    What options on SSD's?

Ok, at the moment I'm running a single ported 10" BTL in an underseat box I made. I'm wanting to go to two SSD 12"s in a larger sealed box. The amp I have is a JBL GTO 1201.1 II: specs: http://www.jbl.com/EN-US/Products/Pages/ProductSupportDetails.aspx?PID=GTO1201.1+II 787W RMS x 1 channel at 4 ohms • 1114W RMS x 1 channel at 2 ohms • Dynamic power: 1339W at 2 ohms What voice coil option would I need to choose on them, and how would I wire them to get ~700W going to each sub? Thanks!

    What options on SSD's?

Would I get them in Dual 2 ohm configuration and wire them like so? Sorry to make a repetitive thread, I just want to make sure I'm doing it right lol.

    15" Q box

Well, here's the deal. I've been running my 15" Q in a sealed box for the last month or so and I am wanting to build a ported box for it sometime soon and need help getting a design together. I have no problem building stuff, I'm just no good at getting something together that will be right for my application (right ft^3, right port size, cut sizes, etc.). Below is a pic. of the largest outside dimensions I can possibly go with. The 4" rise is to clear the tranny hump (it's going in an ext. cab silverado.) I'm wanting something tuned to ~33 hz or so. If anyone can get together a design for me, that would be great. Just send me a PM or reply on here and we can go into further detail. You can work on it at your own pace - I'm not in a hurry. I just have no clue when it comes to designing ported boxes and was looking for a little help from those that are wiser than me . Thanks, Joseph.

    Total Cost for Repair?

Anyone at Fi, I need to send back my 15" Q for repair. My brother wanted to help me when I was attaching it to the box and he slipped with the drill, poking a hole in the rubberish material between the paper cone and the gasket. I was wondering what repair costs would be for that? I no longer have the box it was shipped to me in, so what I will have to do is have Fi send me a box for it. If it is an option, I would also just like to have the box already pre-payed to ship to y'all and then y'all send it back to me, and I can pay the total for repair and the shipping both ways, whatever it would be. I am pretty sure I am going to have this sent back and have that replaced, but is there any way that I might fix it myself that is aesthetically pleasing? Thanks for the help, Joseph.

    Total Cost for Repair?

http://www.itwconsumer.com/catalog.aspx?prodID=29 Anyone know if this is urethane based? I picked up some at O Rielly's after school, but I can't find anywhere whether it is urethane based or not? Just want to make sure... thanks. Joseph.

    Total Cost for Repair?

It's not too bad, I just didn't know whether I could fix it well enough or not... really more of a tear than a hole. That streak on there is super glue (not my doing).

    Total Cost for Repair?

Hey, Sean. Just incase you havn't seen, I found the problem in the way I had it wired... something was wrong about the terminals on the box, so I'm just going to run the wires straight through... As for the hole, yes, that's the problem. Any way I can fix it myself? Thanks

Help needed on 15" Q install...

Hey, Scott. You've got another PM . I'd rather not type it again or I'd post it here... sorry, I'm lazy. Joseph.
  11. Everything is connected, power is on the speaker wire that is run inside the box and all connections (everything, RCA, remote, power, ground.) are all tight and in place... my problem is that I cannot wire for a 2 Ohm load like this woofer wiring diagram from Rockford Fosgate on the Q, as the Q does not have + and - for each voice coil on the same sides of the sub., so that way of wiring is impossible with the Q... Below is a picture of how I test wired it just to see if it would work and present the 2 Ohm load to the sub, but the subwoofer would not even come on. It acted as if there was no power going to it, which there was, but not at the right load (is that correct?). That JBL GTO 1201.1 II is a class D amp, by the way... I just need to know if there is ANY way possible to wire this in which is will present a 2 Ohm load to the sub. If I wired it in a way in that pictures that it should have presented a 2 ohm load, then something must be wrong with the individual subwoofer, but if I wired it incorrectly in that picture, then I need to change my wiring method or else maybe even send it back and get the 15" Q with the Dual 2 option so that I can wire it in SOME way (I am not really that educated as to how to wire certain ways to achieve a certain load) that I will acheive a 2 Ohm load... Can anyone help me? I don't know what is the weak link in the system that is making the sub not work (amp has power and is sending power to the speaker wires that go to the sub)... thanks in advance for any help! Joseph.

    Scott, you have several PM's

Sorry for having to make a post, but Scott I've sent you several PM's over the last 2 weeks and e-mailed you a couple times and still have not gotten a reply... I don't know if you're just missing them or what, but I need some questions answered. Joseph.

Help needed on 15" Q install...

I can't really think of anything else to test to try and figure out what the problem is. I have tested everything I've been told to test, and I can't find out what's wrong. Is there anything else I can test? Something on the sub- all other connections have power to them amp works, speaker terminals have power, speaker wire to sub is delivering power- sub just isn't working? What should the DC resistance on the sub terminals be reading? I could test those as well... If there is nothing more I can do, then I would need to send it back to FI to see what is wrong and I need to know what the system is for doing that? I no longer have the box it came to me in, as it was torn up a little. Thanks a lot for the help, Joseph.

    Scott, you have several PM's

I'll find the link to the original topic I made... I would have continued in it, but I didn't know y'all don't answer PM's. I made another post in it... Thanks for the help. Joseph. Here's the link: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...mp;#entry281715 Thanks again.

