Hey guys. I found this forum while searching for info on Fi subwoofers. Though I'd join and read up, gain some knowledge. Not a total noob to car audio, but I'm far from a pro. I've installed HUs, wired amps up, simple speaker installs. That's about it. Building a ported enclosure (which I'm thinking about doing w/ whatever 12 I end up getting) would be the most involved I've gotten probably. Great site. I'll be doing some lurking and a few posts here and there. Oh and I guess I'll list my set up as it is now. 2002 Bonneville SSEi Pioneer deh-p6000ub HU Hifonics TXi-4008 2 channel for comps (100w x 2 at 4 ohms) Alpine SPX-17ref 6.5 components no rear fill Profile…

Hey what's up. I just got into the car audio scene because I just got a '06 Scion tC and want to upgrade the sound. In my old car I had an Eclipse head unit, MBQuart components in front and back, and an MTX amp powering it on. I didn't do much research...just went to CarToys and picked out what i liked in my price range. In my tC I plan on dropping a sub...so I've been doing a good deal of research through forums. I found this forum when a member referred me to it. I want to gain knowledge through you guys and share whatever I have learned myself on the way. So far I have picked out an amp but I'm still having a hard time figuring out what sub I should get. Any su…

I'm planning a system. So far, it's gonna be a havoc 12 with some sort of sundown powering it. Here's my issue: when it comes to ohms and all that other stuff, I'll admit I get a little confused. I was planning my system based on a simple premise: If amplifier A puts out X amount of watts at 2ohms, and you pair it with a 2ohm sub, you would get X amount of watts. Easy enough, right? Well now, I'm getting the impression that things go further than that. I had planned on getting a sundown 3500D amp, considering it puts out 1,750w at 2ohms. That with the 12" havoc 2ohm sub would be a nice fit, right? (AA states the havoc to be 1,250RMS and I could go easy on the amp power) B…

This is my first post on SSA. Apparently I registered a long time ago, but never posted here. I actually never heard of the website until I purchased an ICON about 2wks ago. I then came and tried to register on the forums, but they said my username was already taken (which has never happened to me before). I guessed a couple of my older p/w's and got it right, so now I can be a cool SSA member too!

I figured i would start one of these since i'm a n00b to this forum. I've been into car audio since my teenage years, and I know my way around installing the basics, and have even built a few slot port boxes. But, i joined this forum in hopes of learning more. There is a wealth of information on this forum, and i am trying to soak up as much of it as I can in my old age (ok, maybe i'm not that old). LOL.

Just thought I would introduce myself. My name's Tim and I live in NC. I've been around car audio for 18-19 years. I used to be a sq competitor in IASCA and Slap in the 90's. I was a certified judge and trainer until 2003. I've been away from car audio for a while but not audio in general. I've been messing with home theater and audio. Just recently, I got interested in messing around with car audio again. Hopefully I can contribute some knowledge to the forums here. Thanks in advance for having me. Tim

Purchased my SA-15, sax-1200d and 100.4 a few months ago, just starting to install everything now and as I'm in the design process for the sub box and amp racks, have a few questions for the box design. I'll be fiberglassing an enclosure into the spare tire well of my rsx, and would like to make it a sealed enclosure for the sake of making my life easy since it will be my first build. Where the hell is the search function on this forum btw?

Watsup guys, I'm new to this forum and in need of some advice. I bought a 00 mustang gt with the crappy Mach 460 system, the previous owner replaced the stock head unit w/ a Kenwood DDX418, love the stereo but it sounds horrendous with the stock sound system, I have compiled the speakers so far: DB drive speed series 6.5 components for the front and Hypnotic Zen 6x7 components for the rear. I need help choosing an amp ( I know i need something that is 4x80) and I need help choosing a set of 10" subs ( I was thinking of 2 kicker cvs subs in a flush mounted box) and an amp to power them. I want good clean studio sound, and I don't want to spend an absurd amount of money. Wh…
