    CDA-9835

not that im trying to be rude or anything but what does this headunit have that newer models are lacking?
  3. My car came with an Alpine CDA-9835 and I want to get an Ipod adapter for it but every store I go in to find one tells me I should get a newer head unit so I can use the high speed Ipod crap. I don't really want to spend money on a new head unit but if it logically makes sence I will. Stores are quoting me around $150 for the ipod interface and they all finish with it would be better to get a new head unit for that much but I don't see why I would downgrade my head unit. My old car had a JVC-KDSH1000 head unit and I had the Ipod adapter for that which was pretty crappy but I just usualy throw my ipod on shuffle and drive. I will admit that finding a specific song was extremely difficult and frustrating. What would you guys advise? Budget is around $600 if I get a new headunit.

    What should i do?

I went to some shops today and this one guy said he can do Focal 165 A1 components in the fronts and backs for 900 total. Are these good speakers? From what I am able to find online he is charing a lot of the speakers.

    What should i do?

Thanks for the help. I think im gonna keep the headunit and change the speakers for now. What would the infinity components I have be rated as? I wanna get something like them or better. I don't mind dropping $300+ for components now because I want to get something good that I am not gonna wanna change later.

    What should i do?

I get absolutely no bass from the current speakers and they don't sound that good either. I also want Ipod integration but I don't like the head unit I have ATM. I'm using one of those radio transmitter things and they don't sound that good and I don't like having to change the station every few miles.

    What should i do?

I just got a new car and I don't know what to put in the car sound wise. Previous owner put an Alpine CDA-9835 head unit in the car with a Phoenix Gold OCTANE-R 9.0:5 amp. I don't like this head unit and I want to replace it. I was looking at the Avic-D3 but I'm not sure about that any more. I don't really know much about the amp I havn't really had a chance to toy with its settings but at this point I don't like what I hear from the stock speakers at all. And I don't know if its because of the amp or if its the speakers. Im my old car I had Rockford Fosgate 1100a2 amp FI Q 12 Infinity Kappa 60.7cs components in the front and back JVC KD-SH1000 Headunit Rockford Fosgate Punch P450.4 amp What do you guys think I should change first? And what should I change them with? I wish I could do everything at once but at the moment I only have about $1100.
  9. Well apparently what happened was the fuse got loose and was losing contact so what ended up happing was all the current went through a smaller surface area and that caused a lot of heat. I just replaced the fuse and the holder and everything is working fine now. thanks for all the help!
  10. Ok the other side of the fuse looks just like it did when I put it there so I will just trace the wire and if theres noting else that looks burned/melted then is it safe to assume thats it?
  11. Aright so is it safe to assume this is the culprit? Thanks for all the help btw!
  12. No theres another fuse holder right under it for my other amp and that one is fine so i don't think its from the engine heat.
  13. How would I check a bad connection just trace the wire for cuts? Or should i just replace the fuse holder and be done with it?
  14. I have a FI Q12 hooked up to a Rockford Fosgate 1100 a2 (manual says 100 amp fuse). I have stock battery in a VW golf with stock alternator its 90 amps. I have a punch 450.4 hooked up to 2 sets of component speakers. fuse was 100 amp ANL. The amp the fuseholder melted on is a 4 gauge. Um anything else?
