(2) 12" RE XXX XBL^2 04-05 build
cloud77 posted a topic in SPL & SQ / FabricationWell, here are the components to the dream build. Just finished the last one up last night. (2) RE XXX 12" OEM coil 1 stiff, 1 soft spiders Original full face dust caps Amps MMATS HD4000.1 MMATS SQ4100 Speakers: (2) Sets of Infinity Kappa 6.5 components Electrical: Singer 250A 3 runs 2/0 Duralast platinum(front) (still needing rear batteries) Vehicle: '04 Pontiac Grand prix Enclosure talk: I have experience with this driver in different sizes, and had always had good results with the enclosures for them. Haven't done a multiple woofer set-up for almost a decade, but this is what I was thinking.. 4.5 cu. ft. L port, double baffle, window bracing, 45s Going to start with subs back port back, and if I want to I will flip the box around and seal a trunk wall. Anyone with experience with these drivers want to chime in? I'm thinking with the power I had I would want to keep air space around 2 cubes each. Would also contemplate center port, but would change up bracing a bit. Gotta wait for the weather to break to get this built! Now for the photo shoot...

Enclosure question - bracing/polyfill
cloud77 posted a topic in General AudioI'm currently in the process of reconing a 2004 RE XXX v3 15" woofer and haven't made the enclosure yet. I'm planning on building a 3.43 cu. ft sealed enclosure to house this monster, as my goal is more on the ""SQL"" side. The sub's displacement is .21 I've come to a design and have my cut sheets marked and ready to go, but I wanted to see if anyone could provide some input on if I should brace this box with a horizontal or vertical support? Does the enclosure absorb and vibrate this much with that back pressure to where I should brace the box? If so, what materials should I go about using? a piece of wood is fine? The box will have a double baffel, and be receiving about 1400-1600 wrms. I never actually found enclosure recommendations for this driver, but I am open to suggestions. I've only researched successful enclosure designs done by people in the past. Another question is polyfill..Should I use a lb or so to fool the sub into thinking its in a bigger enclosure? Please educate me. Keep in mind another reason Here's a link that helped me decide on an enclosure design: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/member-reviews-product-comparisons/109015-2005-re-audio-xxx-15-review.html Keep in mind, I would go ported if I could, but I dont have enough space in my trunk. I have max like 3.8 cubic ft for a ported.
Re XXX v3 motor
cloud77 posted a topic in Subwoofers / SpeakersI've acquired an RE xxx v3 with the xbl^2 technology I think its a 2005 version. I have just ordered a recone from Fi along with a 15" 12 spoke basket to get some work done in the trunk. I was thinking of putting this 15" driver into a 3.23 cu ft sealed enclosure. but I'm open to ported, displacement on this thing is like .23 cu ft. I am running a mmats d300hc (no subsonic, eq, boost, exc.) and it pushed an Fi Q to the max. in my previous setup. I do not doubt its power and capabilities of the amps control for this set up. I am very impressed with the Qs ability to get loud while sounding oh so sexay both sealed and ported. Has anyone ran these drirvers in the past and want to share? Car is a 2004 pontiac gp, haven't felt the need to sound proof, so I don't feel the need to increase power as of yet. I also have a mmats d2000.1 that I am not using in this setup. I will try and post a build log to an extent but can anyone input on a recomended enclosure size for this driver, maybe use polyfill on this sealed enclosure?
