I have 2 18s in seperate enclosures. I was told by some others that my ports where to small on my boxes. I had them tuned to about 31hz..so I made them bigger. Should be around 36-37 according to Torres..at the same time I bought a used DD z1 amp and hooked it all back up. Its sounds like shit..wont hit lows for shit. Do you think I tuned to high, or did I get a bad amp? Wtf

Where is the best place to buy Knukonceptz 1/0 gauge wire for the cheapest price? And I also need suggestions on the best place to run my wire in my 2011 mazda 3. Right now I have Knukonceptz 1/0 gauge and the only place I could wire it was under my center console then I came out the side (driver side) and under my seat, and I don't know how to get it into the trunk of my car with it being un noticed, how can I hide it going through the back seat area into the trunk?

I was searching the topics around here looking for glassing the interior of a sub box, and didn't find too much. My question is. My sub calls for 1 inch MDF but my installer says he will use 3/4 and glass the inside to "keep the weight down". Do I have anything to worry about as far as flexing and structual integrity? I want to do a sealed enclosure about 1.6cu.ft. Are there any other suggestins for a sealed box? I want to do it right the first time as my funds are a lil limited. Hey thanx guys!!

Was wondering if anyone has delt with "THE ROBOT UNDERGROUND" aka Juicyrobot on ebay? This is my question// I have a Orion XTRPRO 2400d that 1 of the output conductors was smoked. I spoke to Chris from db-r and he told me that i had to find another board from that model to get the part i needed. So i remember that when DEI bought Orion/ppi/ads in 2003 they had a auction and "the robotunderground" bought allot of the stock parts/b-stock items. I contacted them and was told to send it in for repair and they would rewind the conductor. I sent it to them on the 13th of may and they emailed me and said they received it and the tech is looking at it. Now i have emailed …

  8. I used expanding foam in a can to seal off my trunk. I used it around my subwoofer enclosure and in a metal cavity between the rear seats and trunk. I let it dry for over 16 hours. This morning on my way to work I was listening to my audio system for the first time since sealing off my trunk with expanding foam. The difference in sound volume and quality is extremely noticable. After I arrived at work I went to put my rear seats back up and I noticed un-dried expanding foam had seeped out of a metal cavity and dripped on my XCON's cone. I really expected all of the foam to be dy after +16 hours. How should I clean/remove the expanding foam from the XCON cone? I read th…

I can't stand these prices people are asking to make a box. I think worst-case, can I pay someone to cut some MDF and I assemble the box myself? $200 for a 2.5 cube 12" box with no extra features seems pricey. The only thing I don't have is a panel saw, but otherwise I have pretty much everything else. Would it be hard to make a panel saw myself? Would lowes/home depot cut mdf for me for a reasonable fee? I have also read that they will give you a new sheet if the cuts aren't perfect. (I won't mind 1/8" off, but if they aren't straight then that is a problem) BTW I have 33x38x19 to work with and I want to tune to 28hz. Possibly aero port to save some room if nec…

  12. Let your vote be heard. Im planning a West Coast meet late June or early July. Location will be in the Los Angeles County area. (Location will be the Saugus Speedway if I can secure it, although that would mean charging an attendance fee. Most likely it would be held at my home, which is located in Santa Clarita, CA, 5 mins away from Six Flags Magic Mountain)

The situation: Getting my 12" BTL this weekend.. The amplifier I have currently is going to have my sub screaming for .. I'm wanting to feed it at least 2k rms. The question: Assuming I have the electrical to run 3000 watts at a stable voltage, would it be and audible difference from 2000 watts just on a daily setup? This is not for numbers at all. Simply for listening experience. I've heard answers coming from both ends.. I don't want to spend an extra 100-200$ on another 1kw if it's not going to be any louder to MY ear than 2000 watts. For those who must know the amp I have now, it's a Lanzar MAXP1200d. There are NO available RMS ratings for this amp online that I…

