need help picking subs and components

Well thanks for you help guy but I decided ti wait and buy the car first so I no want kind of electrical system I would need. Plus I'll save some more and do 4 X 15" Icon on Crescendo amps. But I will be picking up 3 Phoenix Gold amp soon, ti400.2, ti600.2 and a ti1000.2 for the mini van.
  2. I'll be upgrading my system next summer but I'll buying the gear over the winter so come summer it will be build time. I need help pick out subs and some components speakers. As for what vehicle its going in, I'm not sure yet I'm planing on buying a second car also next summer. I'm just trying to have all the gear ready for when I do buy a car, but most likely will be a 2 door car as it will be my car to go to work mostly. I have decided on the amp I will be picking up over the winter, Crescendo BC2000d for the subs and C1100.4 for the mids and highs. Depending on the car and if I have room, I may also down the road pick up a second BC2000d. For subs I have been looking at Skar VVX, Sundown SA and SSA, looking for 15" subs. I'm leaning more with the SSA, witch SSA subs would be better with the BC2000d? Now for components I always bought Infinity kappa I'm on my 3rd set now ( 3 different car) and I would like to try some thing else. I have been looking at Focal and was wondering the C1100.4 put out 180 X 4 and the Focal are rated from 60 to 100 rms, could I run then on the C1100.4? I was planing on getting 2 pairs for each doors, would that keep up with the sub stage? Any help/suggestion would be great Thanks EDIT: as for budget around $300 for each subs and each components.

need help picking subs and components

I mostly listen to rap, hip-hip, r&b and sometime techno. I was looking at the icon put wasn't sure if the BC2000d puts out enough power for 2 icons. I just want to be able to hear the music clear, loud and able to keep up with the bass if I do decide to ad a second BC2000d and subs. Well I 90% sure I'll be adding a second one down the road. I didn't mention sound deadening and electrical as I do not know what car its going in but that is going to be decided when the time comes. I know I'll need a ho alt and a few batteries in the back. EDIT: I was thinking of 2 pairs of Crescendo PWX 6.5" and a set of Crescendo FT1 super tweets would that be a good choice for the doors?

    Need help with box cut

I'm planing on building a new sub box and was wondering what would be the best way to get the mdf cut? Box will be 36" wide X 18" high X 16" deep I know I have to take 1.5" off some measurement but what would be the best way of doing it? I will be getting the mdf sheet cut at Home Depot. Thanks EDIT: Does this sound right" Front/back 36" X 18" top/bottom 36" X 14.5" sides 14.5" X 16.5" and the port is also 16.5" high I just having a hard picturing it in my head.

    Need help with box cut

All I have here is a jig-saw, thats why I'm getting them done for me. We build our own snake racks and every thing was cut at HD and they were all perfect cut. Every thing lined up great. Fair enough then. Make sure to keep an eye on the guy running the panel saw. I suggest laying a 2x4 down at the bottom of the saw where the wood rests so that way the board won't tip over as you near the bottom of it. Also make sure the guy turns off the blade once it hits the bottom of the saw. 99% of the time the wood is 1/16 - 1/8" short cause they run the saw back up the wood and it cuts part of it off. Ok thanks for that info. Would it be better if the side where like end cap (16" X 18") and I cut the rest 1.5" shorter? So 34.5" wide and not the 36"?

    Need help/advice on box

So my system was stolen out of our mini van but the left the 7" touch screen, it was all old stuff been saving this year to replace it next summer anyways. But I got sick of not having any bass so I got 2 Phoenix Gold QX 12" for $20 off a friend and I picked up a Phoenix Gold QX180.2 and Phoenix Gold ZX350 for $65. The 180.2 will run my kappa (witch are running off the deck right now) in the front door and the ZX350 will run the 2 12" @ 2 ohms. Now my question is, if I would build a box for each 12" would it sound the same as one box for both 12"? The reason I want to build 2 boxes and not one, is I'm planing on putting one box on each side of the van and build a amp rack in between each box to hold the amps. That way it will leave me room for the stroller when we need it, so the stroller would be in front of the amp rack and between the two boxes. Not sure if you can picture what I mean? Does that make any sense? Any help and/or input would be great. Thanks

    Need help/advice on box

Ok so I found some more info on the QX 12" sub, http://download.phoe...s_and_Boxes.pdf It says from 1.5 to 4 from what I get, so how big should I make the boxes?

    Need help/advice on box

Ok so I gave it a quick try and a box, does that look around right? Boxes 13" wide X 26" high X 16" deep and .75" thick = 2.3622 cube Port 2" high X 11.5" wide X 18.72" long around 34 hertz = .25 cube 2.3622 - .25 = 2.1122 cube with out sub displacement? I can't image the QX 12" taking that much air space. If that sound and looks right, would that box be ok for the QX subs? EDIT: is that too much/not enough port? @ 13" wide X 2 thats 26" leaves me with 22" for the amp rack.

    Need help/advice on box

I thought of some thing like that but during winter the snow from the stroller would melt on everything. Also would probably damage the box with all the snow and water. There is also a alarm/starter combo now installed. Build the box out of birch and wrap it in vinyl. Could always do that, thanks.

Yes that will work just fine. to SSA! Great thanks a lot for your help. Does any one know the QX subs? I can't seem to find much about them online. I emailed PG but still haven't got a reply back. All I was able to find was they are 200 watts rms /300 watt peak. Not sure on what box size they need. EDIT: would 2 cube per sub be good for the QX? OR do they need to be bigger?

Need help building a new box

I just went to remeasure to be safe and you are right I have 17" to play with, my bad. Thanks a lot.
  21. I have a small problem with my box, its too big now and need something smaller. We just had a baby boy last week and now I need the back of my van for the stroller so I need to build a new box that is smaller but still can use my two 10" subs and still be able to mount the 2 amps somewhere as I do not have room under my seats. Right now my box is 48" wide X 14" high X 12" deep, I would like to make a box that is taller rather then wider. I have 40" high X 14" deep to play with, the stroller is 21" wide. I was thinking of using the 40" high to make the box. I'm runing 2 X Earthquake dbx10 single 4 ohms on a Alpine MRD-M1000 @ 2 ohms so around 1000 watts rms. The box will be made with 3/4" MDF. A couple of question for you guys 1. Would it be better vented or sealed? 2. Would it be better if the subs are facing back or can I face them to the side? 3. Should I just sell them and get a single 12"? Would that be better? Any help would be great. Thanks Here a picture of my set up right now. EDIT: forgot the picture. lol

Need help building a new box

The guy that made the box took the design for bass head design for competition from the manual. The box was 30" wide X 12" high X 15 1/2" deep, 2" X 11" port for each 10". Just like the manual box just in one box, the box had 2 chambers one for each sub.

Need help building a new box

I had bought a box at 2.5 cu.ft (1.25 per sub) and I didn't like it, when I did the second box (the one I have now) they sound so much better with a bigger box then the smaller box did. Here a picture of the smaller 2.5 cu.ft each sub was getting 1.25 cu.ft I even tried inverting the sub to give them a bit more cu.ft but didn't help them.
