  1. The amp is 150 rms per channel so it's not crazy over power when rms is 100 rms per side on the sundowns. The real question now is should I ditch the kappas and just run the sundowns. If the kappas truly a 2 or 3 ohm speaker like they state wouldn't it be robbing power from the sundowns being a 4 ohm load?

  2. No the math is not difficult, with the kappa saying it's a 2ohm load mixed with the sundown that's a 4 ohm load I would have a mixed ohm load. Power across that would be less to the sundown. On my dmm the kappa is showing me a 3ohm load though. But with the kappa wired in and the sundown components on each channel with the dmm I'm getting a 5ohm load! With each channel wired in parallel shouldn't my load be lower then 5ohm?

  3. Installed  a self exciting high output alternator worked fine once installed but once the car sits over night if the temperature drops below 30 degrees the next morning when I start the car I'm not charging, voltage is at 12.3 I have rev up to 3k still it takes probably 20 seconds or more before my voltage goes up to 15.1... on warm days and nights never an issue. .what could be causing this?

  4. I have seen where jacob has said the test is full range down to 20hz on 100 watts RMS and will handle much more with crossover setting on the low end.. So say I set my hpf at 100hz 12db slope should I be OK with 150 watts RMS per side them I would think so.

  5. The sub box is 2.0 cubic ft per sub tune at 34hz with Sundown sa 12. I've heard that with tunning below 35hz your lpf should be around 80hz or below! Any truth to that? And shouldn't the lpf slope play a part say if 80 hz was best is that with a 12db slope or 24db or does that even mater?

  6. Shop set his gain with a o scope on a 40hz -10db tone..

How arbitrarily stupid. Not sure what they thought the scope brought to that game. Doh.gif
we went back set the gain by ear crossover now around 75 to 80hz. Over all sounds much better... The clip light flickers on hard notes but was told not a big issue.

  7. Shop set his gain with a o scope on a 40hz -10db tone.. We definitely got to lower the gain down . from what I take with how that set the gain it would have the amp trying to put out 1000 watts+ or better... Hu is a 4 volt pioneer and the amp gain is slightly past half way.

  8. Setting up this sa 12 in my brothers car its in a 2.25 ported box tuned to 34hz. It's in a eclipse . if we get the crossover past 60hz the sub sounds horrible. Should the sa be able to play naturally past that say up to 80 or 90hz?

Yes, the problem is probably in the gain setting. What amp are you using?
    its a Sundown saz 1500 running @ 2ohm
    one d4 sub
