General Audio

Chyea! so i wanna look into a nice audio set up for my car but im not 100% sure on what exactly to look for or how it all works really. So im looking to see if anyone can explain or direct me to a website or something that can explain how car audio works. preferably starting from the basics. Something for example would be this: T2-250.1: Continuous Power @ 14.4 V: 175W x 1 @ 4 ohms 250W x 1 @ 2 ohms what does it mean when it says 175w x 1 @ 4 ohms? (Are ohms not resistance and why is there more on something with less watts?) thanks for any help.

whats everyones opinions on knukoncepts amp kits? would you choose it over kickers pdk1's provided they where the same price?

Sub: Fi BL 18 with flatwind and p chamfer Amp: Hifonics bxi2006d (again, its not sundown or anything, but it should get the job done for now and even if it is overrated, i think 1800 should push a bl just fine. Wiring: Knuconcepts.. look Not included in the kit are RCAs and the speaker wire. Also should i get 10 or 12 gauage, and what do i need to fit it into the terminal on the sub? Enclosure: 6^3ft after all displacement and port, and tuned to 34.4xxx hz. I guess what i'm looking for is the OK from you guys. What do you think? this is what i have first off. then the question. HU is a Kenwood Excelon XXV-01D, comps would be a set of Illusion LM-6 mids and rainbow tweets. amps would include a orion 8002 for the mids, and a orion 2002 for the tweets. NOW, for the quetions. seeing how the HU has a pretty good x-over on it. could i use that for the prossesing and use the front pre-outs for the tweets and the rear for the mids. (HU also has sub outs too) if that wouldn't work, what kinda prossesor should i use, what what kinda settings should i have it on. thanks.

I have heard before that port noise can be increased if the port is too close to the sub. Is there any legitimacy to this?

ok heres the scenario say you have 3 subs that each take 1500 watts and you have 2 choices eiter buy 3 amps that put out 1500watts each or 2 amps 1 that does 1500 watts and the other does 3000 watts..would there be anything retarded about option 2 with the 2 amps?

I just got a Velleman HPS10 and I have no idea how to use it. All I want to do it set my gains on my 2 amps so they don't clip. Can anyone give me a step by step description? Thanks.

i just got a return email from power master and said they can only do a 300 alt for me if its a pure spl truck since its a daily driver they the biggest they can make is 200amp for $639 ea said they can make me a 300amp alt for $500 now i know thats a 100 more amps for $139 cheaper..but i also know its not all numbers in this hobby..is powermaster that much better that i can go with less amps and pay more or should i go with EA?

Currently I drive a 00 Sunfire with no sound deadening, crappy walmart Sony Xlpodes for components, stock HU, and chitty duals. I did build my own box for the duals and they sound a lot better than they did in the box they came in, but my system still sucks. I'm limited on cash being a college student and all, but I don't want to skimp on stuff just because. I'd rather save up for something nice if I have to. Also, I SQ is my main concern. I mostly listen to rap and would really like to enjoy my music, and with thoughts of getting an in-dash DVD unit, that's something to think about too. I also want to be really loud as well though... for those times you just feel like sh…

Ok just wondering if anyone knew a song that will play 30hz or close to it for 30+ seconds. My friend needs one for meca drive by and being that many people do bassrace or similar thought someone might know. The song needs to be a constant note and not fluctuate between notes. Thanks

Well i bought a hk4000d and have heard they are current hogs... im going to be running it at 2 ohms to a 18" BL... probably around 1600 watts (or whatever is safe to run to a BL). I have a stock 130A alternator, and a run of 1/0 to my amp... ill be doing the big 3 soon. What type of electrical upgrades do i need? A HO alternator is out of the question because apparantly toyota used some special design for my truck (06 tundra) and the cheapest ive found is a 175A for 600