Help needed on 15" Q install...

Where can I get a gain setting CD? Would wal-mart happen to have them? My friend has indeed lost the one he had...

Help needed on 15" Q install...

Sub disconnected? I've got power to them. Sean, do I need to go pick up a digital multimeter? I have a non-digital, but it's not east to get an accurate reading by looking at a gauge. Thanks. Joseph.

Help needed on 15" Q install...

I have a multimeter with a gauge on it, but I don't have a digital one... I was testing the connections with an amprobe and it recently started acting pretty crazy on me (I think its getting low on power). Anyway, I retested with the non-digital multimeter and didn't get a power reading between the + and - RCA's going into the amp (tested on the outer jackets), should I be getting one? If so, do I just need to go get a different RCA and try it out? I don't know... I put my hand on it several times and I didn't really feel anything, but when I disconnected the sub from the box, the air inside the box was somewhat warm and it was dark outside (but still kind of hot). What exactly do you mean when you say the coils may be wired out of phase? Thanks, Joseph.

Help needed on 15" Q install...

I would burn one, but one of the computer's drives is messed up, so no burning for me, just copying. I think a friend of mine had a Bass Testers CD. I'll have to call him up and see if he hasn't lost it or something... how many Hz should the tone be? Joseph.

Help needed on 15" Q install...

How can I get two wires into one of the terminals on the sub? I don't have anything laying around (at least not enough of it) that's small enough to fit two into one terminal... if I have it wired correctly (it's exactly like it is in the picture...), then that means the two possible problems are the RCA's or the sub, correct? Or could the remote wire also be the cause of the sub not even twitching? Thanks again. Joseph.

Help needed on 15" Q install...

I bought it new from Fi. I am not sure if the sub is dead or not, as I can't really tell... I toggled the gains up and down during a rap song (played a song with some bass to make damn sure I just couldn't hear it because the gains were set low...) and the sub never even twitched... the gain is not set where I want it yet, but I turned it up as far as it would go before the protect light came on and the sub didn't twitch. RCA's are connected, remote wire is connected (they are connected, but could a dud one be the problem?). I'm two steps ahead of you on taking the sub out of the box and testing. I volt tested ALL connections last night to find the weak link and I had power to the + and - leads going into the sub's terminals. All connections had power, so that just leads me to conclude either I have a dud RCA or the sub is dead? Yep, that was the first thing I made sure of. I could buy another RCA and hook it up and see how it does, but I doubt that is the problem... I'll do it though and if it still doesn't work, then that only leaves one possibility as to why the sub isn't working. I'd like to hear from one of the Fi guys and see what they have to say about why it isn't working? Thanks a lot for the help... Joseph.
  21. I'm looking for someone (Scott? Nick? Just anyone that knows what they're doing) to help me get together a box design (cut sheets, etc)... I plan on running the Q for a little while in a sealed box I built that is right at 2.6 cubes (after sub displacement), but want to build a ported box later so it will hit the lows better. I have no problem with building it, that is easy for me, I just need a good design that is tuned to a certain Hz. I want it to sound good, but be louder from the outside than it will be sealed. Would 32 Hz be a good "middle of the road" tune? The box is going to go in the floor of an ext. cab '01 silverado (still has the backseat, just leaving it up- I could even get some brackets to raise the back seat a few inches...). The sub is going to be powered by a JBL GTO 1201.1 II. I would like it not to have to be extended onto the channel (hump) that runs down the middle of the cab, as I would have to move the amp, which is mounted there now. The max outside dimensions , at least with the amp staying at its current location, would be 22" x 22" x however tall it needs be. Anyway, anyone that can help me out getting a cut sheet and such together just contact me. Thanks a lot for any help/suggestions. Joseph K.

    Single Fi Q 15" box...

A few pics... got all the wood on except for the bottom (going to seal all seams and then seal the bottom through the speaker cutout). The cutout, 14.125"... anybody need a wagon wheel? As you can see, I did a little overkill on the screws... I had a full box that has just been sitting around for a year. Oh well, can't make it too strong. With edges rounded and everything sanded... all with a wood rasp and sand paper. Took me a little longer than it would have if I had a router and belt sander, lol. Next, carpet. I may go with something else, but It'll probably be carpet... Thanks, Joseph K.

    Single Fi Q 15" box...

Started on my box today for a single Fi Q 15" (still haven't ordered it yet though...). I just had to order from Fi as after reading tons of reviews and talking to a few people, I have heard nothing but great things, whether it be the great quality, customer service, and pricing. Anyway the box is sealed (thought I'd make my first build a little easier on myself...). The Q's should do well in both sealed and ported enclosures, correct? I double layered the top to make it 1.5" thick. The inside dimensions of the box are 11.75" tall x 20.5" wide x 20.5" deep. Total is 2.86ft.^3. Subtract the sub displacement from that and the grand total is 2.67ft.^3. The .7 (almost a 1" cube ) over shouldn't have any negatives, correct? If I need to take the size down a wee bit then I can just add another brace somewhere... I got the box done today, just have to carpet and everything else. I'll try to get some pics. up when it is all said and done... Also, the amp powering this sub will be a JBL GTO 1201.1. How does that combo. sound? Hoping to get both good SPL and SQ out of this.... let me know what y'all think. Thank for the help, Joseph K. P.S., scott/nick I'll be sending $279.00 your way sometime soon . Thanks again.
