New poster to the forum. I was away from car audio for 12 years or so but I gave in to the bug again in the last 6 months. I am shopping for a new sub at this time. Waiting on the GCON to be re-released, as I have been looking at many different subs and it seems to be the best fit in my price range. I bought a JL 12w3 last year but my car audio rust was showing, as I bought it on ebay and it blew with no abuse. Now I am looking to do it right this time and landed here at SSA.

Hey everyone, Finally decided to sign up here at ssa audio forums. Ive been lurking ROE ever since the beginning of its time, but knew of SSA as well. Figured I better get a start and check out these forums since Sundown Audio rocks this part of the net. But all good. Hope to meet some of you on here. Thanks and take care!

  6. Hey everyone, I'm Brandon and I've been lurking on your boards. Learning, admiring, drooling. I work in the car audio field, but I'm sick of the brands my store carries. I have general questions, but until I gain a little credibility, I won't bother y'all yet. My daily driver is a 2000 quad cab Dakota. Small system installed just to get me by. Alpine 9855 HU, Alpine Type R doors, 8"L5, XD700/5. New truck=new sound. 2000 Harley F150, extended cab, all stock right now. I'm raising the seat up and debating between the sa-8 and the sa-10 I'm more of a sealed box guy, but always willing to step outside my comfort zone. Thanks in advance for the welcomes and help. I…

Well built this Powerwheel for my son to compete in USACi and MidwestSPL competition. I had an old 12" pioneer sub in it but now I am thinking about building a box for an 8" sundown. I have an SA-8 v1 sitting in my garage I am going to play around with. Right now I am using an 10yr old Sony MP70 headunit, along with a 12yrd old American Bass CX-1500 Amplifier. I will post some pictures up as soon as I get my thread count up enough. Plus for some reason my company has Photobucket blocked at work. So it might be tonight before you see anything

Just threw two x18 v.2s in my Yukon in a 15 cu ft box on an SCV4000. Very impressive, but I developed coil rub after just a month. It's really strange because there is no felt rub when you press down on the cone.. Actually, it only rubs when the coil is cold. After I pump one second of true RMS to it, there is magically no rub.. The other sub is fine. I monitor the clipping light religiously and the only time I see a red flash is on the attack peak of bass notes. From what I have researched, a slightly flashing clipping light is pretty normal and a fast flashing light is slightly overpowered. Solid red is clipping. \ As far as I can tell the sub is fine when p…

Just checking in. The last amp I installed in my own car was a Hifonics that was made in the USA and MB Quarts were the speakers to have. Yup, I'm gonna say it, times have changed. After a few weeks of catching up on what has been going on in the car audio world for the last 20+ years, by lurkin' the forums, I landed here. I'd like to say "Thank You" to all of SSA for providing a great place to gather information, ideas and purchase equipment.

Hi, I'm new to SSA but I'm on lots of other forums (12volt, clublexus, lexusownersclub, b20vtech, ect.) under the same screen name. I have completed a few very basic automotive audio setups in the past but I figure this is probably a great place to stay up to date. I also build custom enclosures for friends and sometimes other people with deep pockets. I'm unemployed at the moment so I may be on here often for info, advice and general forum BS. My current vehicle is a 2002 Lexus GS300 with a Kenwood DNX7100 HU wired up to a soundstream vangogh and JL500 amp pushing Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.5 components upfront and Polk Audio MMC6500 tweeters and crossovers paired wi…

I have decided that instead of pulling a 4chan and lurking for ever, I would join in on the conversation. Especially because i plan on getting a nice system before too long. I'm relatively new to car audio, even though i have been doing some homework on it, and I am a generally cool person. I am also a very funny guy (At the right times, of course) and i like to contribute valuable input on topics that i find interest in. Otherwise there is not much for me to say!

my name is Quade, i'm somewhat becoming an audiophile and was told this is the best site for subs and anything related. I have a Dodge Ram quad cab, I just built a front to back box for 4 12's. I'm currently deciding what 12s i want! I currently have two RE SE 12s and the xt4000-DE that I'd like to sell. I love that system, but I don't know if I should stick with the REs or go to Treo, JL, new Kicker, who knows what. If worst comes to worst, I'll just buy two more SE's I assume. Anyway, glad to be here, just following the rules. haha. And anybody else have huge truck boxes? Just wondering.

  19. Hey all, 1st virgin cherry-popping post here. Some folks on the CarAudio Forum highly recommended SSA for the outstanding lineup of amps etc. and even better price tags. I'm under the impression that these names here are young, hungry and trying to make a name for themselves while offering great values. So, I've only had 2 amps, both Kickers. One was about 2001, Impulse 405 which sounded great to start but destroyed my Excelon comps. Didn't know what clipping from underpowering was! 2nd was some 180w behemoth and the Alpine 505 IVA DVD player. DEF not high quality sound emphasis. Imprint junk blah blah. But in my Jeep are 2 sets of Diamond Hex 600's about 4y/o. The…

Picked up a Re XTX 5000.1 to run a 15" Z V.3. Right now i'm running a rockford t400-4 to 2 sets of t1675-s. I just put a new 170amp H.O alt and my lights are already dimming. With the new sub arriving friday i will be putting the Re in and don't think this batt will hold up. Any suggestions on a good batt that will keep this thing running smooth?

Hi SSA, I have been looking around car audio forums and have decided that this would be the best place to join as I am trying to get honest answers to some questions that I have about a system that I want to build. A bit of background on me. I am a resident of New Mexico and have a degree in EE. I have always enjoyed listening to all types of music and consider myself, at least somewhat, an listening enthusiast. I had an '03 Toyota Matrix upgraded with two of the OLD Alpine type R 10" subwoofers, Alpine head unit and a whole host of different components powered off a 45W alpine 4 channel amp. Alpine fan at the time. I currently have an '08 Chevy Cobalt Coupe wi…

Looking for suggestions on what subs to run . I've used kicker, fosgate , jl and alpine in the past but it has been a long time since I've had anything better than factory . The vehicle is a 2002 chevy 2500hd extended cab I put a pioneer 6500 in the dash it was cheap and had the features I wanted I bout nvx 6.5 components for the front doors (vsp65 kit) nvx 4x6 for the rear doors run off a pioneer GM-D8604 . I started out making a budget system I picked up a pioneer sub ts-w261d4 and was gonna run it off a older alpine I had in the closet collecting dust MRI-450 I think we'll long story short the sub sounds like a budget sub I tried both ported and sealed pioneers sp…

  24. Hay guys i got two questions about my setup. 2011 f150 with factory charging system with extra 1000 cca marine batterie "not a audio battery". I'm running 2 sae1500d amp on 4 sa15 subs. They are the rev3's and are 2ohm coil's. I am running the amps seperat gain matched "to the best of my ability" and I'm at . 5 ohms at each amp not counting rise. I have the rear seat out and built a good sturdy enclosure that's sealed good with a port that's tuned to 35 hertz. I'm over the recommend size on the enclosure I know at 19 cubes total shared air space but i did that do to the fact that i wasn't running very big setup on the amps, i know there getting the rated rms power but i a…
