Yes, I know it's been discussed here and there on other forums. But not here, and never indepth (at least not yet). Because I'm very noobish to the home audio realm, I'm going to ask away I have two home projects / goals. A.) 2 or 3 way monitors for my office. I have a classic Audiologic reciever. I don't really plan on picking up an amplifier down here. This is mostly used for music & has an input from the PC sound card. Mainly background music, workout music, and occasional party music. So fidelity & output are not priorities (doesn't need to win an award, just has to sound good), neither is output. Cheapness & accuracy count. Thinking 6.5 midwoofers LP ~25…

Well, last summer, me and my friends saw somebody w/ an ice chest speaker box. They had a Pioneer HU, some Kicker 8's, some Pioneer 6x9s, and a small amp and a battery. It sounded really good. We had the idea to do something bigger and better however. On our quest for the perfect ice chest to use (hey its gotta be big enough to hold beer), we came across a rubbermaid bench. We thought it would be perfect for the project and so we bought it. I took my old pioneer hu (deh-p330) and my friend donated some 5.25s, and I bought some pioneer 6x9s off of a friend. For bass, I picked up a pair of RE 8's while they were on sale. I bought a JBL 80.4 to power it all. After a few w…

I like to keep tweakin test tones and have a question about something- When analyzing the test tones i generate, using a pure sine wave, i get a 30db amplitude reading. Now, if i generate a square wave, i get 32db amplitude. So... in theory, the generated square wave will produce higher levels of spl at a lower power level... But.. does a generated square wave have the same effect as a forced square wave? meaning... will the sub(s) heat up quicker even with a non-clipped signal compared to a generated sine wave? I'm assuming a generated square wave will clip sooner than a sine wave due to the increase in amplitude... I'm speculating on whether it would be worth my time …

Hello, I recently received a 12" btl. I put it in a well built box (I have pics in the build log section), on a Sundown saz 1500 amplifier. I had a weird noise coming from the speaker at my max volume. Even if I did not change any settings from my previous setup (I had an xcon 15" on it with NO problem), it seems that my gain was too high. I turn it down and everything is good now ! But I want to find good sounding test tones to set the gain right on the amp. Can somebody show me where to find some ? I think in the 50 to 60 hz range. I set the gain by ears, and I will try to see what I can do with a DMM for that. Thanks in advance.

I worked this past weekend. Drove to the track and parked my car on friday afternoon. I went to leave tonight and when I would turn up volume to my normal listening level the red light would come on and my sub would not work. When I parked my car on friday everything was working correctly. Any thoughts why this would happen? We did get some pretty hard rains but I have had no issues with this previously. I have been running this set up since january. I have not had the chance to check voltages yet but any direction to why the sudden change. My current battery is just the standard car battery I purchased from sears in december. Just confused.

I looked at both company's products and was a little baffled as to why AA would want all of their subs to have a 1.85 ohm(3.7 since all of their subs are dvc) whereas FI's products are 2 ohm/vc respectfully unless FI's are the same but just secretly rounded. I used the calculator on http://www.the12volt.com but couldn't get the AA's to come out to an even ohm no matter how many woofers are added to the mix.

Just a curious thought. Say I had a dual 4ohm speaker but my amp performs best at 1ohm. Can I add an inline resistor to the speaker to drop the ohm load to the amp? The sub is 1500 watts rms and the amp is 1500 watts rms at 1ohm. I thopught I would throw this up to see if it would be a simple solution for a 1 sub 1 amp setup

I am planning on buying HC1800 and 5 HC600s soon. I want to use Knukonceptz Konfused battery terminals on these batteries but it appears that Kinetik's battery posts are for ring terminals only. So... while i was surfing, i found this- http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8425_K...P+-KHC-TP-.html So, if i buy those, all i have to do is unscrew the ones off of the batts, put these on and that's it, right?
