Alright so i was messing around with sketchup and i think i have decided on what enclosure designs i want. Specs are not perfect im just aiming for design right now. I want opinions of which you would get or which would work/sound better. Keep in mind its going in a full size standard cab truck #1 #2 #3 (I wont have both ports just didn't know if it would be better to port it on the top or bottom.)

Im going to building a box here shortly that will use aero ports. Reason for this post is to hopefully find someone who has dealt with my particular problem before. Box will require 3 aero ports each about 17" in length 3" in diameter. An experimental ABC box. although i have no more than about 11.5" depth to work with (internal) The box will be going into a s10 so not a ton of depth to play with. I will need to use elbows in my ports. I really like the precision port kits but they dont seem to offer an elbow attachment. I took a look over at parts express and it appears Dayton makes kits that do offer an elbow..although reading a review on the elbow piece someone says th…

  3. Yeah i thought that'd get some attention. I've got a freind that has 2 12" MA Hardkore (actually not as bad as i thought theyd be), and he has a Boss 3000 watt amp powering them. I smirked a little when i saw the amp he had on them, and it got me curious, what do you guys think/know the actual rms on this thing is? And how does boss even get away with overrating them so d4mn much? The title is a joke, and only intended to get some attention and maybe get a few people frustrated.

Hey guys. Ok so a few weeks ago, my stereo began to exhibit a strange problem. It would sort of skip but while fading in and out with weird background noise that sounds like a disk spinning. I figured it was the CD player in my deck, but this problem occurred while using Aux and the radio as well. The problem directly correlates with me slowing down, turning, or making any change in direction, and it is VERY sporadic. I obviously figured it was my deck, so I replaced it with a new one. The problem is now occurring again. I'm at a loss. It is obviously not anything in the deck, and I cannot figure out where this very odd fading/skipping would come from. And like I said, …

Well its my senior year of highschool and i've been trying to figure out what to do with my life. I don't really have ideas but i was thinking about something to do with car audio. I enjoy tinkering with my system alot and think it would make a fun career. My question for ya'll would be does any body here besides the SSA owners do this as a career? Do you have any advice for me or guidance. I wanna eventually have a store that sells quality products very similar to the SSA store. Is there a school for this? Would there be a field i would need a degree in? Thanks for the help. EDIT: If any body is in the field if you don't mind me asking, what kind of salary should …

Ok so i'm at a crossroads. I have a bit of a problem. I want a system that consists of all the same stuff if i go with a company like pioneer or alpine. That or i'll mitch match a bunch of stuff. BUT i have a deck. CDA-9887. Its pretty cool. Originally i wanted a DEH-P880PRS, but couldn't get ahold of one for the right price. Now I have a friend who also runs a car stereo shop. He is currently sitting on 3 880PRS decks and needs to get rid of them. I think i can pick one up for myself for about 250. So do i Buy one and sell my 9887 and go all pioneer. PRS comonents, up front and a 3 way active setup with a Shallow 10" in the back, or do i stick with Alpine get…

Sup good people, I'm almost done with my installation...maybe another week or two, depending on my schedule. I've routed the power cable on the passenger side, the audio connects down the middle and all the speaker wiring along the driver's side. Now, I've built an amp rack to hold a DA D152 with the crossovers just to the left and right of it. The speaker wires going to the crossover that sits to the right of the amp will have to cross the power and ground cables. I can't believe I've gotten this far and totally forgot the rule about about keeping speaker wires away from power cables. My question is, will I definitely have audible interference? I heard/read somewhere th…

Some people wanted to see some larger cable so here you go. This is a shot of three-conductor 750MCM next to a 2" IMC coupling. The coupling is 2.5" in diameter so that gives you an idea of how large this stuff is. Picture is misleading though as the cable is actually about 3.1" in diameter. This stuff weighs 18lbs. per foot!!! And here's a shot of 750kcmil next to the three-conductor. This stuff is no joke. It can handle over 10Kamps of current!!! I have some even large stuff, but it was buried on a spool and I couldn't get to it to take some photos. And last but not least, my favorite big'uns!

Ive been buying alot of stuff lately for my upcoming build. Well certain things are popping out at me that Im going to need to purchase... First thing is an equalizer. what is a good EQ at a affordable price? Would love zapco, but its not in my budget right now. Also I had a PPI EQ a while back and it only had 2 inputs (1 main and 1 aux) which were switchable. my deck has 3 sets of RCA's in the back (Front, rear, sub) .. how is this done? Do i only use 1 set going into the EQ and EQ out to my sub and high's amp's? Which set of RCA's off the back of the deck do I use? Front, rear or Sub? Sorry for all the dumb questions, just stuff thats running thru my head i need to get …

The Tang Band website won't load for me, so if someone could throw me a box size, for these two woofers: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-832 http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-831 I am thinking about a new speaker-backpack, for the school show. I will build the box for this out of 1/2" mdf, tuned to 32hz, with one aero port. Also does anyone know of a small (size) 2 or 4 channel amp (4 channel preferred) i need a realtively cheap small footprint amp, to go in a backpack. i am purchasing a 12 volt, or 14 volt battery to power it. Nothing too powerful, i want to keep away from clipping it.

Hello everyone. I am trying to help a buddy put some thump in the trunk of his car. I have a little experience with subs and wiring, but I have never heard a system in a trunk. He is wanting to drop about $800 into this, including the wiring, sub(s), and amp. At first thought I figured a 15" bl and a sundown 1500d would do the trick, but he has no experience with porting or box building. If he went sealed I thought an Fi Q would sound very clean, but I'm not sure if that is what people look for with a trunk install if they want to hear it good in the cab. Would it be worth it taking the easy way out and going sealed, or should he look for a decent box builder? Also, w…

So I've been debating on how to do my front stage for a while, and would appreciate some help. I currently have an 880prs for the processing and 8 channels of amplification to work with. One of my latest ideas was to ditch the tweeter and run the full range higher. (Is it possible to have it play that high, or a bad idea?) I know that I'm probably leaving out vital inf…

I am looking to upgrade my current setup. I have a Directed Audio D2400 pushing 2 Hifonics Brutus Subs in a ported pre-fab box. It was a pretty good setup, but now I want more. I have been looking at the AQ sdc2.5 15" woofer. I would want to power it with a Hifonics 1200D Brutus Series amp. Running it at 2 ohms, which would send about 900 rms to the sub. I researched, sub and amp is a little under $400 total . Is there any setup that is better than this for the price. They are going in the trunk of an 04 Grand Prix. Thanks Justin

Just showing off a bit and get myself motivated to finish (ahem, get started) on my build. So what do we have here? Oh, yes I did! Here something a bit closer. The main bracket. Overall it's a nice bracket. Spacers are welded onto the bracket, which is a nice touch to ease installation. There is even a strategically placed bend in the bracket for rigidity. High quality fasteners are used throughout the kit. The instructions included are some of the best I've seen. There are lots of words and for those of us with the attention span of a fly there are color pictures as well. Stay tuned for my trials and tribulations installing this monster and upgrading my electrical. F…

I was wanting to get 1 BTL 18" & Rockford Fs. amp. If anyone could please help with what specific amps, etc. i need, it would be GREATLY appreciated. A cost estimate would be great too. I had been looking at the T10001bd and T1500-1bd Power Amps but i figured you guys would know a little more than i do. Also, im expecting him to run it daily 1k+.
