We had a slight goof on a production run which has a wee bit too stiff of a suspension for our original goals. Our choices are to send them back to the build-house and have them rebuilt or offer them at a blow-out price of $160 including shipping for those interested in an IB. My build-house is giving me a good break because it was their mistake. Compare this to the Dayton Audio IB Subwoofer @ $120 with less than half the available excursion (which you will need with an IB sub) and you will find this is an unbeatable value. These are based upon the Adire Audio Brahma motor so they have a healthy 26-27 x-max with the XBL^2 motor highly optimized in its fourth …

Alright, Aaron has pushed me to start looking into this... I would like to hear your input on what it is you would like to see in an 8" size. There are so many brands to chose from nowadays, from big-box companies to boutique 'internet-only' proprietorships. Some really good, some not so good. What is it about the 8" you purchased that made you decide to get it? Best, Mark

Official Mach 5 Audio Logo Competition Many folks were asking when a Mach 5 Audio logo was going to be produced. Since graphics design is certainly not one of my strong points it was suggested to me that I leave it you all to come up with ideas. So with that, here are the contest rules: * The logo can contain the words 'Mach 5 Audio' or have a combination of letters and/or words that signify the Mach 5 Audio term * The logo can have a graphic * You can enter as many times as you like * Contest closing date is April 30, 2007 Simple enough... You can email me your logo ([email protected]) or send them via PM through this forum. The judge will be the Mach 5 'CEO', sin…

This build log will hopefully provide enough information to those folks who are interested in the SPL-12 for high volume car audio use. The criteria consists of: - Mach 5 SPL-12 wired for 4 Ohm use - 3.8 cubic foot bass reflex enclosure tuned to 46Hz - 2001 Pontiac Bonneville - Crest CPX-3.0 PA amp providing 3000 watts power into 4 Ohms - CD source with all necessary test tones - TermLab ****************************************************** Here starts the frankenbox Frankenbox meet frankendriver Box inside trunk Details Box tuning turned out lower than expected as the impedance measurement shows below. The port tuning ended up being 40Hz and not my expected 46Hz. F…

Hi Everyone, Its taken quite awhile to get this finished, but we are finally there. The IXL-18.4 is now ready for production and I am offering folks a decent introductory price for those of you who want it now. Here are the specs of the driver and a few shots: Fs = 15.4Hz Re = 3.2Ohm Qms = 4.87 Qes = 0.39 Qts = 0.36 Vas = 556L Sd = 1029.2cm BL = 15.1 Mms = 228g Cms = 0.37mm SPL = 89.2 Xmax = 22mm Pre-Order Information This is NOT your typical 'pre-order' process in that 100% paid-in-full funds are being requested. Instead, I am requesting a $20USD non refundable "commitment" deposit (per driver) from those of you who wish to get in on the ground level. In return, yo…

Here it starts - Dennis' Mach 5 Audio 'Bitch' van build. Dennis was kind enough to donate one of his vans to the cause of getting down and dirty on what I would call a budget-based high volume vehicle. Since he hasn't started a build log, I decided to "help" him out. I'll let Dennis post info on the van make, model, amps used, and any other logistics that he feels are necessary. We met this passed weekend and measured things out - it is looking like eight (8) IXL-15.2.2 units will be fitted based on idea exchanges. So, hopefully with any luck, you will get updates from the both of us over the course of weeks. Now that the weather has FINALLY decided to cooperate, thin…

well I recently got an SPL 12 and I was doing some "breaking in" with the wall outlet. well the top layer of paper on the cone started seperating from the rest, and the cap eventually came off during regular use. My question is: Do I recone using mach 5 parts, or should I look for a tougher recone? Also, until I recone I will continue to use the woofer (gluing the cap back on) until I've decided. One more question directed at Mark. Is there any way that you could get different cones in?

  12. So we sent the prototyes of the FL1 and FL2 to Robin at BHE to test for us a few months back and since were new here I decided to post the results here. I had also sent the FL2 down to Taylor Fade in Baton Rouge to test as well. So here are the results that they came up with. Robin from BHE results were: Both amps were set to no distortion using the SMD-DD-1, and they were done in a vehicle that we build using a pair of PSi Platform 1's (750rms subs) and they took it like champs! the FL2 starting .25 and rising to 1.02 ohms put out 3416 watts on 10.4V the FL1 starting .25 and rising to .76 ran an astonishing 2996 watts with the voltage dipping down to 11.3V Taylors re…

  21. Whether we will remain on the forum is yet to be determined after all the drama over a couple of threads we are considering not staying. Since we seem to be invalid on post and other things I dont see any reason to pay for a vendor section when we have been said to be misleading customers with information and so on. We appreciate Mark giving us the chance to come here and maybe we will stay but as of right now it doesnt look that way.

  24. I needed some air suspensions parts for a personal project and found it much cheaper to open an account with a supplier than to buy retail. So I now have access to a large aray of air suspension parts. I don't know very much about this area of expertise so I can't really recommend any specific product but if anyone needs anything I have access to most everything from valves, to 4 links, to pre fabricated sheet metal tubs and fender wells.
