Do you plan to run active? I don't know if m5 would say the same, but I would try some decent comps, then over the next little while tweak and tune, trying to find out what you do and don't like about them. It'll make life easier in the long run IMO. I have been running the crescendo cz 6.5 comps. I need to change mounting locations and start trying an active setup, but I do recommend them. They are cheap and sound alright on their own. The biggest downfall I have is they are so completely overpowered by the sub stage, such as will be an issue with most front speakers. Good luck man your gonna love those subs!

Different subs different results. You should re-do this test when you get the Ethos. Kind of a pain but, you never know till you try

I know how you feel. Facing the rear I had a boost in low end output, but shattered my trunk latch. Ford decided to make it completely electrical. So I have no choice but to fire forward. I may have lost that little gain in the low notes, but facing forward I noticed 1 more detailed bass and 2 a better ability to hear if I push too hard. So until you play with positioning it's anybody's guess as to what will happen.

Q has publicly stated he is making some changes for that very reason. One of them being beefier packaging. You're going to love that sub! Gotta post a build log and show that bish off!!!

So, I guess I should finally put this on here. First things first, my car was a theft recovery I picked up from my dad's work (he works for a local body shop) for $450. It's a 2004 Ford Focus SE 2.3l dark blue. I don't really know why but I don't have a pic of the car? Anyway, what do you do with a focus with 200,000 mi? Make it run of course... Lol needed a fuel pump. Sitting for almost a year and it seized, oh well. After that you do this... 12" Fi bl on a Sundown 1500 v3. I then got rid of the factory speakers and installed some Alpine 5x7" in all four doors on a Hertz HCP4 After getting further into this site, I realized rears were unnecessary and swapped the Alpines for these 6 1/2" Crescendo CZ. Here they are installed So after so playing around for awhile, I finally got metered... Not too shabby so a year later I decided to upgrade. Just so happened to be when the Ethos were being released. So I contacted Q and got 2 12" ordered. Very excited now. After a little more back and forth with Q he came up with some box demensions for me. Here is the test fit. Works almost perfectly, I had to leave off the top and sneak it in. All put together and glued minus the top of course, with my little man pulling some kinda face? So now to power the Ethos I jumped on the Taramps bandwagon and ordered this [/url 3k Taramps HD. While awaiting all of my new goodies, I got ahold of Don at sds and did this Next I got the box painted with bed liner and the port blue. It was supposed to match the car but... Even after 3 coats it's too light, whatev... I'll have to get some more pics of the amp mounted and such. Which leads me to something I haven't mentioned. Factory underhood batt and alt. Shuriken bt-80 in the trunk, all 1/0 ga. With big 3. All run by a Pioneer 80prs. That's it for now, gotta figure out a bigger and better front stage. With only a little effort from the Ethos I can make them almost non exsistent. I tried to keep it a sleeper stereo with unmodified door panels and things, but I don't think that will work if I ever want to unleash the Ethos to full potential. If I ever do meter again I'll post numbers. Let me know if I missed anything I'm doing this late at night, brain function is slightly diminished

Hey, at least they'll be home in time for the 4th of July. I guess there is a bright side, beyond Tim Howard. We played great for about 15 min. Had they played anywhere near that level during regulation we could've won...

I've been holding off from intimidation, Big Jon and Senchez have massive builds. Mine is just a regular ol' daily driver. Nothing really fancy, but I guess I should put one up

I thought about that, but didn't know how effective it would be. Second Skin MLV be good? Just cut it into workable strips and place over any metal? Never worked with the stuff... Also, if I built little boxes to surround my rear 6x9's, do you guys think I would get a little more "punchiness" out of them? Secure the boxes to the underside of the deck using liquid nails or something? I'm looking to get more punchiness from my mids... I thought about the foam rings for the door panels, but I have to come up with something for the rear...THanks for the tip on the MLV... I will go ahead and place an order for some today. I put some closed cell foam on the perimeter of my headliner and it made a world of difference. I can't imagine what MLV will do... may even help the 6x9's play a little cleaner, since hardly an vibrations... it would be best if you read sounddeadenershowdown.com concerning mlv. MLV acts as a barrier, cld tiles dampen resonant, ccf decouples. i would suggest removing the mids, selling them, and improving the front stage. ^^ this. The Ethos will overpower your front stage. With my current setup 2 12" ethos, I have the sub stage set pretty conservatively as that is my very same issue. 6 1/2 crescendo cz with full sound deadening treatment. So yeah I will say a beefy, well executed front stage is very very necessary.

How you liking the 12's? I got a pair on order. getting anxious... Building enclosure as we speak. I'm having a hell of a time getting my tuning down to 32, so I settled at 33hz. Hope it doesn't affect the sound too much... I'd imagine these subs will still shine...I'm amazed at every video i've seen with these subs. Quentin has something good going on with this line. I'm sure it won't be too long before Ethos is a very common name... I'm also sure I just bought a set of "pure pleasure!" drivers. My Camry is going to BANG! What's nice is they seem fairly musical as well. Come on and get here... I've got 4K waiting for them! I absolutely love them! I went from a single fi bl 12 to these ( just an upgrade, loved the bl too ) and have beating them for a few months now, they surprise me all the time. I've got 5k+ songs on my iPhone and stuff that I didn't play on the Fi have become regulars on my playlist. They play EVERYTHING amazingly well. My demos start with some kind of everyday music just to show how musical they are. Then I play something to show how brutal they can be. They are on a Taramps 3k and could easily do more. To put it another way, I need to upgrade the front stage again, because I can completely drown it out. I could go on forever about them and Q himself, but ultimately the Ethos speak for themselves!

Agreed, from easy listening to rap, dubstep and even metal like I usually listen to. These subs never skip a beat. I have yet to find something they struggle with.

Look at you getting famous! I can't get over how loud and clean my 2 12" ethos are, but your truck has got to scare the shiznit out of everyone that gets a demo. Damn nice work!!!
