  1. Mainly because that's where the TermLab is. The way I see it, he already shelled out all the cash for the testing equipment, might as well give him a break on the driving. I hope going to San Marcos doesn't deter you Houston people! ...we'll have punch... and pie... maybe.

If by punch you mean caseloads of beer and by pie you mean BBQ then I am certainly down for that

  2. Hey guys,

There seems to be some really big interest in a Texas meet-up this year I see from the responses you all have been posting! Many of you turned up last year in San Marcos and we all had a great time (aside from it being 300 degrees outside... lol!)

But anywho, the purpose of this thread is first and foremost to see who all would be interested in meeting up this year... anyone from our San Antonio/Austin area, to the DFW area, out to Houston, and anywhere in between! Last year we had a little difficulty finding a spot, but Big Jon eventually took us out to an empty field where we were free to hang out for a few hours and get metered (his buddy has an audio shop we were hanging out at, but the sheriff ended up coming by and kicking us out due to a noise complaint :ehh: )

And secondly, we need to discuss date and location. Will probably need Jon's help again with this if he is able.

Had a great time with you all last year and would love to do it again... please post your thoughts, comments, suggestions etc. !!!

So, without further ado.... I officially announce...

    Let the games begin!!

  3. keep in mind that the fumes are themost dangerouse part of gasoline.

and that is why i am worried.

Hmm, well if you went the route of putting a new/used one back on maybe you could isolate it from the vibrating undercarriage somehow with some sort of insulation... weatherstripping, maybe some duct tape and Maxi pads or something?? lol MacGuyver that shit Jon

  4. It was a fun get together. Kind of last minute, but that's the only way they work out. :P Big thanks to Matt for putting it together and inviting. Big thanks to BigJon for the term-lab time and coming out. I'm totally pleased with my 135.8 in the kick, all windows closed and driver side door open. I did it on a sweep from 1Hz to 60Hz. The peak was in the low 30's could be in the high 20's, not sure. Viva infinite baffle. Ha ha. It's good meeting you, Inkfx. Can't wait till next time.

Alex is to thank I didn't even think I was going to make it at first ;)

But yes next time we shall sound-off, drink, and be merry :OhYeah:

    :smileyho:

  5. Well this was just a mini-meet, we would really like to plan something bigger like we had last year, with the great turnout we had. The problem is finding a date that is good for everybody. Maybe we can shoot for June again? That would give everyone a few months to plan some time off or what not.

Hugo's setup really is amazing... In the backseat you can feel the movement on as little as 5Hz :trippy:

Jay-Cee - I'm going to be in Dallas around the first of May... but... I probably won't have my car, I'm going with a friend of mine who's celebrating her birthday and she's driving :P

  6. I did a 139.6dB on the last run with that Bass Mechanix CD Hugo brought.

Had a lot of fun. It was good to meet who I didn't know already. The kid who came up to us was just priceless. "You should get some Kickers bro". haha. Jons Nightshades are just absolutely ridiculous. Makes me want a major upgrade now.

    Fixed.

And I told that kid to buy some Funky Pups :fing34:

  7. Hey guys,

We had a little meet-up today in San Marcos... just a few people including myself, Jon, Alex (inkfx) and Hugo (onebadmonte). Did a few TL runs, attracted the attention of a kid who drove by and tried to sell some Kicker subs to Jon :lol2: (thanks btw I still have a slight headache haha).

Scores (Correct me if I'm wrong):

    Hugo - 135.8 ?

    Alex - 139.6

    Matt - 143.1

Jon - Umm.... technical difficulties?? lol! Loud as hell but the TermLab wasn't registering it for some reason

  8. Ok... well I've had my iPod for about 4 years now, and have never really used the syncing feature (call me a control freak or whatever, I just like to control what gets transferred and when).

Now, in an effort to keep things more organized, I've started Syncing. However... when I add a few new songs to the iTunes Library, and click "Sync", it completely erases everything on the iPod and systematically copies it all back onto it. I don't understand why it's doing this at all as it's already done this once and is registered to this copy of iTunes.

There's an option to only copy certain playlists, but this does no good it just erases everything else and re-copies the selected playlists onto the device. Am I doin something wrong here?

    Thanks guys :trippy:

  9. I had this one too from Bass Boy.

    Blinded by Bass

    Goes through the frequencies.

@BigRank - Funny you should mention Bass Boy I was listening to that track I Love Big Speakers or something like that... haha good stuff. I burned an "old school bass" mix for when we head up to see Big Jon tomorrow. Can't get enough of the classics!

  10. please, that would be great to add to my sig .....

not sure what the (PSD) is....but i am all ears....lol

    chop

PSD is a document native to Photoshop, saves all the layers and such so it can be edited later on. If you just want something for your sig and like it the way it is a JPG/GIF/PNG will suffice :fing34:

  11. OK... was just messin around and came up with this new idea kinda the equivalent of scribbles on a notepad right now. I don't know what it is but I've been making "dark" beats lately, with organs and choirs and stuff like that let me know what you guys think or if you would prefer something a little more upbeat?

  12. Chop: Which part of the song were you referring to? The intro with Katt Williams or when I came in?

yeah the part with Kat Williams, also the first part of the IAK Oldskool, i like this sort of approach.....

definetly like hearing IAK in there, perhaps several times within the finished song....

this was not too fast pace for me, however it might of slowed down after :36 quite a bit, rather it stay a little more upbeat through out.

i bet i have done demo's of your different styles a dozen times in the past 2 days, showing the family and some friends all of this.

i am very excited about it. I can se you are very capable, it is just a mtter of me catching up to speed, in order to know what

    terminology to use, lol......

i see the reerance to old school popping up, that is some cool stuff, i would imagine the other half of my crew, who has not been able to respond yet,

would want a newer approach. lol. most of thier music is ganster, street.....not sure what to call it, lol

    we, really appreciate this!

    chop

Heh that's one of my problems sometimes I can get carried away and get really eccentric I guess you would call it, lol... that last part with the strings was kind of a spur of the moment thing. But never fear we will get this put together! A quick overview of new school vs. old school styles as I see it... your opinion may vary ;)

With the old school bass mixes... I find that the percussion is a lot more complex and plays a much bigger role in the music... the tracks tend to be dynamic; always changing samples, synths and instruments keeping you on your toes. Stuff like bigrank mentioned (

    ).

A new school street sound might be quite a bit slower, feature less instruments and keep the flow of the song much more guided and predictable... not necessarily any better or worse after all it's a completely different sound. Comparing the two head to head is apples to oranges. A faster example of this would be Timbaland's Elevator (the instrumental I used in Already Faded) but more often than not it's the sound something like this (

... which I must mention is the loudest song I have besides straight test tones... lol!)
