's in each. I would love to go with 6" aero's, but I have these 4" here already, and I would like to utilize them if I can. Thx for the help & input guys. fing05.gif

  4. I figured ext dime was a typo.
Not a typo, just cool lingo, lol. fing05.gif I had an X-cab as well, and I had 2 15" RL-p's in there ported. A sundown 1500 with the 2 12"s sealed would be perfect to fit in your truck. :neil:

  5. A nice "daily" tuning is around 34-36hz. That'll give you some pretty good output. I like the low end stuff, so I have mine ported to 30hz. A good 600-800rms (true power) and those subs should get pretty loud and sound good doing it. :neil:

  6. OK, so after many months of procrastinating, I finally got around to building it. Now keep in mind when looking at these pix, it's far from done. This was a quick build to make it to a show. I still have a lot of the "beauty" trim to put up, wires to clean up, and tuning to do to the amps. So with that being said, it's on to the pix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    This was my old setup

Be genital with the remarks & comments, lol. I know it's not a "true" wall, but I go through so many ideas that I wanted to be able to take it out later, lol.

  7. Probably one of the best (and most common) motor platforms out there. Nothing wrong with an RL-p. ;)

4 6" flared ports are plenty of port area for a pair of 18" RL-p's. The only problem is fitting the length in there.

Well I figured if the box is 32"tall x 38"wide x 26"deep, tuned to 30hz the 4 6" ports would only have to be 19" long. That leaves me 7" from the back of the port to the back wall. That should be plenty shouldn't it? That'll also give me 113sq in of port.

  8. After having seen you post for some time, it sure sounds like you're definitely a "big output" guy... and not that two sealed RL-p18's won't give you big output, but two ported RL-p18's will give you even bigger output! ;)

Of course, we can go back and fourth about it all day long, and when all is said and done, your ears still won't have experienced what two sealed RL-p18's can do. The only way to be sure about what you prefer, is to try it for yourself.

Your 6 4" round ports should suffice for the pair of drivers, but it is hovering around the minimum amount of port area per driver that I would feel comfortable with (55 - 65 square inches per driver). If you have the inclination and space for a larger slot port, it may be a worthwhile investment.

Thx Mike, this is my concern. I know these subs are awesome for SQ and sealed enclosures, but you nailed by saying I'm a "big output guy", lol. I know what my 2 15"s did ported, and I have high hopes for the 18"s ported.

P.S. It would be 4 6" ports, but I am thinking of a slot port (175 sq in of port), and 13 cubes of space (after displacement). fing05.gif
