  1. Didn't you already have them sealed? That's what I'd prefer ;)
No actually I have one ported right now. I've never had the joy of having them both going at one time, lol. My thought was to do them both sealed. I just don't know if I'll be happy with them since I've never owned a sealed enclosure before. I've heard them, but never had one myself. I've always had ported for the big output.

  2. OK, these are crud MS paint drawings, but you get the ideas, lol. I plan on starting this tonight. I'm just not to sure which one to go with. 4 6" flair ports, or 1 big slot port. I'll get more port area with the slot port, but I do have 4 6" flairs sitting here as well. On to the specs & drawings. I used bcae1.com for my results with this. Click on pix to make them bigger.

What are your thoughts? Should I go with the obvious, more air space with the slot port? Thx for the help & input guys. :neil:

  3. I say go for it. I have a Q18 in 5.75 after displacement and love it. Eats the 25-40hz range extremely well
Thx man, I think I will try it. What do I have to loose, lol. If I don't like it, I just build a ported wall, lol. I figure it's gotta sound good. I'm doubling the power & the cone surface. :neil:

  4. I think the fact of doubling the cone surface should really do something for you. My vote is go for it, because you don't want to end up selling one off and having the "WHAT IF" feeling.
Very true about the "what if's", lol. You think 9-9.5 cubes will be enough for the 2 of them with that power? :neil:

  5. First off, I currently have one in a ported box in my truck. I've never owned a sealed box, so I don't know what to expect. I can get 9.5cubes total (before displacement) for the subs. They will be pushed by 2 Infinity 1211a's (one to each). So my question is............

    Will I be happy???

I know this is a silly question, and one that really can't be answered till I build it, lol. But it never hurts to try. :neil:

  6. I'm pretty sure there's a couple issues with the RL-p8 idea.

    1. The motor would have a larger diameter than the mounting cutout.

    2. The 8" basket isn't large enough to handle the 3" (I think) coil of the RL-p.

And a couple people have the RL-p18s. One that comes to mind is oxsign.

And who knows what the current status of TC is and how that affects Mike.

With the RL-i the way it is, I really see no need to do a "P" version of it. It's pretty damn good the way it is, lol. I have 2 doing a 140 off of 1200rms. fing05.gif As for the 18", I have one right now in a 4dr blazer (sorry no car), but I plan on putting the 2nd one in here soon. :neil:

  7. Yeah I've heard a lot of good things about them. I just wanted to get some opinions because I do really like my 15 but it just seems better to have a smaller box and actually have a trunk. I've never heard an 8" before, but I know there's a big difference from a 15 to a 12, and a 12 to a 10. Is there a noticeable difference to the 8" sub? I'm guessing it would kick pretty hard.
To the extremely acute hearing maybe, but if done right, you really won't be able to tell. Hell, people this she has 2 12"s in her car all the time, lol. Imagine the look on peoples faces when they see 2 8"s, lol. :neil:

  8. Tuning was 34hz, tone was 47hz, new TL mic at the dash (windows, doors, etc closed), 7cube box, subs up, port back in an '02 blazer. 200amp alt, 2 redtops, 4runs of 0awg.

  9. i know rl-ps are not for getting loud, but i was curious as to what some of u guys are hitting on the meter with a rl-p 15?
I don't know where you heard that from, but they get very loud, and sound good doing it too. I hit a 153.9 with 2 rl-p 15"s. I currently hit a 149.0 with 1 rl-p 18.

  10. Unfortunately it is now that I sold the Typhoon.

Thats a cool daily driver man :)

Get good with the mirrors and wall it. Adding all the weight won't cause any problems with the bags will it?

Thx, the weight wont be a problem at all. I have RE7's (2600lbs) at all 4 corners, lol. fing05.gif

  11. You may not gain any spl, or you might even lose a little by going sealed, but I think that your bass will definitely tighten up, and sound much better overall.
If I'm going to go through the trouble of adding another 18" & doubling the power, I better see a bit of an improvement in output, lol.

  12. an easy way to get the songs off is to set the folders to view invisible. Then just drag them over to your computer. However, they will all be named weird from the file. But most of the ID3 tags will be the same when you view them in iTunes

otherwise there are a few different programs on the Internet u can find

Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm kinda new to all the Ipod stuff, lol :peepwall: . Would that be the files on my comp or on the Ipod?

  13. I currently have 1 18" RL-p with an Infinity 1200 on it in a 5.2cube box doing a 149. I got another 18" & another matching Infinity. I don't really care about being heard for blocks away, as long as it hurts while sitting in the truck, lol. I'm really going for an LSQ system. I'll be running 2 MLI-65's in each door, 4 RE tweeters, and an 7540a to them. I have an 880 for the head unit as well.

  14. OK, I know ported would be most peoples choice, lol. Here's the thing. I can get 8.5cubes if I keep the box below the window & seat line. That is ideally what I would love to have. That would be enough to go sealed with my 2 RL-p 18"s. My problem is, I know how I am with my bass, and I don't know if I'm going to be satisfied with a sealed box. The only way I could do a ported box is by doing a wall. I can get more than 18cubes if I went that way. My problem with that is, I like looking out my back window, lol. Not to mention that in competitions it puts me in a higher class. I don't want that either, lol.

I know I'm being difficult here, but I figured I would ask just to see what you would do, lol. Thx guys, Vic. :lildevil:

  15. I just purchased a 2gb nano used. It has over 400 songs on it, and I like most of them. Is there a way to keep them? I have Itunes already downloaded. I just wanted to know if there is anything I need to do to add these songs to my music?

    Thx, Vic.

  16. Weren't you planning on trying a bandpass setup at one time? That'd fix the issue. Its a shame to hide such a sexy woofer though...
I was, but for that reason, I'm not going to. I want them to be seen (as well as heard, lol). It's fun going to shows, and looking at the dumb looks on peoples faces when you say "Sound Splinter", lol. Then you have to educate them a little. :drink40:
Tis true that the sun will fade the cones over time, and also that there are slight variances between each production cycle - some cones have a slightly green tint, others slightly blue. To clean the woofer, the best way is to moisten a soft cloth with Armor-All and wipe in concentric circles from the outside edge of the cone towards the center logo. Repeat this process with a soft cloth dampened in regular water. Unfortunately, this is not going to help bring back any color that has faded from sun exposure.
Thx Mike. I'll give that a try, and we'll see how it turns out. fing05.gif

  17. you don't got tinted windows?
They have the factory tint on them. It's not real dark, but it's also not "see through" either.
how long has it been back there? Wondering how long it took to show fade.
I've had it back there about 8-9mths now.

  18. I would love to hear one of these in person. I'd also have to agree with Supa_c about half the people never hearing one, and trying to give advise, lol. Please keep up updated with this setup. What's it going into, and what are you going to have pushing it?
