Is this a 4th Order Bandpass??

Its all scraps of half inch mdf that I used to practice kerfing for my Logitech sub box. I'll find something to do with it. Im 90% sure I'll just go out and buy more 3/4 to replace the "Horrible MDF Box - 3.5^3 @ 37Hz". Lol. But I was just trying to distract myself from spending more cash. If I were able to put a couple 10" subs in that box though.... Is the design very far off from halfway decent 4th order bandpass?? Is the concept there at least??

Is this a 4th Order Bandpass??

All the wood is just sitting there and so are the speakers. That's all. If its not ganna work then I wont make it. Just bored and want to make something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

    1980 Camaro Subwoofer

Hi guys. Since I got my BL 15 I have no use for my Type R 12 and my buddy wanted to upgrade his system a little bit. I've done a couple installs but have no clue where to start with this. This is the system that got my into high output sound systems and now I really need to help him get things straight. He has two Blau Punk 12"s running at 170 wrms each mounted in two 5 gallon buckets. They are basically free air but when the truck is closed they actually have quite a bit of output. For what it is. Lol. Now he wants to fabricate a box for the new Type R 12 and run his amp bridged at 500 wrms. Any ideas would be awesome!! Here are a few pictures and measurements. Thanks everybody. He is willing to move the amp, tool box and spare around but they need to remain in the trunk. The drivers side of the trunk is lower than the passenger side. Its hard to see but its there. There are many bumps but this picture shows a bump at the end of the trunk before the back seat bracing. We have no clue how to make this box work. We would like to port it. I was thinking an aero port tuning 2+ cubic feet to 33hz. If ported can't work than we will go sealed.

    Inverted Subwoofer

Cool. That's what I thought but wasn't sure. I haven't tried to inverted my BL but I did try to mount my Type R D4 and the trim piece would not mount backwards. If mounting it backwards doesn't do anything performance enhancing I won't be mounting that way. Thanks for your imput.

    feeedback for Bassink

Once I found the SSA Forum I was going through all the classifieds and found a pair of PWX's that had been posted up for sale by Bassink months before. PM'd him to see if by some slight chance he still had the speakers. Turns out he did!! PM'd me right back, We came up with a good price and he was very helpful with shipping. Told me they would ship out the next day and sure enough they did. Great dude to deal with and I will also vouch for him as a buyer and seller. Thanks for all the help Bassink!!!!

    Noise from speakers?

Make sure to always sand down to bare metal where ever you decide to ground the amps.

  10. All your videos on youtube have helped me considerably. Keep up the awesome work!! I was just wondering though... Where did the BL go and the SA8V2 come in??

    Active Set Up

I recently acquired 2 Crescendo PWX 10's and was looking into adding one to my car to help over all output. I have three ideas for setting this up. First the speaker/s will be put in a custom fiberglass box to fit behind my center console in between the back seat. The speaker/s will be firing towards the front windshield. I have Type R 6.5 components up front and coaxial 6x9's in the back. The addition will be powered by a 2 channel MTX RT2100X amp. Here are my three ideas. 1. Bridge the amp on 4 ohms and run a single PWX 10 at 280 wrms and count on the Type R tweets being enough to keep up. 2. Run a single PWX on one channel at 85 wrms and a pair Selenium St200's running at 42.5 wrms each. 3. Pair a PWX 10 with a FT 1 tweet running both at 85 wrms. I'm looking for more overall output to my mid to higher end frequencies. The sub department is more than taken care of with my BL 15. Which one of those choices would you recommend OR how would you set this one up??

    Active Set Up

Im probly going to mount them to the inside of a cooler top, add a car battery and amp to use as a camping boom box. Lol. They would work perfectly for that since they won't go well with what I have in my car.

    Active Set Up

The only sound processing I have would have to be the crossovers on the amps and deck. If you can recommend something better, I will for sure look into it. Its really hard to pick speakers since theres no way to really hear them out here. Thank for your help M5.

    Active Set Up

My BL covers everything up to 80Hz. Then my Type R speakers come into play around 120Hz. My goal was to cover everything from 80Hz to 20kHz using a combo of the PWX and a tweeter/s. Increasing the output and volume that the Type R speakers already out out. Is there anyway to make this work since I already have the 10's sitting here not being used?? I will find a use for them just wanted more output in my car.

    1980 Camaro Subwoofer

Yeah. I can get some more pics and dimensions for you guys. Its the weirdest trunk ever. Lol
  17. ToXicFrOgXx

    Unbelievable...

That's crazy. You were just two orders after me. Your subs should be there anytime. And the BL is an amazing sub. Absolutely insane.

    1980 Camaro Subwoofer

The amp is mounted to a wood platform that is around the tool box. Lol. We could do a false floor but that would take a lot of space away from the actual demensions of the box. Its hard to tell but the left side of the trunk is about 3 inches lower than the right side. We are thinking about makin a fiberglass bottom and mdf for the rest of the box. How can we figure out how to port the box properly??

    1980 Camaro Subwoofer

I have some expirence with ported boxes. I went through mutiple boxes setting up the small sub for my xbox surround sound and also for my Type R 12. I found that the Type R likes 2.4^3 @ 33Hz. What Im asking is how do we make a box that will fit in his car because it cannot be an exactly square box. Im thinking a fiberglass box that molds to the trunk but then how can we tune it to the right frequency??
  20. ToXicFrOgXx

    build or buy subwoofer enclosure

Torres Box Calculator was just recomended to me by someone on this forum. It is very helpful to play around with demensions and see what kind of tuning and space is available. You can mess with it until you find something that is close to the optimal size and tuning recomended by the manufacture... Im ganna repeat what the two posts ahead of me have said. If the skills and tools are there. Building a box would be a better choice.

    1980 Camaro Subwoofer

Any drilling from here on out will be double and triple checked. This system was installed years ago and hasnt had any problems.

    1980 Camaro Subwoofer

Yeah... The airspance in the trunk is small enough to isolate the sound almost like a super terrible bandpass. Lets just say he knew nothing about how subs worked when these were installed and niether did I. So a port is a cut to allow air out. But Im trying to help his system as much as I can now. Lol. So run a port out of the box and have it come up through the hole that looks present in one of the photos?? Would that transfer more sound into the cab without actually having the speaker in the cab?? The most difficult thing with this install is the space available. A square mdf box is not going to fit. Is fiberglass the only option we have here?? And if so how can we tune the enclosure to the proper frequency??
