Hey guys I've been searching around trying to find the answer to this question with no luck. I've seen plenty of topics/build logs where subs are being inverted but no real how-to on the wire aspect which brings me to my question. Do I have to do anything special to the wiring if I want to invert my subs? I slightly remember reading something about needing to change the polarity. Is this true? If so, is there a setting on the amp or do I just switch the neg/pos wires on the amp? This would be the first time I'm trying this. The reason I want to do it is the baskets on my Nightshades are the oldschool sexy chrome and my box is a little on the small side. I hear running the…

Hello everyone, Its been several years since I was in the car audio scene. I am interested in getting my sub up an running again in a cost effective way. Last I was involved, team PSI was doing a lot of customizing subs, many many people were running Sundowns, and Audioque, DD, and FI. I had an 18" Treo Engineering SSX which was rebuilt be PSI as a dual flatwound alum VC. I was running an Autotek MM3000.1 at .5 ohms tuned to 33Hz. Daily I was doing about 148+ db. I saved this sub for the last 5-6 years because I loved it so much and swore to myself I would use it again some day. Team DOA was killin it in the Chicagoland competitions, especiall…

Well, I'm pretty much excited right now. Just ordered my new BTL N2 18 a few minutes ago. Just wondering if you guys think an aq2200 will do the trick of supplying this beast with the power it needs, and if not, feel free to give me an affordable suggestion. Also, do you guys think a high output alternator would be necessary for a late 90s Tahoe if I wired another battery in the trunk?

I have a 2002 F250 Diesel That I am looking to upgrade my sound. I am not looking for a major system that will make my neighbors go def its really for my enjoyment. So What I have questions about are set ups in general. Ive currently got a head unit already it is http://www.docs.sony.com/release/specs/CDXGT55UIW_mksp.pdf . I'm currently running a fi audio sp4 15 at. 5 ohms with a hifonics brz. 1700 amp. I have a 350 amp alt and a xs power d3400 under the hood and i'm still having problems with my voltage, when the sub hits hard i drop from 14.5 to 11.7volts at some points, what else do i need? More batteries or is it the alternator? The alt was bought of ebay from BnR parts. Just wondering if i should send the alt back and look for a new alt. And if i did send it back what amp alternator should i be looking for? I plan to get a crescendo 3500 within the next few months.

I did some research and here's what i'm thinking of putting in my grand prix. Headunit - Pioneer DEH-P7700MP 6x9's - Pioneer 5-way TS-A6991R 460w (80rms) or TS-D901P 350w rev series (60rms) 6 1/2's - Pioneer TS-D161R 260w (60rms) Subs - 2x P312D4 1000w (500w rms) was thinking T2's but that's overkill Amp for my high's - P4004 100w x4 (gets more but don't need it) Amp for my subs - P8002 (should net me 500w rms to each sub) Anything you'd change? Reasoning? Box suggestions? Edit: upon further research a P2002 should net me near 60w per speaker instead of using a 4 channel P4004

www.criticalmassaudio.com Man, I remember these guys from back in the day. I bought one of their 15s when I saw them in Shaq's Astro van. Good product. Apparently they've been brought back to life by parent ICON. Seem to have some very promising products coming out. I remember a test on those electrostats by CSR back in the day. AWESOME! Check out the site!

I've been looking at peoples builds that involve walls. My question is could you just build a box and stand it up to facing forward then seal it off? How come you have to secure the box so much when its walled but when you have it laying normal it doesn't have to be?

So I decided I was going to finish deadening my car tonight. Only part left was the floor. Now in hopes of being a little more efficient than the ole' heat gun, I used an oven I purchased for powder coating. Awesome deal for $30. Anyways, I cut all the pieces to fit, then removed the backing, slapped them face down on the aluminum side and let them sit for 5 minutes each at 200 degrees. Worked out pretty good. Hell of a lot quicker than sitting there fanning the heat gun back and forth. If anyone has this option available to them, I suggest trying it. Don't let them sit for too long though or the adhesive(read asphalt) will start to bubble and overflow onto the ove…

I'm in the market for a new ride. Wanting to spend $20K or less. It must be 4 or 6 cyl. (not 8 because of high gas prices). I prefer Honda, Nissan, Toyota & Hyundai. I have (2) JL W7 12s powered by (2) JL 1000/1s. I currently own a 4-door Accord & have the (2) 12s firing towards the rear. The bass is nice, but my truck rattles BAD. VERY annoying. I've tried firing woofers forward in this car & was not as impressed with their performance as I was with them firing towards the rear. I need your opinions. Should I go with an SUV & fire them towards the rear? If so, what's an appropriate-sized SUV for the 3 cu ft. box required for the 12s? And how much space sh…

Ok hey guys, im new to this forum. Im guessing you guys are type experts on subs if not, any information helps. I have a 07 BMW X5 and I just bought a 15" Soundqubed subwoofer and a x14 brutus hifonics 1500 watt amp I want to wire to 1ohms, and im doing it also to my stock head unit. My battery is in my trunk so I don't have to wire a lot to the front of the car. Also wiring with 4 gauge. I was wondering what would the dimensions be for my box? length, depth width? volume? what could my sub displacement be? and my port displacement? Im thinking also 4.5 cubic net tuned 34-38hz please let me know give me ideas, info, anything thank you so much GS

My dad is going to help me build the enclosure with his CNC machine so things should go smoothly when cutting the boards to their correct lengths. Right now I have a 2.3cu. box tuned @ 33hz (which I built it myself) and it gets decently loud, but I want to get louder which is why I decided to make an enclosure which will hold two Icons. I listen to a variety of music such as heavy metal, alternative, rock, R&B, rap, techno, and some dub step. I will get back to you with my trunk dimensions when I get home from work. I want to use this box as a daily use, but I still want it to get loud. What type of box will be the best to build to achieve this? On a side note, I als…

Hey fellow SSA members, tonight i am devoted to learn this to the fullest, so there will be a lot written.. and questions as i go along, big thanks goes out to ANeonRider because this is all based off his How To: Set your Amplifier Gain - SSA Car Audio Forum (I'll be working at the thread for about 30min to an hour before posting) THIS IS GOING TO HAVE QUESTIONS THAT ARE DUMB... but i need to ask them to get it clear and have no doubts. To figure out what voltage you should set the gains to, multiply the RMS power of the amplifiers output by the impedance of the speaker, then find the square root of that number. -- I'm going to be using: PDX 4.100 Alpine Type R comps *4 …

I just bought a dodge stealth and I'm having a box built to take up where the spare tire is and I'm gonna be running a Orion hcca 15.2... My problem is amp choice... I've been looking at the hifonics bxi2006d but I'm not sure it that would be enough power for that sub... I'm tryin to stay under 300 for an amp because I still need to by a HO alt and all my wiring... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Ok so most of you have heard me ranting in the ihop about this for a couple months. But now i'm starting to overanalyze and getting burnt out. I'm putting a system (yo) in my father's vehicle. His hearing sucks, tone deaf, badly in one ear, bla bla bla. basically it's just something that will sound "good", his current system sounds like ass and is so harsh i can't stand to hear it. The new system just has to be loud enough to be listenable(is that a word?) at driving speeds. lets start with what i have so far 4ch RF amp (thank you ramos) for mids and highs, yes, i will be going active 2ch butler/phaze amp, i'll probably use this as the sub amp, why? because i have…

I haven't heard very much about hear much about these subs except that they are under rated at 600w RMS, my friends 2009 ssa icon just popped, (intentionally) but were now looking for something new and i was wondering if you could run the obsidian at over 600w RMS daily. coming from 1250 with the ssa to 600 is kind of a change so just wondering.
