    Kangaroux's Remixes

Yep that's how I do my songs as well. I save often, because I change it back and forth until I like it. Sometimes I get it so screwed up it's easy to just reload the save lol. I used to hate slowed stuff, but it kinda depends on the song. Megaslow I think is awful. But I heard the real version of I cook and think it's terrible. Although I've also heard megaslowed and thought that was equally as bad. In for the kill decaf version I love, but I think Laroux is kinda grating in real speed. Enough rambling. I do like some of the songs you mixed and dl'd them. Thanks!

    Amish Trailblazer Slamology Demo

I know this was so 2 months ago. But I got it uploaded this morning. One of my favorite demos and super nice guy. He had 4 Sundown Zv318's in a 4th order bandpass wall with a bunch of Audiopipe amps. It was pretty brutal.

    Bandpass 4th

I don't know squat about designing it. I just wanted to post to thank you for calling it a 4th order bandpass. I see all the time people calling it just a 4th order and that drives me insane like nendo does mead.

need help picking subs and components

You didn't say what your goals were or what kind of music you listen to. That being said an Icon 15 would be worth a look. Focal are generally an Sq oriented brand and putting multiple pairs in the doors just shoots that in the foot. Sounds like you are just looking for loud so I think that is even more reason to stay away from that type of component. I've seen several people rave about the new Rockford Pro series although I have yet to hear them. Might be worth a look. Sounds like you have plenty of time to research. What you didn't mention and I highly recommend is to sound deadening or maybe even barrier. Look at SDS and the new vendor Stp. Lastly don't forget you need supporting electrical system to run your equipment. That can add up in a hurry.
  8. I always use titebond II glue. I also use minimal screws. Usually glue and clamp the pieces together. The screws I do use are 2" coarse thread drywall screws. Spax brand are great if you can find them.

All that hand sanding would wear me out. You can get a sheet sander for like $40. Heck you can even pick up a cheap belt sander for less than $100. Looking good so far!

looking to upgrade from havoc 15

I would download Torres box calculator. You can play around with the numbers and it's pretty straight forward. Any idea what frequency you want to tune the box to?

    help for sa 15 box

Ok? Download Torres box calculator. Put in your max dimensions. Play around with the size and port tuning. It wont be easy to get the proper port area and tuning for a 4 cube net box for a 32hz tune.

So yeah I am stuck, read plz.

I agree with Swift. I think a single zcon 15 would do what you want. Tune a little lower with more port area. I would even go as far to say to sacrifice the port back and make a larger box and port up. Be advised the DCR is a little lower than the Sundown. I have a dual 2 ohm and it ohms .7 in parallel. That 1500 is underrated and especially at a lower ohm value it should get quite loud. Do you have a way to monitor voltage at the amp? You sure the electrical is strong? Sometimes even a weak ground will cause a poor output.

    Austin863's X-WAGON Build

Right, I didn't mean solder vs no solder. I was talking about the actual mechanical splicing method to join the wire prior to soldering. This is what the WU splice looks like. After you heat shrink/tape it maintains the same path as the original wire and does not create a larger profile. The way you do it is fine. I wasn't picking on it. Most people have never seen either of the types I do and since I've learned the techniques I never do it any other way. Just making suggestions is all

Nice of you to fix it I was noticing your splice. Ever try a western union or lash splice? I prefer those to the parallel twist splice. It makes a little better of a mechanical connection (the WU splice) and a little cleaner. The lash splice I usually only do on large gauge wire.

Try again lol. That is just a double baffle.

    Torres Box Tuning Calculator

I played with the new one. I put the same measurements in the old calc and the updated one and come up with different numbers. height: 19.25 width: 44 depth: 25.5 port: 4.25 x 24 length: 26 .26 displacement 3 common port walls old: 7.95 net 30.79hz new: 8.55 net 29.69hz I see the difference is in the port displacement. There is a new field for port thickness, but even if I make it zero it doesn't change much. I changed the common port walls to 1 on the new update and they are real close to matching. Thoughts?

    Critique one sa-12 box design

That's a lot of kerfing. Not an easy build for sure. I haven't ran the numbers but I would rather put the 2nd baffle on the inside instead of the outside. Of course that will effect everything as well.

    Received Q18, terrible packaging

Just wanted to update this. Work has been more insane than usual and took longer to complete the enclosure than I had anticipated. Everything worked out fine. Got it in last night and it bangs. Thanks guys

    Austin863's X-WAGON Build

Wow I missed a lot. Watched the vid and was like, um, when did you get xcons? Then figured it out lol. They look tiny in the van. So now you are getting a car? A good point was made about wanting more and more and spending more and more. That's with a lot of hobbies. I've spent more than I care to count on the supra. Always wanting faster and faster. Do a mod, and it's great then you get used to it and doesn't feel fast any longer. I'm at the point now where isn't real street friendly. Sure a built turbo 400 trans with a ratchet shifter and over 650hp at the wheels is a lot of fun. But it's loud, terrible gas mileage and can be a handful on the street. Besides that, doing more work and it has been in pieces in the garage for near 2 years now. On a side note, I was looking at your profile and saw that you and my son are only 1 day apart. He was born on 9/12/95. I thought, hmm, I guess me and your uncle must be about the same age. I looked and we are only a few months apart haha. Just thought it was kinda funny. Anyway, carry on.
  21. Honestly I think a nice set of components on a nice amp can sound pretty damn good. Will it be a true SQ setup? No. But I think you will surprised how well something can sound when properly selected and installed. That's the fun of this hobby I think. Build, learn, improve.

    Kangaroux's 99 Pathfinder

I really like that design. Just finished building my first enclosure over 4 cubes. I swear 11 cubes gross didn't look that big in sketchup. I agree though a little more port area wouldn't hurt anyone. It isn't bad though. Much better than some that I see with a little 4x5 and 2 15's.

    SSA's Evil SS Camaro. 4 Evil 15s and 2 DC 7.5ks

I've never seen a matte metallic. Honestly I wasn't a huge fan of the satin red. To me it would look like a normal red that needed to be waxed really bad. I could be wrong but that was my impression. That blue sounds interesting. Might look killer with some black rims too.
  25. Nothing wrong with having some headroom on the amp. Also allows future upgrades. Problem is after a while people start getting greedy and start inching up the gains. So long as you aren't one of those people...
