    New setup installed

I haven't posted on here in awhile, so figured I would give a quick review of my newly installed setup. Vehicle is a 2003 S-10 extended cab. Decided to switch to Kenwood with this install and running a DNX6980 receiver. Front stage consists of a Focal Access three way setup with the midbass in the stock door location and the mids and tweets in the dash. Running this off of a Boss Havoc that I purchased from the group buy on here two years ago. For now I am just running them off two channels, and using the other two channels to power my pair of 12" DCON's. This amp powers everything quite well, even the DCON's have a nice kick to them with the lower power they are currently receiving. The Focal fronts sound fantastic, and are by far the best sounding components I have used yet. I have an AudioPipe APSM-1300 waiting to install for the subs, and I can't wait to hear them with more power. I have to admit that I normally am a little disappointed after doing an install, but this particular setup has left me pleasently suprised from the start. SQ

Group Buy on a Zed Built Boss Audio REV-665

I will using the amp to power two sets of components (6.5" eclipse and mb quarts/ front/rear respectively). Signal will be coming from Alpine PXA-H100 which sets crossovers etc for all channels. Would I set this to flat on the amplifier for the best result? Thanks, Jay

I also purchased an amplifier from Mac and it was an excellent transaction. Super fast shipping and a great amp for a great price! Highly recomend him to anyone looking to buy from him in the future! Jay

    Pics of Systems Past

My first system consisted of two 12" Punch Series 1's, a craig 2 channel amp and an Alpine tape deck w/ 6disk changer! After that I moved on to two Rockford Punch Audiophiles, Sony XM-C2000 amp, Orion components and same head unit. Wish I had pics, but sadly never took many in the days prior to digital cameras. This was all back in 94-95ish. I think my favorite setup I ever had was two Kicker solo-barics on an old school punch amp. Jay
  6. One of mine did the same, hence ordering a new one (cat chewed thru the other!) The ones they sell have the buttons on the side as to keep it secure. Jay
  7. Wow. That's crazy cheap for RCA's if they're decent...... What would you compare them to as far as quality? I use monoprice for all of my HA cabling. Good stuff and an excellent price. I picked up a bunch of there iPod cables as well, no issues and are actually nicer then the ones Apple supplied with my iPhone! I will be ordering my RCA's and speaker wire for my car install next week. Jay

    Payment sent! Thank you, Jason
  9. Thanks guys, I will probably just go with the Alpine. Always been good to me in the past! SQ
  10. I haven't actually. I was never impressed with the Pioneer stuff in the past, but would be willing to check it out. My friend recomended the Pioneer as well, I am gonna have to go check one out in person. I had a few Pioneer head units back in the day and never really liked them, guess old habbits die hard! It really sucks with car audio stuff too, cause alot of the "good shit" from back in the day is pure garbage now and some vice versa. As for price,,,, yeah they arent cheap, but I won't be paying nearly that much Jay

  12. Hi all, So I am finally starting to piece together my audio install. I want to go with a dvd monitor for nav and visual purposes, and have narrowed it down to the following two. I tried looking for some reviews online, but very few single din reviews to be found and a double din will not fit my application. Anyways the two I am comparing are the Kenwood KVT-696 and Alpine IVA-D106. Both are pretty similar in price and feature wise seem to be on par to one another as well. I have always been an Alpine guy in the past, but Kenwood appealed to me as well. I already have the Imprint proccessor, and Sirius box for Alpine from my current setup. Biggest differences are the Kenwood has 5v pre-outs whereas the Alpine is 4v via the imprint unit (I think?). Anyone with expierence with the two units? Thank you, SQ

    help choosing a sub/subs

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone! With a single ICON, I assume ported would be preffered for best sound/output? I am terrible at making boxes, so I will have to purchase one from a vendor. Any recomendations? I noticed two vendors on here both sell ported boxes, do either make one that will work well with a single ICON and ported to the correct frequency? It is starting to look like bang for buck, a single ICON in a ported enclosure will be close in price to two DCONs in a ported enclosure. Sure a single ICON wont be as loud, but considering the smaller box and same money I think that is probaby the best option. Anyone else want to chime in on the FiQ or Fi SSD VS the ICON in a single twelve ported setup? Oh it is a trunk car also, forgot to throw that in. Jay
  15. Hi all, I am looking to get a new subwoofer for my car. I have narrowed it down to the following based on reviews online..... All 12" speakers FiQ, Fi SSD, ICON, or maybe go with two DCONS or FiX's. I will have to get a box anyways, so one or two subs is an option. I have 1000watts @ 1ohm / 750 @ 2ohm to power the sub(s). I want something that will play tight, clean bass with a good kick but at the same time get a little loud if I want. Mainly rock music and hip hop, some jazz and classical. No country From past expierence I prefer the sound of sealed enclosures, however I would not rule out a ported enclosure if it doesnt get muddy or boomy. Oh, budget is around 300 for sub(s). Thanks in advance! Jay
