Well. im just doing a bunch of general research and Scott Owens has the current SPL record at 182.2 db in his F-250. Obviously insanely modified and i understand that, i was just curious what type of box he uses. I cant really find much on what he actually used, does he keep it a secret? Idk im just kind of curious, it would be a nice little fact to know!

Hey guys, been trying for the last week to get rid of my current equipment to make room for new stuff. I put some ads up, and not one person has been interested, not even any lowballers. lol When I had two Hifonics amplifiers of comparable power for sale last spring I got literally flooded with demand, and I asked just about the same amount of money. Although they were unused. Here's what's for sale. Keep in mind I live in Canada. Not easy to get Fi up here, and Soundstream is not seen often. $300 - 12" Fi BL - Dual 2, Cooling, Flatwind, Daily $300 - Soundstream Tarantula TRX1500D $200 - Soundstream Tarantula TRX2.550 Was thinking about knocking $50 off everything. Let …

Heya guys, I'm starting a somewhat crazy build. I've run several sims and I just cannot viably fit a large slot ported box in the car. So.... I'm looking at .75 mdf double baffled top 21" x 24.5" x 20.75" giving 4.8 gross cubes. I'm bracing the box with rod iron. I was looking a putting 2x 4" ports and tuning the box to around 32hz, with a single zv4 18 on a crescendo bd2000. My question is do you guys think I should give a third 4" port and give up a tad of airspace? 3x 4" 16.5"long ports should give a tuning of ~34 hz. I could also go with a single 6" port, but I don't have the room in the car or box to put two 6" ports There is very little more room in the car afte…

I need some info any and all comments are welcome! here is my setup I will be running: 2-saz2000 2-nsb90's 2-15inch ns 1-h/o alt and the big 3 system potential 4000-4500rms at 2ohm potential current 350-400A now my question is DO I NEED 2 runs of + and - from front to back of my car???? currently I have 1 run of each(+ and -) from front to back of my car but getting another run of each will be nearly impossible! the only way I could do this is to either go under the car (or on top and call it a pin stripe) or I could run it on the driver side but then it will be mixed with my RCA wires. now my question is should I switch my 1 run of negative(-) to a run of positive(…

Well, as you guys may or may not know I am in the process of the design, and construction of my HT cabinets. The Adire Kit81 units in a ported box using flared vents is in order. I have spent weeks practicing with clear lacquer, as a how to. I have a ton of wood scraps out in the garage I have been practicing differant techniques, and materials and I have found my method. I have tried schelac, varnish, laquer, polyeurothane, and tung oil. I have tried several methods of application of each and I have found my very favorite to be Deft Lacquer, with a natural brush. I have a piece out in the garage with 8 coats of lacquer, but the final product on the units will be around …

Our friend Don Sambrook (goes by Rudy on the forums), who for a number of years has been dedicating his time and effort to a 3rd party resource for sound deadener, has taken all the results from his tests and started his own product line. Sound Deadner Showdown. There is the CLD Tiles, Butyl Rope, Vinyl CCF, and Vinyl barrier. So far the site looks great and has a very simple and straight forward layout. He is currently working on the site right now I believe, so keep your eye out for more updates. Check it out, the prices are very reasonable too.

Hi fellas. I am on the market looking for new eardubs. I was pretty happy with my original ones from Sony Ericsson till they stop working and I bought some cheap ones which are very bad. My phone is SE Walkman W810i. The sound was awesome with its eardubs and I am looking for something at the same or better level of quality. Must feel good in my ear, sealing good the environment sounds like road noise etc, very good response in all desired frequencies and deep bass. And not very expensive. I see some for 20-30$ on ebay with shipping which sounds good. I have no knowledge at all about eardubs and that's the reason I am doing this thread. Read good things about Sennheiser a…

As you have probably heard, some people say that too little power can blow speakers. Well... How can I say this... BS!!!! Too little power will only cause the maximum output level to be low. Abuse and the defective 'wing nut' (an idiot) connected to the volume control blow speakers with low powered amplifiers. If driving a speaker with low power would cause them to fail, speakers would fail every time you lower the volume on the head unit. I will try to explain what happens when speakers are driven with clipped signals but remember... you get what you pay for. Note: This page deals mainly with speaker damage that involves thermal damage of the voice coil. Speakers can…

So I'm currently running one 2ohm 12 inch icon on a 1200 watt Cadence amp at 1 ohm.. in 2.4 cubes tuned at 29.. it sounds very good. But I want louder more spl.. as much as I can cram in the back of the bug without losing my backseat.... was initially going to move to a 15" X or zcon. Somebody here said my best bet would be to add a 2nd icon 12.. so that's my plan. I think I can squeeze 4.5 to5 cubes and was thinking 34-35 Hertz.. I definitely want to get a better quality amp even though I've had zero issues with the Cadence. It doesn't even get hot.. but I'm pretty set on the zapco St series amps. My question is how many watts should I give the icons. Without straini…

Im trying to learn more about subwoofer building. Specifically how different parts affect the sound of a woofer. Soft spiders vs Hard spiders, Aluminum coils vs Copper Coils, High roll surround vs Normal. Is there a thread that goes into detail about this sort of thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Today, I just finished installing everything in my car. It includes, Fi BL 12 Sundown SAE 1200d Ported box tuned to 33hz. 1/0 all around. Big 3 already done. I got everything done, and went for a drive to a less populated area. I started to play some music, and noticed that, this setup was hitting just about as hard as my two previous Kicker Comps on 300 watts in a sealed enclosure, if not less. I knew this wasn't right My setting on the amp are as follows: Subsonic filter: About 30 hz Crossover: about 60 hz Gain: About half (Not sure what to set it to exactly since I'm running off a line output converter <---- What I think the problem is coming from) And it's j…

Well, as if two SP4 18's isnt big enough, lol After doing measurements I have enough room for 3, so I just ordered another one. So now I have time to build a new enclosure and not have any down time which is cool. I ordered another Dual 1ohm. So now becomes the question of amp and ohm load choice. After looking at my wiring options I think it will work perfect. For at least a couple months I need to run all three off this one Crescendo BC5500. Which I actually think will be ok for now and get loud. Three dual 1's will wire to a .67ohm load which I think that will be fine if I'm thinking correctly and hopefully put out close to 2000 watts per sub. My electrical is very sta…

So far this has been a learning experience to say the least. It's been frustrating at times, especially with the AZ heat. I'd like to list some advice/say a few things that I've learned so far. I'll update with more pics later. Think about your space! I've had to measure and visualize my trunk 20x over before I finally agreed on some concrete dimensions. This is how I came to purchase the XCON 12 and fit it in it's optimal enclosure in my trunk. I also have room for 2 amp racks if I need as well. Tools It's been quite an investment for the tools that I had to buy, but it's incredibly worth it. These are my first tools, and they're for a project that I really care abou…

I am trying to design a system that will give me very strong punchy output specifically to reproduce the sound and FEEL of drums, kickdrums, etc found in rock music. It needs to sound good, and get loud. To what end would to go to achieve this goal? Is it subs, midbass drivers, high powered components? Door/vehicle treatment? Speaking specifically about the subwoofer portion for now, how should I start? I have 8 cubes of space and about 1000 RMS available, with the ability to do 1800-2200 in the future if need be.
