Hey guys
Soooooo I was at one of the local dives last week and the DJ told me about a friend of his having an album release party on a yacht out on Lake Travis, Austin in a few weeks, and I figured it would be a good opportunity to promote my side work... Been milling over a few designs and decided to get the UV Gloss, double sided stock to print them on, I'm probably going to order them within the next few days to get them on time, anybody have any suggestions or anything?
The slogan there is not finalized I just kinda made somethin up off the top but if anyone has any better ideas lol!
Thanks

Yeah we had this really top notch packing material at work a few weeks ago, it's like that Tempurpedic memory foam stuff, I was gonna grab some but the vato we were working for is a real hardass I didn't want to chance it lol. No worries man I will figure something out, I always pack well

Looks awesome man, just out of curiosity... what kind of paint did you use? Like a hi-temp enamel or something for engines would be my guess... thanks!

You make it look so easy Hugo!!
As the guys said I bet a full sound deadening job would do the trick, especially since the trunk is your enclosure.
Oh and would you mind shooting me a PM with your number again man? New phone FTL
Here's to the best installer in the U.C. area! :drink40:

How do you like it compared to your Q's, any pros or cons? Glad you got some bump already
Hehe, well with the couple of weeks I had her rigged up in my backseat and have been gently breaking her in, I like what I hear. Jon was telling me that the Nightshades are designed to be SPL woofers, but as I learn with every setup I own that the woofer's performance is 90% install dependent... It sounds good on music but I think for that purpose the box is a tad small... I believe he said it was about 4 cubes, you can hear it in the frequency response as the low end rolls off pretty steeply... probably an excellent box for scoring high on the TL but I'll definitely give her some more breathing room in the next enclosure! And then I can write a proper review!
Took the box out today, it's serving an excellent purpose as a coffee table in my room for now
That should beat pretty good man. got something for ya tomorrow
I have the next few days off unfortunately so I'll run up to HD or Lowes and score some lumber and foam, and get these off to you already... can you email or PM me your shipping info? Thanks Steve!

lol definitely. Sooo... just realized how truly old this topic is but I'm not going to start a new one until I'm seriously ready to start on this build... lol!

Looks f*cking amazing man, all you need now are little hooks up front to hang ear protection from
And throw some ArmorAll on those subs already! lol
Oh yeah and Ryobi tools FTW they are very solid little things. Just picked me up that 18v drill and a jigsaw too but I think I have the lighter-duty jigsaw it's like 3amps or something compared to the 4amp one

Well as some of you know the Q's are toast... going to be sending them to Steve Mead here shortly. Drove up to San Marcos... left with Jon's 18" Sundown Nightshade (also reconed by Steve) and he tells me it will handle up to 3k daily and 7k burp... after riding around for a couple weeks with it in the backseat hooked up to my AQ2200D I went ahead and took it out so I can finish parting out my system.
Spent the last couple of weeks gently breaking it in, it sounds great off of 2200watts but it will sound even better with more power... so I'm going to spend the next couple of months gathering my thoughts and materials to plan this next build... I want to integrate it into the trunk instead of just having a big ole clunky box back there. Whatever it is it's going to have to be sub up, port front configuration.. I will most likely get in touch with Chris over at Fisher Customs again for the box design since he did a great job on the last.
For the amp I'm thinking either a SAZ-3000D or maybe one of those Crescendo 3k's that Vic was running...
Oh, and probably going to remove my non-working air shocks from the back and put some stiffer passive shocks in the back to cope up with the extra weight!
Just a few pics

I don't know anything about the tires, never heard of anything about them. But I can tell you this was not the tires' fault at all. The one in the top pictures with the cuts on the sidewall was ran flat. You can tell because there's a little indentured/wear ring in the middle of the sidewall. That only happens when a tire is ran flat because of the way the sidewall bends when it has no air and how the rim exerts pressure from the weight of the car on the tire. Also, no tire regularly wears like that on just one side. That's all the suspension's fault.
Nope that tire was not run flat. It held pressure up until the day I took it off.

dont over do it again!! lol
Naw man the last time was due to clipping not over-powering them with good clean power

Why sell the 2200. That's plenty o powa
It has to be able to take more bro... the Q's were considerably louder off the AQ! It's barely moving the Shade

lol this is just for a day or two I'm going to sell my AQ2200D and take a lil while to plan out a good setup for this beast

LOL so I am now the proud new owner of a fresh 18" Nightshade thanks Jon! And Steve for the recone
Got her hooked up temporarily to my AQ2200D she's laughing at the power right now... but I figure it will be good to break it in with. Will post pictures of the ghetto setup later

Bummer man. May your Qs vaya con dios.
F*ck it, nothing last forever. If the gods want you to move on, do it graciously and with style. More power to you.
If you need some help let me know. I've got shade and some tools.
Thanks bro! Shade is one thing I lack lol unless it's after 5pm I can use the apartment building as shade

Wait, a brown beer bottle!?!?!?!?!
So much for the Dos Equis my friend
lol!!!
It's a Japanese beer I still stay exotic
Except during the week it's puro Bud Light
An interesting man with an interesting budget lol
What dimensions do you have to work with?Honestly I would have to measure again but with the 15's, I barely had enough room to mount the subs front-ways like that
But that box is 7 cubes after displacement I would probably go with about 4 this time

I'm driving up to San Marcos here in a bit to scope out that Nightshade...
Anybody be interested in the motor/baskets from the Q's? Nothing wrong with them, recone kits are $90 from Fi.
Qs are sold!!!!!!
lol beat me to it thanks Steve.
Dang all this peer pressure it's like I'm trying to quit smoking for a while and you guys are waving cigs in my face... lol jk
I still don't know how I'm going to integrate an 18" woofer into a car trunk. I would have to build a sub top, port front box or something like that right?

I like the goal you have in mind for this build. I think you should give glassing pods a shot, it's nothing too difficult and there are plenty of good tutorials around the net!
