What could be the cause of a staticy sound coming through speakers? It doesn't seem like any kind of engine noise cause it happens with the motor off. It sounds like static from the radio if a radio station is not coming in good but quiet...... And it still happens when my rca's are unhooked from my amp and/or head unit.

I use Stefan's port area calc to figure out the needed port area for a design. It's not working for some reason. I was wondering if the website moved or if there's anything else similar to it. Also if you see this Stefan, what's going on? lol I like your website. Here's the link...bitpusher.in/

someone has offered webspace, now we need some people to help retrieve/send, and input the info i think it would be cool if a group of us puts together a database of audio equipment with pix and specs and share it with everyone else. freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee i dunno if this has been tried before, but i think it might be a fun little project happy?

i've been hearing that stereo>mono>surround. why is that. i've been wanting to do something cool for the house but i don't know what to do. i used to have a dvd player w/ surround built in. $100 walmart special. well it just crapped out. so i was wondering what a good "stereo" setup would consist of that would be better than surround. i'm kinda cheap and i like to do stuff myself so it'll be DIY. i already know i need a nice sub and amp for the sub. but what would the front be? 4's, 2's, 6.5's??? i hope you get what i'm saying.....

Hey guys! So after all the research, nd the help of all my fellow mates here, ive finally decided on going with the 15' SSA Zcon D2 Now, the time has come to decide on an amp that will be able to efficently feed this beast!! I just wanted your opinions on which amp should i go with and btw, when i was browsing the ssa store, what really got my attention was the Stetsom V 2K5 E which does 2500 rms 12.6v @ 1 ohm! The price is very affordable nd i just wanted to know if anyone has tried this product out before?? Thanks alot yall!!

Now, I don't stalk Steve's videos but i was just looking at one of his videos that he posted up and he explains how his "Clipping Tool" works just like a oscope. I was wondering what you guys thought about this? Personally, i think it's a really cool tool and a great idea. But at the same time i feel like it's Steve Meade just trying to get his name out again and to make more money. Just another ploy really, but it is a valuable tool it seems like. What do you guys think? EDIT: added video

I've got an old school record player, Sony 100 disc changer, an old AKAI amp (from what, the '70's?), and a pair of JBL 3-ways. It sucks. So ... as some of you know, I do fine wood working in my spare time (coffee tables, china cabinets, cigar boxes, gun cabinets, pens, bowls, anything out of wood). I don't need another table in my home. What I do need, are some towers and subwoofer enclosure so I can eventually throw in some speakers and my uberwoofer. I'd love to make some enclosures out of a nice mahogany, eastern maple, oak, ash, anything really. I don't know chit all about HT. So I have to break it down real simple so I can understand it. I was thinking about tw…

When my subs are playing (not on full tilt) sometimes the volume just drops. The music volume stays the same, but the subwoofer volume drops. The amp should NOT be clipping. I set it up for a volume of 30 with the sub level at +6. My usual listening range is a 20-26 with the sub level at -6-0. The setup is two alpine type r 12"s in a 6th order bandpass powered by an old school Lightening Audio 1000D at one ohm. I have a 200 amp h.o alt with NO big three. I can tell you the headunit if you need it.

I've been looking for new components for my 4Runner almost as long as I've been posting at SSA. The JBL P650C comps have served me dutifully (if not spectacularly) over the last couple years. I've never been able to find a quality set at a reasonable price that would fit in my doors without modification. I believe that the Hybrid Audio Clarus C51-2's will fit in there fine. I can't seem to track down the depth measurements in any of the Hybrid manuals, so I'm not comfortable that the C61-2's will fit. Can anyone recommend another high-quality 5-6" woofer with a shallow depth? As a point of reference, I also have a set of Seas CA18RLYs that won't fit. The basket won'…

  16. So far i am looking at the kenwood KDC-mp242 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17549_...KDC-MP242.html# It has tuning and the rear control. My vehicle has a 6 3/8" mounting depth for the h/u, so anything over than is a no go. My paximum price range is around $100 - $120. Feel free to post your own experiences with different brands and components.

ok i want to throw a after market amp in my truck. i found this on a forum for my car seems like a good idea and a time saver...im trying to amp the speakers in my front doors. edit:link wont show up but this is what i found so it is a quote and i have the bose stock amp . "well it depends on what kind of stock system you have.. if you have bose, the bose am is located in the rear quater panel pass side.. if your end goal is to use an after market amp, you can just cut the wires from the amp ( leave some room just incase you wanna use the factory amp again) and run wire from the amp to the wires you have just cut.. on my bose amp the side that leads to the speakers is th…

Hey everyone, just bought a 96 honda civic ex coupe.. looking to upgrade my door speakers. this model vehicle has a component speaker system with a 6.5" midbass driver and 2" tweeters.. I'm wondering if these are hooked up to a crossover because I can't find one in the car.. And is it worth it to keep the crossovers (if there are any) and just upgrade the tweeters and midbass? and one more question is temporarily i have some pioneer 6.5 coaxials hooked up to where the midbass drivers would be, so far they sound good running off the headunit but should i not do that because im supposed to use a midbass driver?

Suggestions? I don't want to over shoot by 40 feet considering i'll never end up using it and at 3 bucks a foot it'll big a pretty nice amou…

  24. Started by Smitty,

Something funny has been going on with my sound system the past two weeks. I've been noticing that the bass from my subs and door speakers sound distorted . This is not all the time though, my system will sometimes sound perfectly clean and then go back to playing with the distorted signal again. My electrical is currently stock with 2 gauge wire, a capacitor and my sub amp is a sundown sa 125.2 which does get very hot. I have previosly blew all the fuses in my amp but they were replaced at a local shop. My voltage is usually bouncing around between 10 and 12 according to the meter on my cap. What do you think my problem is and how can I fix it?

  25. Hi I was in my friends ride yesterday and heard a problem ive never read about When he turns his radio on, there is a static noise very similar to one you might hear from white static on a tv This noise starts before the music does and continues throughout music play Besides the annoying sound in the background, the music sounds fine Dude told me he just got a new radio cause he was hooking an amp up in the back and his headunit started smoking I could not figure that 1 out either, maybe he hooked the remote from the old radio 2 the batt and ground at the same time? If you have seen my subs in the backseat thread, then u know my standards are not very high http://…
