Ok here is something I came to. People buy the most exspensive batteries and high output alternators, and still experience voltage drop at 11 volts and steady decline. What do most people do to solve voltage drop.

i was just wondering, how important are TS specs really? i mean if a certain number is better that others wouldn't everyone shoot for that exact number? also why don't sub companies add specs like LE? thats a pretty important spec yet you have to look forever to find it.

whats the best way to do this? run an isolator or not? I was told by a stereo repair man its best not to run an isolator, just make a run of pos. and ground it, that way both batteries are constantly charging and avail. for current draw from the amps. I'm not well versed in this area... help.

I have always wondered about some of the lingo used on these forums when it comes in competitions... Anyway what is a Bass Race vs a dB drag? Or a SQ event? How are they measured? I am sure I missed a few different race names but what are they? How are they all different? How are they measured?

System consists of 2 US Amps MD3D's, 2 AQ HD3's and a Kenwood KDC-X891. Alright I will be playing my system bumping it hard and all of a sudden my bass will cut out. I do not think it is the HU because the mids and highs continue to work. The bass will come back on when I turn the volume down or if I leave it playing for a few seconds. I do have electrical upgrades: 220A alt, 1100A batt under the hood, big 3 done, and 3 Deka Intimidator 9A31's in the back. Why is my bass cutting out. FYI the HU does have a ground problem meaning that when I play a CD I have turn on noise and a thump when changing tracks, none of these noises occur when I listen to the radio or my USB sour…

I have a ported box built for a Rockford T2 12. It has a 2.25 net volume and is tuned at 40Hz (Termpro)...Actual in car is said to be 37Hz. I just ordered a new Fi Q 12 dual 1ohm and was wondering if it will work in my current box or do I need to change the tuning of the box?? How do you know how much to add or remove from the length of the port to get the Hz I'm looking for? I have attached a pic of the box that I have. Any help on this would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

With my setup so far my top score is 147.9 @ 32hz. Was wondering if anyone could tell me any quick tips on being louder on the meter without changing power or box? 2004 Dodge Durango. 2 XCON 15s in 4 cubes net each with 160 sq in of port between the two. Amps are RF T1500cp on each sub. Hints, tips, tricks? Im very new to competing. They place the meter in middle of windshield down low near dash if it matters. Thanks in advance everyone! Edit-My second score (last weekend) was a 146.3 @ 35hz. I did have to notch out a little of my box on each corner to fit it properly and of course my stupid ass unloaded the subs after the first show. Would it be warmer weather lowering…

  11. temporary setup consists of a pioneer 880 that ive had for years and never had a problem with, never had to do the ghetto "grounding the RCA's" thing, etc. knu konceptz RCA's that ive never had trouble with either. well i took out my mtx 2ch amp the other day to cover the back of the wall in the MINI. it was working when i took it out. i put it back in last night becuase i was driving around with no music, and i turn on the radio and theres like a loud kind of static noise and a little clicking out of both speakers. i start the engine and theres a chit TON of engine noise. sounds like my speakers are turbo'd or something lol. i mean its LOUD. im like chit, the mtx amp fin…

  13. Trying to make a few decisions. First, I have a 2005 Ford 500 SEL Edition, I am trying to decide if I should have my subs facing the trunk, or facing the seating part of the car. Second, anyone out there with XCON's that has had them sealed and ported and could tell me which one they seemed to think is better. I've have them ported, but I am curious to hear what they sound like sealed. Third, If I decide to stay ported, I am going to redo the enclosure for them, but having a hard time deciding what tuning to use, any recommendation? My last enclosure, I can't tell you anything about, seeing as it was junk in my opinion, and the person who built it in my opinion was an idi…

There is a bunch on eBay for under $10. They seem very cheap looking and I am not sure where I would go about mounting them. What meters are recommended for update speed, accuracy and still maintain a sleek appearance?

I'm looking for someone to design a ported enclosure for my '02 Explorer. It's going to be for two 12" Fi Qs. If anyone is willing or knows someone, let me know and I'll get them the dimensions. I'm obviously willing to send some money to the designer as well. Let me know if you guys have anyone in mind. KB

  16. When i want to show off my stuff im always afraid of blowing my subs. I was wondering if there is a formula or something that you guys use to make sure you know where the subs limit is? If i dial in my gains to where the amp is not sending clipped signals when the head unit is all the way up, does this mean that i can turn the head unit up as much as i want and not have to worry? I have an Audioque HDC312 "1000 RMS" sub Audioque AQ1200D all wired at 1 ohm

I've got a competition tomorrow and had my batteries just arrive this evening. Setup is two hc2400 and two hc600.the question I'm posing is only one run of 0 ga. Enough for just this one time event or just forget about it and spend the day making a second run. I'm powering a sundown 2500. What's your thoughts? It will have the second run done I'm just not sure if only one run will hurt the batteries.

I was wondering why subwoofers use tinsel leads to carry the current to the voice coil. Wouldn't copper be better because the resistance to electricity flow is lower? What makes the tinsel leads better for that part of the sub.?

I plan on getting some new equipment in July (happy birthday to me ) but I'm having some trouble deciding what I want to do first. I plan on changing everything that's currently installed, except for probably my HU, so this is going to be a slow project (lack of funds, FTL). I honestly have no idea what I want to do. The only thing I know is that I want to keep the sub enclosure small (around 1 cube) and power on the lower side, but I still want it to get decently loud. Budget will be between $250 and $300. A few scenarios I've come up with are: 1) A Sundown SAX 125.2. I'd run my Shiva off it for now, and later on get a Sundown SA-8 and custom ported box. 2) An IA …

Someone wants to trade me a 1990 240SX for my truck. Was wondering if anyone has really messed around with the audio in one. Curious if its easy to get it to sound good or loud, and how easy or hard it is to take the interior apart for sound dampening. Also, how much room is there? I wouldnt need the rear bench seat, so it could be folded down or taken out all together. Its a fastback hatch, not the coupe. Is it easy or cheap to get a hold of high output alts for them? If I would get it, my SA-10s would be going in it. Possibly add a couple more, or sell them and get 15s. It would be my toy vehicle, so Id be looking for loud, not SQ.
