Hey, I'm new here not to 12 volt electronics. I worked for ten years in the industry way back when I was 18-28. I worked for a few shops installing then eventually sales and then wholesale sales. I put a few point driven db drag shows back when it was called "USAC", Anyway I have decided to compete in spl again using fi subs. I had a couple of competition car's from the 90's, a buick regal with 12-12"s hifonics warrior's and two son of colossus amps(ZED Audio) and did a wopping 148 lol. I had a 93 probe with 8-12" Ground zero nuclear on 4 rockford punch 800's that did 149. I couldnt seem to break the 150 barrier as all those boxes were sealed as well and I think definitel…

I just found this forum. Been back in car audio for two yrs and really gotten serious about it over the winter. I built a wall which I am still experimenting with. 3 18" sealed ~20cu. on 1500 watts. 145.9 on tl w/drivers door open. I've had a lot of fun making vids for my YT channel (same name) I run some old school gear the sq cats used in the nineties you can see in my sig. It has been fun to re-purpose them for a low power ""SQL"" build. The car isn't finished yet and I think the wall will be rebuilt this fall for 6 18" sealed in a vertical clamshell. I post a lot of pictures and videos and update my YT all the time. My next project is to add a pair …

  11. Hey guys I am new to this site and I need help picking out a new sub. I currently have a alpine type r 15 and looking to get a new sub. I had a kicker zx500.1 on it but I just recently bought a Rockford T1000-1bdcp. I was looking at the Fi SSD 15 or the SSA Icon 15? Which Sub would sound better?hit harder? The sub would go in a 3.75ft box Net, tuned to 35hz.

My wife drives a 2003 Honda Accord V6 sedan. She has a 300 watts RMS at 2 ohm on the 5 channel amp and wants a sub. I was on DIYMA and someone suggested I look into the 12" SSA DCON. I read the specs and did some searching. The price fit our budget but my question is...how will this sound with 300 watts at 2 ohm in a sealed for example 1.0 to 1.20 cubic ft sealed box? I read that people prefer the ported box but I am looking for something sealed but I am open for suggestions. I was looking into one of these: Single 12" Sealed MDF Enclosure (12SQTC) 12" Sealed Subwoofer Enclosures Sealed Subwoofer Enclosures Car Subwoofer Enclosures Car Subwoofer Installation &am…

  22. Hello there, community. This is the first time I’ve actually joined an audio community and posted/commented within a thread. I’ve browsed many threads on various forums, which include the SSA forums, and I’ve actually gathered quite a bit of useful information/knowledge from doing so. I’ve had multiple sound systems throughout the years, which I have learned through trial and error some valuable tricks and what not to dos haha. My most recent system is the only one I haven’t actually fully wired and setup myself, because my vehicle has a dash/head unit that can’t be removed and doesn’t have a wiring harness. I let an audio shop install a sound processor (I’ve never r…

Just threw two x18 v.2s in my Yukon in a 15 cu ft box on an SCV4000. Very impressive, but I developed coil rub after just a month. It's really strange because there is no felt rub when you press down on the cone.. Actually, it only rubs when the coil is cold. After I pump one second of true RMS to it, there is magically no rub.. The other sub is fine. I monitor the clipping light religiously and the only time I see a red flash is on the attack peak of bass notes. From what I have researched, a slightly flashing clipping light is pretty normal and a fast flashing light is slightly overpowered. Solid red is clipping. \ As far as I can tell the sub is fine when p…
