Ok I have a rather unique problem that I a guy of 5 years plus in the car audio has come up against. Ok here is the skinny, I have a: JVC Kd_LX 10 head unit MTX AMP JVC 12 Disk Changer 8" MTX Subs Now the problem is that when I listen to the radio all speakers in the car work just fine and that includes the subs. Here comes the gremlin I pop on the CD changer and Only the Driver side of the car speakers work But the Subs work just fine just cannot get the Passenger side of the car to play any sound when the DC player is on. Get that ? I have checked the RCA's The Inputs the outputs all the rest that one would look at but all looks like its working correctly. Now what I am…

I am in the process of gathering pieces to form a more SQ based setup, and would like to eliminate having to flip through cd's all the time. With high capacity portable hard drives out there running off just usb power (wd my passport, for example) and lossless .WAV files it would seem like an ideal solution is available. However, I cannot seem to find a head unit geared towards SQ that has unlimited usb recognition. My google searches come up with useless info. I wonder if anyone here knows of or has experience with such a beast. I was leaning towards the deh-p800prs (man is it sexy) until I read elsewhere that it only has like 4gb recognition(with a separate adapter…

  5. For those that have not seen my build log which is kind of old it is located here. http://www.soundsolu...og/page__st__30 I am still using 4 old school Rockford Fosgate RFR2215 subs. Since then I decided to do a 4th order wall in my Mountaineer. Just got it in this past weekend and in time for Slamology. Here are a few pictures Design It was designed so I can pull it back out and go back to my ported box if I need to I took this 2x2 support out and used pipe and flanges instead. A lot more strength It was a tight fit but my friend and I managed to lift this box and get it in there. Loading wall and port in Used a pool noodle to seal around the edge of the wall…

Currently I drive a 00 Sunfire with no sound deadening, crappy walmart Sony Xlpodes for components, stock HU, and chitty duals. I did build my own box for the duals and they sound a lot better than they did in the box they came in, but my system still sucks. I'm limited on cash being a college student and all, but I don't want to skimp on stuff just because. I'd rather save up for something nice if I have to. Also, I SQ is my main concern. I mostly listen to rap and would really like to enjoy my music, and with thoughts of getting an in-dash DVD unit, that's something to think about too. I also want to be really loud as well though... for those times you just feel like sh…

About a year ago I bought my first subs which were just cheap Duals from Best Buy. I am still using them today, but in a box I built for them. The box was actually made for two 10" FI Q's and I just put the 2 12" Duals in them temporarily, but I never got around to upgrading so the Duals stayed. Now I'm looking at more options, but deciding to go a slightly different route. I figure a decent sub with the right install would sound a ton better than what I have now, so that's what I'm looking for. I don't have an exact budget in mind, but I'm basically looking for the best bang for my buck. I don't want to spend too much by buying a really power hungry sub, along with a lar…

Hey guys I am looking to get a 15" in the 1500-2000 RMS range, depending on what would work best with my final decision. I listen to mostly Rock, Alternative and Rap/Hip-Hop. I like getting loud more then really caring about quality. So I believe a driver geared more towards SPL might be a good decision?? This set-up will be going in my Extended Cab Ram, so I have quite a bit of room to work with. Sub: Sounds like XCON might not be a bad choice. Even though its more SQ then SPL? Need suggestions. Would like to get Dual 2. Amp: Sundown SAZ- 2000/1500D would be my #1 choice. Depending on driver choice. Looking to run it at 1 ohm. Box: A local shop does good work on boxes s…

I have a 98 dodge neon that I was looking to upgrade the sound system on. It is all stock parts except the receiver which was upgraded to a Sony X-plod CDX - GT11W 50W x 4 by the previous owner. I am not all to certain on the size of the speaker, but I think that the doors are 6 1/2 shallow, the rear speakers are 6" x 9", and the middle speaker is a 3 1/2. I don't really know a whole lot about the sound systems of a car, but from what I have read adding an amplifier, upgrading the existing speakers, and utilizing bass blockers would be the main focus. Essentially I am looking for the best possible upgrade in terms of bang for buck. So my question is what parts should I in…

Just as topic said. I plan to upgrade my alternator. Currently my alternator is rated at 60 amps (I know...) and plan to upgrade maybe twice the size (minimum of 100 amps) for daily. I dont need high power alternator as I am not competing... well maybe 1 or 2 comps doesnt hurt. My question is, is there a risk of upgrading to a bigger alternator??? Do i just swap it, make a bracket for the new alternator? Or do I really need to install 2nd battery for that. Reason being is that I was told by the shop that if you upgrade to a big alternator.. it will fried all your electrical components in your car as its capable to put out more current than the stock alternator. I unde…

My car is a 2006 Corolla Type S. Right now my lights dim when I turn the bass up loud and my Icon 15 makes a funny smell (kinda like paint or burning rubber). I'm pretty sure it's due to my electrical setup and my weak ass Batcap 800 which I regret getting. My system now: Stock 70 amp alternator (without big 3), Coaxle 5 1/4s in the doors and 6x9s in the rear deck (Both powered off my Alpine deck), Batcap 800, JBL GTO 1200.1 II amp (puts out 1100 watts at 2 ohms), SSA Icon 15 in 3.5 cubes tuned to 30 hz. My new setup Idea: Stock 70 amp alternator (with big 3), ditch the Batcap 800 and get a Stinger solenoid and a Stinger SP1500D or SP1700, ditch the Coaxles in the door…

Instead of ordering a 8 gauge speaker terminal, waiting for it to get here then cutting a hole in my box and screwing that in.. Could I just get 2 bolts and 2 washers and screw those into my box and use those as a positive and negative post? Any tips or experiences with this? edit: im still a noob when it comes to little stuff like this, the only reason I ask is I have seen something similar done on this site.

  21. i see the stuff being used in doors, but would it be beneficial any to use this egg carton acoustic foam in a car subwoofer enclosure? http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...amp;rak=260-515 and if it is beneficial, i should just apply to the entire side the motor is facing right?

  24. When using the online port length calculator, http://www.carstereo.com/help2/Articles.cfm?id=31 , when it says to input the internal cf of my box do i use the gross - bracing - driver displacement or do I use gross - bracing - driver displacement - estimated port displacement? IE i have 5.2 cf gross internel volume. I will have about 4.6-4.7 after bracing and woofer displacement. Should I use 4.6 as my internal cf or should I use 4.0 cf as I am estimating the port will take up .6-.7 cf? btw the port size is 19x3. Thanks very much

I would be interesed in which you think would have the most potential.. Thankx Probably SQ class... Maybe some SPL Comp... I dunno yet. Thx Josh P.S. could someone give me the pro's and cons of each in their on opinions "IF" you have done this before.
