  4. This will be my first time trying to do anything other than just straight swapping speaker for speaker. I have a '96 Jeep Cherokee Sport that i would like to stick a woofer in the "cubby hole" similar to this http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/write-up-97186/ . Except that i would like to avoid spray foam and just fiberglass the cavity. Is this feasible? Would it last? Also I would like to 'glass a replacement panel for the car instead of just hack up the original and hide the woofer. This is a Daily beater vehicle until i get around to finishing my classic car... and will probably remain a daily vehicle even after that. I was originally looking at SoundQubed's HD…

Hey guys, checking in for my first post. Looking to get my 01' Yukon XL wired up with a stealth step up.. I was in the game back in the early 90's, wow things have changed. The re-learning process is very overwhelming with all of the NEW names and the so called OLD names under new management products. LOL

I decided after raking up some posts at SD that it was pretty much a waste of time trying to learn anything over there, so I moved to Caraudio.com. I joined termpro and sin.net but they were both pretty slow, so I stayed away. Knew about this place but didn

I'm planning a system. So far, it's gonna be a havoc 12 with some sort of sundown powering it. Here's my issue: when it comes to ohms and all that other stuff, I'll admit I get a little confused. I was planning my system based on a simple premise: If amplifier A puts out X amount of watts at 2ohms, and you pair it with a 2ohm sub, you would get X amount of watts. Easy enough, right? Well now, I'm getting the impression that things go further than that. I had planned on getting a sundown 3500D amp, considering it puts out 1,750w at 2ohms. That with the 12" havoc 2ohm sub would be a nice fit, right? (AA states the havoc to be 1,250RMS and I could go easy on the amp power) B…

Hi, my name is Mark, I was really into car audio up until about 7 years ago or so. Now I suddenly find myself interested in it again. It's kind of strange to see how much has changed, I feel like a total noob again but oh well. Either way, hi.

Hello, I joined this forum to learn about this new company SoundSplinter, well at least new to me. Speaking of which how long has SS been around. To be honest I have been a JL Audio Fan, they make the best Amps hands down. But I don't think there subs are a good value at all. So I have been in search of a new subwoofer to replace my 12w6v2's. I am now a father, (my son just turned 1 last Friday!) So I don't have the need or space for big bass system. But I still want to crank it when I am ridin solo. I actually just reinstalled my system about a week ago, because babies and pregnant woman don't like bass. I am looking to get a single 8 or 10. The RL-I8 is very impressive…

Hey guys. I found this forum while searching for info on Fi subwoofers. Though I'd join and read up, gain some knowledge. Not a total noob to car audio, but I'm far from a pro. I've installed HUs, wired amps up, simple speaker installs. That's about it. Building a ported enclosure (which I'm thinking about doing w/ whatever 12 I end up getting) would be the most involved I've gotten probably. Great site. I'll be doing some lurking and a few posts here and there. Oh and I guess I'll list my set up as it is now. 2002 Bonneville SSEi Pioneer deh-p6000ub HU Hifonics TXi-4008 2 channel for comps (100w x 2 at 4 ohms) Alpine SPX-17ref 6.5 components no rear fill Profile…

  22. I need a complete new system so it's good that I was able to find this site b4 i made any reckless purchases. I need 2front and 2back speakers replaced. I also want a sub n amp that kicks HARD when i need it to but i can control the amount of bass easily. I've been looking at a single 12" VS12L7 kicker sub (2-OHM) in a SOLO-BARIC BOX with a HIFONICS BRUTUS BXi1608D 1600-Watt D-Class. Would this b a good combo for what I need? (sorry if my description on these 2 things dnt add up cuz i'm not sure wat any of this means). im also gonna need a new radio btw but i'll worry about that later

Just thought I would introduce myself. My name's Tim and I live in NC. I've been around car audio for 18-19 years. I used to be a sq competitor in IASCA and Slap in the 90's. I was a certified judge and trainer until 2003. I've been away from car audio for a while but not audio in general. I've been messing with home theater and audio. Just recently, I got interested in messing around with car audio again. Hopefully I can contribute some knowledge to the forums here. Thanks in advance for having me. Tim
