Im having trouble opening my passive crossovers so I can mount them...I've tried just to lift the top half off with no luck, there doesn't appear to be anything securing the 2 halves together as far as I can see(like a screw or bolt). I've checked the manual and it doesn't explain how to do it and I have even tried e-mailing JBL with no response. Maybe someone else has these components and could help me out. Heres a pic: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures_new.php?id=12260&picture_id=130473 Probably doesn't help much but I thought I'd post it anyway. How do other passive crossovers open up?

I've got enclosures fiberglassed into the rear quarter panels of my Tahoe, and can't give up any more of my cargo room. I work as a General Contractor, and frequently carry plywood and sheetrock in the back of the truck. My current Celestion AD15H's sound great with the crossover point set at 40HZ, reproduce the low frequencies with great detail, even with the measly 250 watts I'm sending them each through my Lightning Audio 500 watt mono amp (2 ohm load). The only problem, I've found that they have a tendency to "blatt" (for lack of a better term) if I up the crossover point to even 50HZ. Could this be a result of too little power, too small of an enclosure, too high (or…

First of all this is the equipment ill be talking about. Rockford Fosgate 800.2 old school (the amp that is blowing fuses) Pyle Driver Plad413 (4 channel) Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2 (DVC, 4ohm) ok I wired my subs up for the 2 channel amp like it says to do here, http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_4-ohm_2ch.jpg but that amp kept blowing fuses so in the meantime I am using the pyle 4 channel I bought to drive my regular speakers until the fosgate gets fixed. When i wired in the pyle I left the subs wired for a 2 channel amp but hooked them up to the amp like this http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learning…

Not too long ago, some of us went on a buying frenzy of some posted equipment by 'NEXT'. I was wondering if anyone who had bought amps or subs had any feedback on quality and sound? I bought a set of co-ax spkrs and a component set, and they sounded great. Just curious.. MattB

  11. My friend has an 04 infiniti fx 35 and wanted to know if it is possible for him to keep his stock radio which Is a bose system on a stock 300 watt amp and just change the sub, is this possible or will he have to change out the amp too? Is it that easy, can he just replace both the amp and sub and keep the same radio? he is just looking for more bass to add to his system. I believe it has 11 speakers and 2 subs.

I've been looking at posts lately of people putting 8's in there doors and have noticed that pretty much everyone seems to glass the door panel and mount the speaker to the door panel. Can the door panel be made strong enough to handle 200W of 8" midbass pounding away and not really leak around its edges?

so ive been to nearly every shop in orange county, and a few outside of it still in so cal and they are all a joke. they dont know anything, and push products that are absolute crap, like nitro. they have never heard of any brands such as SSA, FI, IA, TC, DC, AA, and only a few know RE. we on here know what is good and what is crap. and the worst part is that when you try to tell them about these brands they tell you that they are internet junk and have no warranties and downplay you all together. EVEN when you play your system for them thye still say its just ok but kicker CVR's or L7's are better. SO kicker CVR's and L7's are better than anything FI, SSA, DC, IA, etc? h…

Well I am getting my first vehicle soon, and am building my first sound system in it. People who know me know when I do things, I go big and get the best available to me at the time. So I just bought a Team Cactus Sounds 7KW Amplifier. Now what should I hook it up to? Assume that I am doing the build in the bed of a pick up truck with either a 6.5 or 8 foot bed. What I am really wondering is should I go with many small(10-12") subs, a couple large(18") subs, or a single large(18"), a single medium(15"), and a couple small(10-12") subs? I realize with the last option, I would need quite a few amps, but lets assume that it isn't an issue. Right now I am thinking about wiri…

Ok, I pretty much know nothing when it comes to car audio. I had a little ford ranger which died on me, so instead of staying in that realm i went out a got me a bigger truck. i think i am gonna do a blowthrough in this truck. I am not sure what would be best though. I listen to everything, about 50 50 rap/rock. I am not sure what would work best, something like 4 12" Q's sealed or 2 15" BLs ported. Also, I have some good word working skill, but have no clue how to build and tune a box if I go ported...some help would be fantastic. rough dimensions i wanna use in the bed of the truck...19" height, 48-49" wide, and 30" of depth. thanks for helpin a noob out... ps--&g…

These are what I am currently debating to put in a Dodge Charger SRT. It will be made into a show car, so the way it sounds is very important. but it is not meant mearly for competitions. All of them will be set up nicely with plexiglass and such, much like what can be seen magazines like Performance Sound and Auto.

Iv seen multiple bad things said about them.. and a few good things. But have said that, i found a used 200a Iraggi alt on here for sale at a very good price and I was just wondering if anyone has some information I could use or something. I was thinking that aslong as I get it bench tested and its doing fine, I personally see no reason why I shouldnt get it, this is mostly based on the fact I wasnt even thinking about getting one this soon because of the usual price tag. -Mike

My insurance is covering my truck and a tiny bit extra, so with the next vehicle, since I know it'll kill me if I don't ask, which is more audio friendly? (since the price differences on them locally are pretty much negligible, they all fall around $2500-3k) Jeep Grand Cherokee (1995-2003) Explorer Sport (1995-2003) or even another Blazer/Jimmy/Bravada (1996-2004) I'm only really picky about having 4x4; everything else, kinda blurs together to me. *The trucks i'm comparing are the ones that were left on the list after accounting for mechanical issues being taken care of; so no, I got my priorities in order

When my subs are playing (not on full tilt) sometimes the volume just drops. The music volume stays the same, but the subwoofer volume drops. The amp should NOT be clipping. I set it up for a volume of 30 with the sub level at +6. My usual listening range is a 20-26 with the sub level at -6-0. The setup is two alpine type r 12"s in a 6th order bandpass powered by an old school Lightening Audio 1000D at one ohm. I have a 200 amp h.o alt with NO big three. I can tell you the headunit if you need it.
