I have been into car audio since I was 15, so almost 9 years now. But for the past 4yrs I have been married and no longer allowed anything to do with a stereo. Now due to other wonderful events in life (sarcasm) I am going thru a divorce. Time to catch up with the audio world and this time I can afford to go big. Spent most of my time on SIN/carstereos.org imsolost7886 over there also. Know quite a few of the guys on here from there, but again its been awhile so it'll be nice catching up with you guys also. Hopefully soon enough, I'll be back to answering questions instead of asking a bunch. Spent a good 10hrs between yesterday and this morning doing a lot of reading. Sti…

Hey all, 1st virgin cherry-popping post here. Some folks on the CarAudio Forum highly recommended SSA for the outstanding lineup of amps etc. and even better price tags. I'm under the impression that these names here are young, hungry and trying to make a name for themselves while offering great values. So, I've only had 2 amps, both Kickers. One was about 2001, Impulse 405 which sounded great to start but destroyed my Excelon comps. Didn't know what clipping from underpowering was! 2nd was some 180w behemoth and the Alpine 505 IVA DVD player. DEF not high quality sound emphasis. Imprint junk blah blah. But in my Jeep are 2 sets of Diamond Hex 600's about 4y/o. The…

I've finally decided to join the rest of the world and add my .02 on forums. I've been viewing posts on this site since '99. I collect O/S US Amps. Some might say I'm addicted...I have 18 sitting in my spare bedroom! I'm in the military stationed in Japan. Getting good deals on audio equipment here is hard to come by. Shipping here gets even trickier. Just wanted to introduce myself and say "Hello."

This is a repost from Here, I thought it was quite important for people to realize this when they are posting. Definition of Objective and Subjective Objective is a statement that is completely unbiased. It is not touched by the speaker’s previous experiences or tastes. It is verifiable by looking up facts or performing mathematical calculations. Subjective is a statement that has been colored by the character of the speaker or writer. It often has a basis in reality, but reflects the perspective through with the speaker views reality. It cannot be verified using concrete facts and figures. When to Be Objective and Subjective Objective : it is important to be objective …

Well, if any of you might recognize my name, it's because I'm not exactly new to car audio or forums lol. I just haven't been on SSA yet. A friend told me to check it out, so why not. Glad to see some new faces and a new forum for a hobby and industry I'm so passionate about. I'm sure I'll answer as many questions as I can, more than I'll ask most likely. And I'm sure hanging out and shooting the shit will happen often enough as well. I look forward to checking things out and talking it up, guys.

Hi folks, new poster but old owner of a q12 sub. I love the driver but I can't use it right now because my bonehead buddy tore the surround with his finger lifting the sub up one day. There's a 1" horizontal tear in the surround now and I'd like to know if I can repair it or if I have to send it in for a recone. Also, it's an older dual stack motor, is there a way to figure out the options on it without tearing it apart? Thanx for any help.

Hey everyone, I used to be pretty big into SPL competitions back in the day and just joined up as I think I am getting back in the game. Ive had a project car for quite a few years in storage and looking to get ideas as to what to do next from any fellow members. Its a 94 Saturn and would like to start from scratch with another vehicle but unsure what to do with the Saturn. Anyways, looking forward to contributing in any way I can and learning a few new things along the way.

just realized after about a month of creating a account here and replying on some posts that I never took the step to post on the newbie forum. So here we are, my post on the newbie forum. Done most of my audio by myself and learned the hard way while paying through the teeth. Usually have worked with trucks in particullar that are very limited on space. Just finished my friends system in his extended cab toyota tacoma with two FI Q fully loaded 12's in a ported box on a Hifonics 2500, accidently had the amp wired down to .5 ohm's and fried it the first day . Gonna get him an amp for each and see how that goes. Currently researching some 8 inch subs that are budget fr…

Hi guys, i am fairly new to this so all/any help would be useful. i have a Optima 55 battery and the problem is that everytime i really test my car on Termlab the battery starts to clip/cutoff. The voltage drops from 14.4V to 11.8V. What can be causing this problem. My car runs on the IASCA format and does a 150.5dB in the Rookie Int. Class. the car clips at 150.5. I am really eager to know what this could be. Looking forward to your help guys. Thanks.
