If this were you, what would you do- If you already had all of your sound deadening and HU installed, all u need to do is buy your front stage\midbass amps for all those, then your subs and amps and all wiring and new alternator. If the money you were gonna spend regardless came up to - ~$3,200, if you knew you had the room to double output power from 2,000w to 4,500w, would you spend an extra $1,300? Added weight is approx 500 lbs out of a total of 865 so new coil overs or shocks would also need to be bough as well ~$850 on top of $1,300. Opinions? I'd like to break 150 some point in my life but for a daily driver it's hard. I'm lookin at wanting to buy 4 AA Arsenal 10s …

  4. I wrote this paper a few years back for a class i had to take in college in order to apply for my masters degree, its been published on a few different websites over the years There are four basic types of power supplies used: Unregulated Linear Regulated Linear Ferroresonant Switch Mode The differences between the four types include constant voltage output, cost efficiency, size, weight, and ripple. I willl explain each type of supply, describe the principle of operation, and the advantages and disadvantages of each. 1. Unregulated Linear Power Supply Unregulated power supplies contain four basic components: a transformer, rectifier, filter capacitor, and a …

I've noticed for some time now that it's complicated to figure out the power for a three sub setup. If you have three 4 ohm DVC subs wired together in series (in think thats right) you get a 2.67 overall ohmage. Now if you have a KX600.1 for 600@2ohms, or perhaps a DX700 for 700@2ohms; how would you figure out how much power the amp would put out at 2.67 ohms? Looking into possibly 3-10" compvrs with that setup. Also, I was looking into a two sub setup with the Brahma 10. I'm thinking maybe a bpx1100.1 to power that setup. This one is more expensive, but alot louder and more SQ. After all that 29mm one way linear xmax sure isnt dissapointing! Both setups would be i…

I have a deh-p590 ib with 4v preouts which are actually 2.2-2.3v. My gain was originally around 1/3rd on my sub amp set with a dmm at 3/4 volume with a 50hz 0db test tone. I hit the power cable on my amp and fried it. I replaced the amp with the same one and had to turn the gain to 2/3rds (around .75v mark on the amp) to get the same output voltage. I figured i screwed up my head unit, but didnt really think twice about it. Last fall i bought a pdx 4.100 and four new speakers... with the gain all the way up i could not get the correct output voltage using a test tone and dmm. I turned the sla to +4 and the gain settled around 3/4 up (just past .5v mark on amp). I just put…

ok i want to throw a after market amp in my truck. i found this on a forum for my car seems like a good idea and a time saver...im trying to amp the speakers in my front doors. edit:link wont show up but this is what i found so it is a quote and i have the bose stock amp . "well it depends on what kind of stock system you have.. if you have bose, the bose am is located in the rear quater panel pass side.. if your end goal is to use an after market amp, you can just cut the wires from the amp ( leave some room just incase you wanna use the factory amp again) and run wire from the amp to the wires you have just cut.. on my bose amp the side that leads to the speakers is th…

Ok......to start off, my vehicle is a 1993 toyota 1/2 ton pick up. Regular cab. So I have no space in the cab for the kind of sub that I want. The only way for me to get the bass that I want is to cut a hole from the bed of my truck in thru the cab. Just wondering if anyone has done this and if so what were the results? I have heard a lot of good things about the Fi BTL subs. Im thinking of going with a fully loaded 18" Fi BTL, and a saz1500d sundown amp. Would they go good together? Also what else would I need as far as an alt. and a battery go? Sorry for all the questions, its just that I have never ran a system that needs "real" power. At the present, all I…

I am in the process of buying a 2002 Camaro SS (monday it should be mine). I sold my old system except for my Planet Audio TT2250D and my Pioneer DEH-P860MP. I am getting a Planet Audio TT4200D, 2004 XXX 15", and a set of Rainbow Pro 3 Way components. For sound deadening, I have 3 gallons of Second Skin Spectrum. Jamie will be doing the Kicks for the Pro 4"s and tweeters, and the Vanadium 6.5" midbass will be mounted in the doors. He will also be doing the trunk install in all fiberglass. The trunk install won't be done for a little while so I will just make a temporary sealed box for the time being. I was wondering if I should get some Audiocontrol EQ gear to get i…

My buddy drives a '00 frontier with a jvc head unit with aux. His 6 3/4" door speakers are blown so they are disconnected and the only speakers he had were the stock tweeters in the door. He got in the truck and no sound was coming from the tweeters. Tried CD player, aux, radio and nothing. Were thinking the tweeters could have taken a dump or the head unit is poop, or maybe a loose connection somewhere? What could this be?

My insurance is covering my truck and a tiny bit extra, so with the next vehicle, since I know it'll kill me if I don't ask, which is more audio friendly? (since the price differences on them locally are pretty much negligible, they all fall around $2500-3k) Jeep Grand Cherokee (1995-2003) Explorer Sport (1995-2003) or even another Blazer/Jimmy/Bravada (1996-2004) I'm only really picky about having 4x4; everything else, kinda blurs together to me. *The trucks i'm comparing are the ones that were left on the list after accounting for mechanical issues being taken care of; so no, I got my priorities in order

  20. ok, so i have my subs and i have figured out the amp to power them. now i need to figure out if the box that i have will be sufficient or if i am better off with a different design. the following is as much useful information as i can think of, but if you need anymore just ask. also haven't been able to find detailed specs on the speakers, so i don't know fo, qes, xmax or anything like that, that's why i need your help. haven't found anyone that has that info either, so hopefully you all can still throw me some input. thanks. car: 99 altima subs: pair of 12" american bass vfl1266 amp: rockford t1500 current box: sealed 34x14x14 3/4mdf music: mostly juggalo beats and nu-me…

I am thinking about buying my new Pioneer Premier DEH-800PRS and iPod adapter from www.wooferetc.com Total would be $475 shipped. I was wondering if anyone has been screwed over by them? And if so, how and what happened? If I don't buy it from there for $399, I would buy it from a local store for $479...... I would rather buy from wooferetc.com, as long as it's a legit site. They claim to be BBB, and a AAA rated site.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Forgive me...I'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff. I have a 2001 Chevy S10 ZR2 (4X4) I ordered off Crutchfield and they sent me my new Sony Digital Media player and a wire adapter kit. The problem is it appears to be the wrong adapter. Crutchfield only has one option for my year and make and it's that one http://www.crutchfie...ss.html?tp=2977 My GM factory plug looks like this... Next part. I start to drive off without the original factory stereo plugged in and got about a mile down the road before it started dieing on me. I deduced that this truck must have some kind of security protection (I have no clue)…

I have heard many a system, and honestly...no system I have EVER heard sounds "bad" every system does sound different though. I have taken a TON of subs and probably gone through 12 boxes in my hatch. None of them sounded remotely bad. So, I have started to just ignore SQ, the only time I have heard a system that wasnt up to par, it was a box issue. I'll be making the ultimate test here soon. I will be doing a setup with a dB drive platinum 15, everyone I talk to says they have very low SQ. So, I'm going to throw 2000 daily to one in a good box, and SQ to a rest. -Alex

In my enclosure when the guy made it, they put a hole for the wires and just put the wires in a put a little tack to seal it up. How much of an effect would this have all together and should I take further precautions to fix this? When I was using the box it didn't sound bad personally, but thats completely subjective.
