I have a ported box built for a Rockford T2 12. It has a 2.25 net volume and is tuned at 40Hz (Termpro)...Actual in car is said to be 37Hz. I just ordered a new Fi Q 12 dual 1ohm and was wondering if it will work in my current box or do I need to change the tuning of the box?? How do you know how much to add or remove from the length of the port to get the Hz I'm looking for? I have attached a pic of the box that I have. Any help on this would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

  3. I looked at both company's products and was a little baffled as to why AA would want all of their subs to have a 1.85 ohm(3.7 since all of their subs are dvc) whereas FI's products are 2 ohm/vc respectfully unless FI's are the same but just secretly rounded. I used the calculator on http://www.the12volt.com but couldn't get the AA's to come out to an even ohm no matter how many woofers are added to the mix.

I was wondering why subwoofers use tinsel leads to carry the current to the voice coil. Wouldn't copper be better because the resistance to electricity flow is lower? What makes the tinsel leads better for that part of the sub.?

Alright, so I'm trying to plan out my car system and ive ordered my subs/amps. The subs are 1x 18" FI BTL and 2x 12" FI BTL's. I have a 4 door dodge stratus and I was planning on removing the back seats where I would put the 18" in a 7'-8' cu ported box. The two 12"s would go in the trunk area in a single ported box (can do two seperate boxes if that would be better). The trunk/cab would be connected due to the removal of the back seat. My question is, would this be a very stupid thing to do? Im VERY new at these things and I apologize if it's a rediculous idea. Also, if it isn't a good idea, what would be? And last, what would be good places to have the ports/woof…

Okay, i basically have 2 questions here. The first question is about my factory stereo and connecting an amp in a 2008 Honda Accord. I'm not sure but i'm hoping someone on these forums know if i can connect the amp directly to the stereo itself, or will i need a product such as JL Audio CleanSweep adapter to connect the amp to and then run that to the back of the deck? I know it would be easier to get a whole new deck but that isnt an option right now. My second question is that this car does not come in with an ipod input! it does come with an auxiliary input but i would like to control the ipod straight from the dash and not hassle around with the ipod. Does anyone kno…

Ok, I pretty much know nothing when it comes to car audio. I had a little ford ranger which died on me, so instead of staying in that realm i went out a got me a bigger truck. i think i am gonna do a blowthrough in this truck. I am not sure what would be best though. I listen to everything, about 50 50 rap/rock. I am not sure what would work best, something like 4 12" Q's sealed or 2 15" BLs ported. Also, I have some good word working skill, but have no clue how to build and tune a box if I go ported...some help would be fantastic. rough dimensions i wanna use in the bed of the truck...19" height, 48-49" wide, and 30" of depth. thanks for helpin a noob out... ps--&g…

ok ,well i have a guy who does his own beat and is working on becoming a producer and all. Right now I think he works in radio. But i think i may ask him to make me a test CD and tracks and wondering what you guys would like in a test CD. I know i would have tracks of just tones from 10hz-200hz and sweeps from 100-20khz if possible. But what else. And do you guys think 10$ per CD is a good price?

  15. I am getting ready to do a full install on my trailblazer SS. Its currently just stock Bloes system with factor 6disc in dash. I am planning on running an Eclipse 726E for the HU and from there is where i'm not sure. I auditioned a car yesterday with Mclass Memphis MCC6. It had some great puch to it when every you would hear the drummer hit the bass pedal. It was not coming from the sub as much as it was coming from the woofers in the doors and the rear deck lid. He has his running off of a JBL MS-8. I am sold on the MS-8, that really blew me away. Well, I had wanted to run Focal 165 KR2's, but got to listen to a set of Kr2P's today that didnt do much for me, but the way …

So last weekend our teach put us in groups of 5 and give each group a topic. all the topics are related to electrical components and what not. My group was lucky enough to get FIELD EFFECT TRANSISTORS(FETS) and then we broke it up into sections for each person to do, for the part i have to do "research applications and why they are used" and then i started to think doesn't car audio amplifiers have fets in them? or rather called mosfet? so i was just wondering if anyone could start me out or lend a hand on where i should be looking for information and maybe recommend a creditable site? also i was thinking about dropping db-r an e-mail asking him but i don't know if that …

this is what i have first off. then the question. HU is a Kenwood Excelon XXV-01D, comps would be a set of Illusion LM-6 mids and rainbow tweets. amps would include a orion 8002 for the mids, and a orion 2002 for the tweets. NOW, for the quetions. seeing how the HU has a pretty good x-over on it. could i use that for the prossesing and use the front pre-outs for the tweets and the rear for the mids. (HU also has sub outs too) if that wouldn't work, what kinda prossesor should i use, what what kinda settings should i have it on. thanks.

Allright, I need a break from working on my kick panels so I thought I would get to thinking about my next project. And being completely different I thought this might be fun. I have until spring to help my frugal friend put a stereo in his boat (21' Chris Craft). He already has a HU and a older fosgate amp 50x4. I have a pair of JL 10w4-0 subs that I will let him use for a reasonable price. The boat is used exclusively on Lake Minnetonka, most of the time the boat is tied to a line of other boats in the 20-30' range. Having the stereo that can be heard well behind the boat and sideways accross other boats allows you to be the one to choose the music--a must if I am …

Well I am getting my first vehicle soon, and am building my first sound system in it. People who know me know when I do things, I go big and get the best available to me at the time. So I just bought a Team Cactus Sounds 7KW Amplifier. Now what should I hook it up to? Assume that I am doing the build in the bed of a pick up truck with either a 6.5 or 8 foot bed. What I am really wondering is should I go with many small(10-12") subs, a couple large(18") subs, or a single large(18"), a single medium(15"), and a couple small(10-12") subs? I realize with the last option, I would need quite a few amps, but lets assume that it isn't an issue. Right now I am thinking about wiri…

I'm obviously willing to send some money to the designer as well. Let me know if you guys have anyone in mind. KB

Is it safe to put a ground under the carpet, or do i have to cut a hole around the ground? Also, i watched an instructional video on grounding a long time ago, and i remember the guy putting 3 or 4 screws in the ring terminal to keep it down. Is that alright, or do i have to bolt? I'm putting the ground (1/0) where my jack used to be under the backseat of my dodge ram. I know its safe to drill there because there are bolts already there for a bracket to hold the jack.