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've posted here. I've been driving and enjoying the stereo in my truck for awhile, and now I wanted to make a couple of changes and I was looking for some advice and/or guidance in doing so. The current situation... I have a Ram pickup which currently consists of the following: Stock Uconnect head unit -> JL cleansweep -> front channels Audio Control DQT -> Alpine PDX-F6 CH1&2 150x4 -> ID XS-65 Components (using the XS x-over and tweeter. The 6.5 has been replaced with an Eminence Alpha after blowing the XS6" mid) . Rear channels go from clean sweep to PDX-F6 ch 3&4 -> ID CTX69 6x9's. …

We'll with only one week until the parade my sister has asked me to figure out a way for them to play music for their float In the parade. My main problem is the truck towing the float isn't mine, so I can't take apart, change or modify anything on the vehicle. Second problem is this needs to be done for as close to free as possible. First thought is a power inverter to power one of their boom boxes and just bungy cord it all to the bed of the truck. Issue here is the power inverters with enough current aren't cheap, hard to source locally and I'm not a big fan of having to directly wire it to the truck's battery. I do have two old Kinetik HC1800s in my garage.....the…

Heys guys I will be building my sub box for 2-15inch NS subs come this summer and I had a quick question. first of all here is my box. see how the subs are firing DOWN and the full weight of the subs is on that one board, well i am going to need to support that board somehow. The 2 subs weight about 60~lb's each so 120lbs total will need to be supported. a friend told me to just use a piece of wood (dowel) and screw it from both ends and then glue it and not worry about it. but then i started to think over time due to vibration and temperature change would the screws start to lose their grip and potential come out or something of that nature? so i thought about threa…

I have a dodge charger im trying to put some sundown subs in and I need help picking a line. My goal is to be very loud on music and 30-35 tune. I currently I have a DC alt 270xp, 4 xs 3400's batteries, and im either going to order a DC 5k or preferrably saz 4500 (if i can find one). also due to trunk space....I can't have 15's ported. so it's either 2 12's ported or 3 12's ported. What line of sub and how many is my best option?

  20. so in two years, i am getting a car. it will be my 16th birth day present. now my plan is: (4) MJ-18's in a clamshell (4) 6.5" tang bands in the doors (1) U.S. Amps XT-2000d @ 1ohm (subs) (2) Legacy LA160's (mids and highs) and 6 pioneer tweeters. all this crap is going in the back of a 99' beetle. ported and tuned to 30Hz, will this monster blow my car up? i mean it would be fun, but i would have no mode of transportation. so please, tell me now if doing this will be a waste of money and/or put me out of a car. i mean, how bad could it be? i just like my music loud!

Hello all, Set up: IVA-W205 with Blackbird 2 docked: Problem 1: Alpine unit sees Ipod and plays and displays info but absolutely no audio, can't hear a thing. Sirius, CD changer, DVD all work correctly. Problem 2: With Blackbird docked and using bluetooth, caller can hear me but I can't hear them. INT settings all correct per Alpine. I sent the unit into Alpine and was told there was nothing wrong and everything checked out. Am I missing something??? Thanks in advance!

So. i have been wondering, what is better for bass. An '02 lincoln towncar, or the 89 crown vic. both have trunks the size of a small house, and both guzzle gas. But what would be the better choice? For the sake of argument, both are show off cars, music-wise, and for looks, both would sit on 22" blades (or maybe spokes for the Linc). The intention is a low-end beast. crushing lows. For whichever you choose, list the setup you would think is best for the space available. I am considering one or the other as a 2nd, 3rd, or maybe 4th car after I run in the bug. I would like the lincoln, but my concern is that, I lack the experience in cars to treat it the right way, i'm v…

  23. I regret going with a Cadence Z800 over the A7HC, because the A7 was a sick amp and it would have been more useful down the road. I also regret selling the only MAW-10 we had here, would have been perfect to squeeze in our little movie room. I sold a few original SoundStream amps, the most recent being the 164, clean strong little amp.
