Ok, I got a package from Don the other day and started deadening my doors today. I started with the passenger side first. I applied the CLD on inner doorskin outer door skin, cut the ccf and mlv and glued them together. I made small square cut outs for the clips and only a few of them will engage and clip to the door. I'm so damn frustrated with wrestling with this thing, any ideas? Maybe cut the squares around the clips larger?

So I have very limited knowledge on deadening. I am leasing my 2011 civic the road noise is pretty significant. I want a little more midbass from my doors and don't want to do a lot considering its a lease. Should I just do the door skins and not cover all the big holes incase I need to replace say a power window motor under warranty or something. I'm not wanting to deaden the entire car just front doors and maybe the trunk. I was also looking at dynamat extreme on ebay for what seems a good price. 18x32 roll for $25 you tell me if that's a deal or not. thanks

Hi need help from you guys who understands soundproofing and noise better. I've recently soundproofed the trunk and the floor pan of my VW passat. Used CAE equivalent of dynamat, CAE VB4.5 , 3M thinsulate. Firstly the road noise "seemed" louder but I'm guessing it is because I've brought the whole noise floor down too much and therefore accentuating road noise further. Secondly there seems to be pressure building up my ears and it's causing minor irritation whenever I drive. My guess is the deadening lowered the resonant frequency of the car panels too much causing it to resonate and drone. The drone is quite low frequency and it is not very audible. You c…

http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?t=1&products_id=53 What do you guys think? I was going to use it to deaden the inside of my door panel and maybe on some bare metal areas too. If this isn't worth my time then what else can I spray/apply to the inside of my door panel to make it a little more solid?

Is there any benifit do deadening an enclosure? I have thought about using a product called "green glue" sandwiched between two layers of mdf. It is intended for use between drywall and it is amazing! I used it in my condo and do not jear the neighbors at all anymore. It converts sound energy to heat and disperses it through the material. http://www.greengluecompany.com

what are peoples go to's for damping exhaust noise and engine/valve train noise? i have already done the firewall and trans tunnel but I'm also looking to mute things at the source a bit. the high temp of the engine bay is the hurdle i think. id also like to do something to keep the heat from the manifolds, turbos, and exaust from anything else.

So I think the next thing I want to do is reduce the rattle of my trunk due to my subwoofer. I put some foam and heavy duty tape between my license plate and the trunk, which stopped the rattle there easy enough. But I think most of the rattle in the trunk is from the top of the trunk. Seem to be a common issue? It is my understanding that adding sound deadening materials to the top of the trunk should reduce the rattle quite a bit, and potentially help increase the amount of bass I hear in the front? But also, wondering which sort of sound deadening material is decently priced and would do a good job? Trying to figure out cost of materials and types of things I…

After fixing the trunk , had some leftover MLV and I suddenly had an idea of putting it in the rear wheel arch. If I can block the noise at the source, then it would be more efficient right? Removed the wheel arch liner and placed the MLV around 1/3 all the way from the bottom(see pics). What surprises me is that there is more drone than before. Help me understand this , how does placing a sound barrier on the wheel arch increase the drone, I can't wrap my head around that. It seems totally unrelated.

Sweet build going on in Corona, CA using Second Skin sound and heat insulation to give the driver some relief from that HUGE engine on his back. Damplifier Pro (CLD) to kill the vibration and Luxury Liner Pro (MLV) to help tame down some of that engine noise and thermally insulate. Can you guess what vehicle is being built here?

Hey Guys, So I have a 93 Honda Civic Sedan and Im looking to achieve some modern age luxury car silence out of this thing. Now, you might think that isnt too hard but I have swapped out the standard 1.6 engine for a new JDM Type R 2.0 liter engine with a fat exhaust. I've got solid engine mounts that send vibrations throughout the car to make matters much worse. Now, Ive gone with good ol' Second Skin for my brand of choice and getting it locally via the Second Skin representation since I am from South Africa. Now, Ive plastered Damplifier Pro throughout the interior of the vehicle (1 layer, with a 2nd layer in the boot area and outter layer of the doors) (but have nothin…

I want to deaden the doors in my Escape so you can't hear the door speakers outside. Currently there is a factory deadener/insulation behind the plastic door panel, so that would come out and be replaced. What should I use to replace that and then what should I use to cancel noise from leaving the cabin? And how much of each for four doors.

Im about to redo my dodge ram 1500. I will be tearing out all carpet, seats, etc and deadning as much as i can. Right now i just have dynamats on all 4 doors and my back walls. I maybe want to add to the doors with something just dont know what? I bought the speaker pad things that go behind the speakers in the door but that is all so far. For the floor i wanna out some deadner down at least and maybe some type of mat or something, can anyone give me some direction in these areas?

Some weeks ago I bought a sheet of Dynamat Extreme (4sq feet) to check out if it really helped about the rattling. I knew 4sq feet was pretty much small, i couldn't even fill half of my trunk lid, but I just wanted to know if it really does a difference. (Im short on my budget haha) I thought it did, because at this time I was using my sealed box, but when I put back my ported box, rattling was horrible. When I say horrible, I mean that I set my sound as little as 5-6 (there is little to no bass inside my car, even if the rear seat is opened) and my trunk lid actually rattle... I know ported box causes air displacement because of the port, which causes more rattling, but…

Trying to get some ideas on how much I need to complete my Mercedes C230 coupe. If I have a lil bit extra left over that is ok too. I have two other cars that could use some. I wanted to use spectrum instead of CLD but I'm kinda worried about the over spray. Kinda why I was leaning towards the sludge instead which can be applied with a brush. I've seen a few vids that show it isn't that much but I would need to completely tape off my dash and all the windows for the spray. Plus i have quite a few plastic parts inside that spectrum wont adhere to. I also had thot about using luxury liner pro instead of buying the MLV/CCF seperate but it was cheaper this way. Th…

I have a 03 ford explorer that I'm planning on doing a full build on soon hopefully over the winter. I have a seasonal job so I'm free all winter. I want to do this the right way so I figured I would start with sound deadening. I think I'm going to go with second skin damplifier but I'm unsure about how much I will need to order. I think I will do the roof and the doors rear hatch included. Does anyone know approximately how many sq. feet I would need?
