Well I was searching everywhere for an amp the would give me over 800x1 RMS for my HT woofer project. I really wanted an amp with a passive cooling solution, but the ones available with the kind of power I wanted were out of my budget. My solution is in the form of a Carver PM-900 amp. It is a live sound amp by design, but I hope to tweak it into a quiet HT amp for my passive sub. I went with Carver because the amp in my car that powers my components is a Carver made in '87 and it sounds very very nice. If something that old can work so well..... then you have a customer for life..... even though Carver is closing down Here are some pics...... Teh GiZuts. EWWW a fan!! …

I've been trying to explain to this guy on EvolutionM.Net that there is no such thing as a break in period for amplifiers. He says the transistor crystal's chemical composition changes slightly since they are made and don't see power until the consumer buys it(I assumed that from a comment or 2 he made). I realized I don't have much factual proof in my handds for my arguement. Are there any tests/ studied someone could point me to to further my side? Here's the thread(they have a 5=day wait for registration so don't bother trying to quickly jump in) http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=142921

Before I get into too much detail I need to go over some information about the gear I'm working with. I currently have a 2.7cu ft box with a 15" sub in it that takes up most of my trunk. I have just enough space to fit my Cadence TXA-1000D amp in front of it. I also have a Pioneer GM-6300F 4ch amp. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Pro...Series/GM-6300F So my sub and mono amp are going in the trunk, and I'm trying to determine placement of my amp and consequent amp install gear, both of which are variables that depend upon each other for optimal results. So I purchased this http://www.tsunamionline.com/product.php?id=532 a couple of months ago. (view page source to g…

I just recently bought 2 Sundown Audio sa-15 dual 4 ohm coils. I absolutely love them. I put them in a 7^3 foot box tuned at 35 hz and they get stupid loud. I was wondering what type of amp to get for them? I'm currently running an mtx 81001d @ 1 ohm but i feel like they want more power. I was looking at getting an SAZ-1500D V.2 but i'm always open to better amps. Any input would be great. Help??

Okay guys I need a little help on this. I need help on how to tune an amp the right way...I am installing a RF P400-4 that will be going to 4 6x9's and want it tunned correctly, and I have never really been showed how to tune an amp ever. Ive learned everything I know now by myself and would like it if someone could explain what exactly I need to do. I will also be installing a RF T-1500dcp on 2 12s also (yes this is the system I just sold but I wasnt the one who tuned it in my car). Any help, as always, is appreciated...thanks!

OK, so my amps intermittently shut off then turn back on. sometimes just one of them, sometimes both. if just one, it's almost always my sub amp. does it at high volume, low volume doesn't matter. if I turn the deck off, I sometimes will randomly get a turn on thump through my sub for no apparent reason. sometimes they go into protect, other times they just turn off. thoughts? solutions? apparently I are not so smrt...

So today I wire my 0 gauge power to my distro block to wire my amp my amp shows power, the remote does not show anything and for a kick i have no power to my sub. I've tried several subs now and nothing happens. I've tried every possible wiring scheme and still absolutely nothing. i am so pissed at AQ unless there is some secret setting in my pioneer I forgot to change that will unleash the power I think I got a bad amp. Is there anything that I may be forgetting or any tips anyone could give to keep me from blowing up on AQ? ;( it's an aq1200d that i'm dealing with and its wired to a RE SX12

Hi Guys, I think some people from SMD might have posted here about this already. Im the one behind the app and proud to get something out there finally Android app for box tuning is finally here...FREE... This is Beta still and can still be buggy. I am constantly working on updates and fixes and new features though. The app is for android 2.1 - 15+ , so hard to test when developing. Currently the app allows to calculate box specs and there is a total resistance calculator. The app can be found by searching "box tune calculator" and can also be viewed here My app If you have any requests of what features you want, please let me know and i can add them. if there are any cr…

http://www.bitpusher.in/ sealed enclosure page input dimensions, driver displacement, double baffle option, end up with net volume. Pretty basic. port area page input driver's partial t/s specs, and calculate port area based on vent mach. ported enclosure page input dimensions, driver displacement, double baffle option, port area / number or aeroports, end up with net volume and proper port length (accounts for port displacement). I started this in the morning, and just finished. From all the testing I've done I haven't run into any issues, but feel free to try it yourself, and post back. Hope this alleviates some headache in designing your boxes.

Had m bud Regal1975 stop over yesterday and try out the Linear X. He has 2 Kicker 10" L7's with 1100 RMS on each one. He has them in a small Nissan truck with the rear glass removed and the subs right there. 2 subs on the pass side and the port on the right. Ended up doing a 144.7 on the dash. All he could say was Evil X

First of all this is the equipment ill be talking about. Rockford Fosgate 800.2 old school (the amp that is blowing fuses) Pyle Driver Plad413 (4 channel) Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2 (DVC, 4ohm) ok I wired my subs up for the 2 channel amp like it says to do here, http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_4-ohm_2ch.jpg but that amp kept blowing fuses so in the meantime I am using the pyle 4 channel I bought to drive my regular speakers until the fosgate gets fixed. When i wired in the pyle I left the subs wired for a 2 channel amp but hooked them up to the amp like this http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learning…

  22. So I'm in the process of saving up cash for my new system. I'm almost 17 and working at mcdonalds bringing in about 150-200 a week. But anyways here we go, I only have room for 1 15 or 2 12's yes I considered taking out my backseats and making a 2 18" wall but that's a little drastic. Thought about going with a BTL 15 and putting it on a 3500 (either aq or sundown) But figured for a little more money I could get 2 12" BTLs and put them on 2 2k's (aq2200 or sundown2000) Both would be going in roughly 4 cubes @ 32 hz Is it worth the extra money for 2 12" btls? Only a little more cone area and 1000 more watts.

I am in the market for a car alarm for my 94' Suburban before I put all the gear in it. I can vaguely recall that there used to be some of the alarm makers having wiring harnesses out that would plug into your existing vehicle harnesses so that it would cut out having to splice into all the different loc.'s for the alarm to function. I have done a little searching on the net so far and not really found what I'm looking for or what I thought was out there. Maybe I'm wrong or maybe they abandoned the idea. Anybody got any input on this. I am not new to installing an alarm on a vehicle, but it's been a few years, and I am just trying to cut down on time on putting one o…
