sorry for the lack of wisdom, but could somebody tell me what port noise sounds like? Because I just put my system in my car and unless i have the volume turned down to zero, my sub is constantly playing kinda loudly. Could this be how the amp settings are set?

Love my 15" wardens and 20.1s, installed by DJ car audio (Fayetteville Tn.) first show pulled 145db. Now we have a problem, nothing changed since show, cant pull over 140db. any suggestions? Please help

Hey guys... so I'm thinking of what kind of vinyl I need to order to cover my door pods, but I don't think I'm going to be about to cover them without cutting the vinyl at least once or twice. My problem is that the speaker baffles stick out at a wide angle, and even with the fleece I had to cut it 2 times to eliminate the huge wrinkle in the back. The part that I plan to cut will not be too visible, it will be the part on the back of the speaker pod facing towards the floor (even with the door open, unless someone gets down there and looks). I'm ordering comps for my front stage along with a amp, not sure what I should be looking at for quality though. If I put comps up front can I keep my 6.5 coax in the back and just run a 4 channel amp to the 6.5's and the fronts? Would that sound right? Trying to keep it under 250 for comps and amp

Now its been awhile so i forgot all the fancy terms but im sure you guys can answer this. So i have my amp set up for my max volum at 25. Now i listen to a lot of reggae and i dont at 25 it doesnt come close to clipping my amp. So is it ok to turn the volume up more?

im peeling off my old deadner ED v1 i know most of u frown upon this but it did provide some deadning but some pieces have kinda slid off not much but were they fell off jammed my lock to my door so hence the total removal... just wondering if u guys know any nice products to clean up my door n get rid of the residue oh and any input on new deadner would be great im looking in to bquiet and ramatt? not sure if i spelled it right thnx

im going to need one, i want something high quality that will remote start, pop my hatch and be able to signal a pager, or come with one. i want as much pager range as possible. i dont know much about alarms, i had a viper on my old camaro and it was decent but this was 4 years ago. how difficult is it to install, because the shops around here want insane amounts of money, like 600 for an installed alarm. i was thinking i'd spend 150-300 on the alarm and add ons, then spend a few days installing it. anyone know of any forums like this but for alarm information?

I have no idea how loud my system is but I'm wondering at how many db's do your ears start to feel discomfort? It only happens when I have it going full tilt but my eardrums start to tickle and they hurt a little bit on the lower frequencies (30-35hz) I almost never feel it but anytime I have a friend riding with me they complain about their ears nonstop but I almost never feel it? I'm guessing when I get the saz-3500 and whatever sub its going to be very hard to sit in my car?

Okay, I've found myself lately to be more keen on the particular sound of paper cone drivers. I am wondering if anyone else feels this way or differently. Is it perhaps just the better driver or application, or does cone material in woofers/midbass/midrange have a noticable affect on the sound? It's clearly evident in a lot of tweeters between metal/soft domes or otherwise, but how do people feel on the woofer side? I'd appreciate any knowledgeable on the subject who could give some insights on which materials may have better sonic characteristics.

I need some pointers on how to begin my build. I have a 86 full size short bed chevy truck and there is no way I can get the kind of sound Im looking for with such little space behind the seat. I want to put the subs in the bed with a blow thru into the cab. Im not looking to compete in SPL or anything like that just want the kind of bass Im use to hearing (just sold my magnum and miss it already). Im running an Alpine CDA 9886 head unit and Kicker 3.5, 6.5 in the cab will be adding components soon.
