I read some of the former posts and it said that it's bad to use the bass boost on the amp. So is it best to leave the bass boost off on the amp but ok to turn up the bass on the beck instead? I set my amp myself today, I'm pretty good with doing it by ear. These audio shops around here are either shady or stupid. One of the turned the bass boost up on my amp alot and turned the gain down lol. It didn't sound right to me, so I went to another place and he said it was bad to use the bass boost on the amp and re-adjusted it for me. I thought he was trustworthy until I was banging my system and my Icon 15 smelt funny, so I turned it off and felt the sub and it was pret…

So i have tried searching and couldn't find anything specific about what kind of bolts to use for bolt terminals and how to install them. I usually run the wire right threw my box but i want to try some terminals this time. I tried looking for copper because copper is a good conductor but i could not find any. So what is the next best kind of bolts to use? How do you screw them on? I was thinking about putting some t nuts in the box on the inside and screwing my ring terminals into those then attaching the wire on the outside with bolts. any input would be greatful.

Well, so now comes time to hurry up and get some bump in the Cutty before I leave. I've had my mind on some L7s for quite some time and with the recent Ebay explosion on great prices they are pretty hard to pass up. I'm thinking a trio of 12 will do nicely and I'll come in at just under $400 after shipping. Midbass is handled. I have a nice pair of RMB8s just awaiting a good home. Now on to HU, amplification and midrange, tweeters. Here I'm at a loss. Would like to get a nice cheap MP3 compatible HU; amps, who knows. Subs will be handled by a class D for current concerns, but is 1.5K feasible for $250-$300? And what about midrange/tweeter combos? I'm at a loss…

Rite now I'm in the middle of the install of my Clarus 61-2 component set. I have a pre-existing hole from the other tweeter, which is where the C1 will be flush mounted. Since the C1 doesn't have the "screw on" flush mount option like the type-r had I have to some how secure the tweeter. Scott recommended me hot gluing but it was difficult because it dried too fast and it basically cracked and peeled apart, (plastic on plastic) (maybe i used the wrong hot glue?) I also tried using Epoxy Putty but it didn't work well either. Any recommendations and ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, -Mike

The stereo i currently own is an Audiophase model CD188. I opened it up today to get back a screw for my glasses that fell in through the cd tray, and while i was looking around i found three knobs on the main circuit board; little small metal cube with a circle cutout on top, with a colored knob inset inside. Being as curious as i am, i was about to start messing with them but thought i'd ask what they could do, before i blow something up. Note: i googled the model number and brand and only got two results. One is blue, one is orange, and one is yellow. i cant the friggin usb cord for the camera so no pics for now.

Sup all. Random question that i should know the answer to but whatever lol. Is having a high amount of watts with your sub and amp always a good thing or if your going for something purely strong and heavy? or if you want quality will you find it with something that has less watts? and if neither then im officially confused lol.

Anybody ever deal with taking the dash out on one of these? I'm trying to install my single din radio (not sure if single din's possible) and i'm afraid to just rip off the dash like I used to do with my 2001.

I got these a few days ago to replace a set of Infinity Reference components and they sound pretty dang good. Big Big Big improvement. The only problem I have is the output is way down compared to the 2 ohm rated Infinity, which ain't a bad thing because they were very harsh to my ears, but the Bostons are having a hard time keeping up with my sub bass with only 60 watts on them. I am sure they would love some more power and probably wake up and really shine. Details........ The Bostons are rated @ 3ohm and 125w rms and I have a Rockford Forgate 450.4 amp that puts out 60w RMS x 4 @ 2 ohm, 100w x 4 @ 2ohm, and 225w x 2 bridged @ 4ohm. I had thought about just bridging the…

So I got meh 4 gauge amp kit today. :bigclap: My dad is fixed on helping me with the install and he said it would be easier to put the amp under the seat instead of in the trunk, and he is worried it might overheat in the trunk on a hot summer day. It fits nice and snug under the seat, and all I would have to run to the trunk would be speaker wire. Is there a reason I shouldn't put it under the seat instead of the trunk?

I can't believe i am making this thread but there is something not right and evidently i have forgotten. I had this problem before but it was like 4yrs ago and i cant remember what i did. Ok here it goes- I have a sundown 100.4 I am playing a 600hz tone. I hooked up a speaker to chan 4 only to make sure it would output power, it does fine, i even played some music on it so i know the amp works fine. Now, i connect the probe from the oscope to the positive terminal of chan 4 and the ground clamp of the oscope to the negative of chan 4. When i connect just the positive, i get this crazy wave form. When i connect the ground clamp, ... nothing changes. If i connect the groun…
