Guess I better sign in here, since I already posted somewhere else first...oops. I have severe GAS(Gear Acquisition Syndrome).... Was MECP certified in High School. Installed throughout college, both home and car. Got out of the game in around 1998.... I collect mostly Zed, Orion, and Phoenix Gold amps...few others like the Alpine 3566, and the Denons with the funky heat sinks.... Also collect speakers...favorites are the JBL "1000watt" pro based drivers, and Orion carbon fibers. Would love to find some of the old Autotek subs....the ones with the BTS logo on the dust cap. I know they arent anything special(regular oem speakers), but just the fact I havent even seen one o…

Hey! I am new to this forum obviously. i came across it through soundsplinter's webpage. I am somewhat of a newbie to car audio. I just got into it about 2 months ago, but I have learned a ton since then. I'm currently running a pair of diamond m6 mkII 10's off a NINe.1 @ 1 ohm in a sealed box. They have awesome sq but they are lacking a little in the spl so I think I am going to upgrade to 2 rl-p 12's or a jl13w7. I probably should just build a ported box first but I found someone that wants to buy my subs for only 50 less than I paid for them. Besides, I really like the idea of being able to to play your subs loud then still have the ability to crank them up even more w…

Well, I was a lurker, and light user before, but I think I will take a better look at SSA I' am from SMD, and I guess I'am tired of seeing the same faces with the same comments over there, so I'am here now I'am a big audio enthusiast, been installing mobile audio since 96'ish, did 4-5 years of speaker assembly, design, and prototyping. I currently do a lot of reconing, and speaker modifications

Just thought I'd introduce myself. My system in my 00 sunfire is currently just cheap Duals from best buy, but have plans to upgrade it, which is why I joined this forum. I have a lot to learn and hope I learn a lot here. What makes me want to upgrade most is sitting in my friends grand am with just one 10" Alpine Type X. The Duals have been my first system and when upgrading I'm pretty much looking at going all out with, with a ton of bass, but still retaining good sound quality. At this point I don't really know what to look for, I don't really have a set budget. If I think somethings worth the extra cash, I'll buy it. The 15" Rockford Fosgate T2's are pretty expensive,…

Hello, I live in the French Caribeans where you don't have so much choice or informations on car audio. Thanks to all the internet forums ! I have a Toyota Auris (it is the new Corolla hatchback) with a little trunk. Here is my setup : hu Pionner 88 prs, speakers : focal 165KP (fr) and Davis Acousticscvt130(rear)on a Boston GT42 amp. sub:Kicker s15L74 on a Jl audio A1800D amp. Secondskin deadening,...... M sub is in a 4 cu ft sealed enclosure; and I really like the powerful output, but not so much the quality. I want to save some space in the trunk; I need a sub that can play very well in a 2 to 3 cu ft enclosure. I found the SSA Icon 15 or the FI Q 15 on the web, and thi…

Hello everybody, Just making an introduction post here on the ssa forum. First a little background about myself, I am 23 and have been in the car audio world since I was 16. I am an F-16 electrical/environmental systems specialist for the air national guard and write electrical repair manuals for John Deere and hitachi excavators. I first found out about ssa woofers on the smd forum. After doing some research, I decided to purchase some of the zcon series woofers for my newest truck rebuild. While bumping around the ssa website I ran across a link to this forum, and well here I am.. I hope to learn and spread any knowledge I can on here and look forward to seeing wh…

Hi all, Ive been trolling here for awhile getting ideas and researching various things and I finally have a reason to post. Im posting because I need some advice. I had 2 15" alpine type R subs come way for dirt cheap. $150 for both I need help deciding on an enclosure, an amp, and even a head unit. I honestly dont know my 'goals' as its been a very long time since I have had a system. A long time ago when they were new I had 1 MTX 9500 sub that I really enjoyed. I listen to all kinds of music, mainly rap/pop and rock with some heavier stuff (Avenged Sevenfold) This will all be going into a 1998 Eclipse GSX As far as budget, im somewhat flexible, Lets say I'd like to s…

I was wondering if Fi's RE sx recone (or PSI's standard 12-spoke basket with recone stuff) will work for a newer RE sex or sxx with the black (stupid looking) baskets. i want to turn my sex 10's into decent-looking 12's but want to be sure it will work before i start on my mission lol.
