Oh yeah, duh. I'd definitely go with Sundown but I know how it is when you have to buy piecemeal. Good luck and post some pics as it moves forward.

Mike, any of the RL-i12's still available? Any discounts? Thanks, -fp
  5. I'm not a motorcycle aficionado by any stretch of the imagination, but I saw this parked the other day and it blew me away. Sorry for the crappy image, but I snapped it with my phone while I was driving by. I've asked some of my friends, one suggested it might be a Hayabusa, but I can't find any that resemble this. Anyone know what bike this is?

    Any beer snobs here?

I never enjoyed beer growing up. My college years usually found me with a bottle of Southern Comfort in one hand and a 2-liter of Dr. Pepper in the other. A few years ago I had my first Guinness on tap and I've never looked back. -fp

    Greedy Rich Oil Mother F*ckers

That's $12B that went straight back into the corporate coffers. Granted, it equals jobs, but not at a 1-to-1 ratio. Much of the money spent is for merchandise imported from overseas. Yes, buying American is a wonderful pipe dream, but let's not kid ourselves. There's very little manufacturing of any quality or quantity to be had, certainly very little that would be consumed by the majority of that cash infusion. Choosing to leave politics out of the discussion is foolish. Politics caused this mess and it will have some part in fixing it.

    Greedy Rich Oil Mother F*ckers

Cheers to audio-neon. I'm glad that someone had the balls to come out and say this, I didn't. Just like most everything else in life, you have a choice. If you don't like the price of gasoline, then don't use it. Choose to live closer to work, or choose another line of work (for truckers) that doesn't rely on gasoline as your major overhead. Choose to buy hybrid and limit your dependency on foreign oil. Choose mass transportation. When he started blaming the "eco" folks I knew for certain he was off the deep end. I find it odd that he chose not to discuss the war, when the policies of this government support (and in many cases, directly sponsor) the factors that have caused this recession. How typical it is for us, as Americans, to blame someone else when things aren't going our way. Blame the Blacks. Blame the Irish. Blame the Jews. Blame the French. Blame the Mexicans. Blame the Terrorists. Blame the government. We have a choice and a right to exercise that choice. Make a difference in the upcoming election and vote with your brain. Not with your heart, your religion, your sexual orientation, or your fears. Have the courage to stand up and put someone in office that can rebuild our national identity and international relationships. You have a choice.

    Thinking about Hybrid Audio

It seems I'm in a constant state of evolution with my system. Currently I have a modest SQ system, in so much as it sounds good to me. I've made certain compromises in order to keep a mostly stock environment, as well as my preference for listening to my iPod (versus CDs). My current setup: Front Stage: Alpine IDA-X001 AudioControl EQL Sundown Audio SAX-100.4 JBL P650C 2-way components Sub: Sundown Audio SAX-100.2 2 @ SoundSplinter RL-i8 (sealed) I play a wide range of music but have a preference for alternative/punk/dance. I had purchased a set of Seas CA18RLYs last year, but they won't fit my stock 4Runner door panels. While I'm satisfied with the JBLs, I can't help but wonder "what if". The mids are in the stock location and I've moved the tweeters to holes in the kick panel, pointing towards the center at 45-degrees. The imaging is much improved but I know there are better speakers out there. I've been browsing the Hybrid Audio site and noticed that the 4" Legatia mids should fit (depth-wise) in the door location. I don't see the mounting depth specifications listed anywhere for the Clarus 5" mids, those would be a nice option as well. Would these speakers be wasted on a vehicle/installation like mine? Can someone provide me the depth on those Clarus 5" speakers? Any recommendations or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks, -fp

    Laptop Suggestions

Some questions that will better narrow down your choices: * Do you like to lounge around with your laptop or do you prefer a desk? * Do you need good customer support, or are you comfortable scouring the web for help? * Do you like to upgrade your system or leave it intact? * Do you use any specialized 3rd-party software that comes in a box (besides Word/Excel)? * Do you consider yourself a "power user"? -fp

    Thinking about Hybrid Audio

Alright, I've done some research and here's what I've found. From the door panel to the window track, is 3 1/4". Theoretically, this would leave me 1/4" for magnet clearance of the track and surround clearance from the grill. Considering the CA18RLY coil has a linear coil travel of 10mm (max 20mm), this already effectively rules it out. Compound that with the fact that the door panel has a curvature towards the lower-right corner, and the basket ring is 1 1/2" wider than the grill face (which tapers toward the door from there), and it's an impossible fit. My choices are: Stick with the JBL P650Cs. They're not perfect, but they're good and they fit. Modify the door panel. I don't know if I have the time or expertise for this. I'm handy in my wood shop, but fiberglass/resin/filler is a whole other beast. Purchase a different set of mids, possibly Hybrid Audio.

    Thinking about Hybrid Audio

Not at all. I'm just trying to stay somewhat on topic, as the original post was about Hybrid Audio components (in the Hybrid Audio forum). Don't want to piss anyone off by diverting this into a build log about Seas. If I can fit the Seas in my door, great! But if I can't, I'm curious about the Hybrid Audio mids. How they'll fit in the doors, if they're a good fit for my existing system, etc.

    Thinking about Hybrid Audio

I just found this photo of another 4Runner door that reminded me it came with a cardboard baffle thingy around the cone. I might have enough room after all. Yay, I get to play in my woodshop tonight! P.S. Back to the topic at hand for a moment, what do you think about the Hybrid Audio mids I mentioned? Are they appropriate for me, or complete overkill?

    Thinking about Hybrid Audio

If memory serves, the baskets are too wide for the door opening, even without the plastic baffle. I'll check again tonight and post my findings.

I'd like to avoid glassing. If I go that route I'll probably go whole-hog like this guy. If that happens, this thread is unnecessary since I'll just use the Seas.

    Thinking about Hybrid Audio

It might look deep but it's not. The window track comes down right behind it. The stock location already has a baffle of sorts. Here is my door: And here's a pic from another guy's 4Runner, showing the location of the track. As you can see, the door is very shallow.

    Thinking about Hybrid Audio

No, I think there's only 5mm or so clearance to the inside of the panel. Why do you ask?

    New SAZ-1500D pics

My new SAZ-1500D (Jacob, you're the best!) came in via UPS today. It just occurred to me that nobody has posted pics of the new heatsink for this model, so here you go! This is a crappy picture, but it shows off the upper heatsink.
