I work for one a shop that carry focals and we got the news from our distributor contact.... I don't know when the planned release is but IIRC think he said the new production run of the changed tweeter is shipping around JAN of 08.. I don't know if i'm supposed to release this info YET....

Focal is revamping the tweeter for the next release... being there were too many complaints about them being too harsh and hissy.... They've done some major tweaking and i hear they are much warmer now... I like my mids n highs warm and i like to experience a little boom from my mid (not boomy but a little low end) I don't like harsh tweets but rather warm and silky (not texture but sound wise).... I can say the morel tweeter fit this bill but the seas mid gave me the OOMF i was looking for... I can't wait to hear the new focals though (anyone heard them yet, in hawaii we are probably on the last to receive shipping list being on a rock in the pacific ocean LOL)

I love to hear stories about driving daily with your Fi subs and something peculiar happening.... So i thought I'd be fun to create a thread where we can share a funny story about our daily driving experience.... I am a big fan of steve meade (how can you not idolize a guy that can pour that kind of money into his systems) So i put in my two new amps and battery (1K each sub and now no voltage dropping).. My cousin who has been with me since day one of car audio was there for the initial install of the Fi subs (with 500 wats each no battery and voltage loss down to 11.8 +/-).... So myself and my 11 year old son installed the new amps and battery.... took it for a whirl adjusted all my gains made sure my voltage was kosher and all that... Bare in mind here in Hawaii we are shut off from big time shows and companies such as Fi... this place is a JL/Kciker nutthugger town and that is for the guys that make lots of money... 1k watt systems are rare here and so is electrical upgrades and extra batteries (once again not too many shows where wudiophiles can ask pros what to do)... So this makes the story better lol My cousin comes over to hear and see the new install.... (the amps i got came with these remote gain knobs so i quickly turn them down to almost 1). My cousin only has a 900 watt system (600 watt JBL amp to 2 10 infinity's).. i turn on the bass and he didn't seem to impressed... He said I thought the subs get better after break in and they don't seem to take the higher wattage well... thought these subs were supposed to be bad ass.... well 5 minutes later and one clockwise turn of the gain i swear i never seen a 5'-3" 260lb guy push back into my seat and death grip my door handle like that time lol (he left pressure marks on my door panel I should've taken pics)... I thought he was going to have a heart attack.... I turned it down and he was sorta speechless for a time then he turned the volume back up as if he couldn't believe what he heard the first time.... 2 SSD copper coils $388 2 1,000 watts US amps Md.1d $750 1 Kinetik 1800 $205 a 260 pound man scared chit less by Fi ~ PRICELESS

Well scott if you ever need anything with that website for AA I can either help you (i can do flash, HTML, PHP and have a few degrees in Adobe Photoshop) I also can manage servers (yeah i went to school to be a cisco server tech but that's another story) or i cna steer you into a great service for hosting... Trust me i have been through 12 host (i own my own website design company so you cna imagine) and i finally found someplace that actually delivers... I set up nick lemons server, hosting, domain, DNS and designed the website according to his needs... and it only cost him a 15" mag and he only pays roughly 80 bucks a year... They are fast and very knowledgeable where i got him his hosting... Let me know if anything is needed

tinsel slap can be heard like someone holding a popsicle stick above the cone and when the sub excursions it hits the stick causing a slapping noise... If this "scratching" is heard at low volumes or high volumes with little movement on the cone then i would say it isn't tinsel slap and that it probably is something else (maybe the coil is warped and is scratching and is sitting of center in the gap of the sub)

Exactly why i am more then happy to be part of Jakes team... No matter how trivial the purchase was he treats it as if they were the ONLY customer he has.... I like that about Jake and i swear if he changes, I will personally have to fly out there and smack him with a fish..

Trevor I just ordered a 300 amp alternator from Dominick Iraggi for my Sundown 3000D system.. It was a direct bolt on and does 300 amps at 1.3 revs.... I have a Scion tC so i am certain he makes one for the xB

Well today we had a gathering amongst friends in Honolulu Hawaii with a Term lab to play around with.... Fi was killing the scene.... TL meter..... DB Drag setting... peak hold, sweeps and sine waves then music... We got to show off a 10" BL a 15" Q and an 18" BTL on a sundown 3000D.. I have to say Philips 10" BL is so damn impressive... some of the new guys that showed up were amazed at what that 10" BL could put out (numbers wise and sound wise)... Not many 10's on this island can boast a solid steady 142 on a TL with a single 10... The 15" Q first run was right up there with some of the other DD set-ups that were veterans.... He put up a 142 with a single 15 Q on an diamond 1K amp... He would've hit harder but the diamond amp decided to be protect happy so as his number were climbing up to the scale his amp would kick off at the 142.3 mark... The 18 BTL was a freaking monster..... With the windows fully down on both sides, we were doing hair tricks with GUYS LOL.... You couldn't sit in it without flinching from the bass.... Rear view mirror fell off and taped to the dash later.... In the next term lab gathering were gonna meter it with the right settings and song.... It was the biggest draw at the gathering... everyone gathered around the truck and everyone wanted to feel the monster BTL... Jesus christ it was pucking loud, low and sounded pretty freaking good doing it... I was in the cab to adjust his settings on his amp and holy chit he bumped it full tilt and i thought i was gonna get a nose bleed.... Props to that freaking Sundown 3000d that really set it off..... that is one crazy combo Fi and Sundown Fi representing Hawaii folks... Scott you'r gonna be getting a few orders from the 808 state soon.... LOL I need to get back to you on that email for the "secret pack" I couldn't answer all the questions everyone had and they all wanted info on the subs and site to go to.... I need that pack soon so i'll hit you up about it via email.... OCT is one of the bigger sound offs in hawaii so I will try to get a spot for the Fi crew to demo again (we will be doing a cross demo with sundown).... Thanks Scott, Philip, J0ckin and Stealth... Fi threw it down hard today and opened some eyes...

I love it when philip demos the 10" and people try to look for "hidden" woofers LOL

scott rates them conservatively since people tend to *cough* forget *cough* the RMS rating of the sub... So he rates them conservatively to avoid mass warranty issues.... I am pretty sure with proper gain settings and a little responsibility on the volume knob they will handle well above their rated power...

Take out the isolator it serves no purpose and i think it is contributing to your low voltage... I have a yellow top on 3K system before... NEVER did i ever dip below 10 volts UNLESS the yellow top was not getting proper charge... The isolator only does ONE thing... Isolate the batteries when you play the system with the car off period... It does nothing (or supposed to do nothing) when the car is on (since the alt has to charge the optima)... You need to narrow it down somewhere... I know for a fact dealing with JL those amps will cut out at voltages below 11volts... I would double check all connections (the last JL amp we seen shut down was due to a lose terminal on the bat and amp, another we had a faulty fuse holder)...

A fully loaded BTL can handle a pair of Sundowns strapped... In fact a few people here feed their BTL's between 4K and 6K... They be some crazy subs my man... If you come on down to the Competition on Sunday at Special T Tinting (near Honolulu Community College) you'll be able to take a listen to some of our Team Fi Hawaii demo vehicles.... We got BTL's, BL's and Q's for you to take a listen to...
