Hi everyone, just had a question about competitions. Is there a general rule where you cant sit in your vehicle at a certain db level? I'm talking about hearing safety. I may want to carry that over into my daily driver practices.

Since I got some time and a little money (very little) on my hands I really want to start tinkering with something so I am going to add a substage to my truck. First off my goals are to add a substage to take some pressure off the front stage and overall, make my system better sounding. I plan on running a Mach 5 MAW-10 with a Rockford Fosgate P325.1 amp in a sealed box (up or downfire) in an extended cab. I have set my budget at 220 dollars for everything including box supplies, distribution blocks, and extra wire. The budget really may be hard to not break but its all I can afford for a while. I saw a MAW-10 used for $40, shipped on the forums here but noticed the threa…

  3. Running a 10" JL (300 RMS) on an Alpine amp at 150 RMS at 4 ohms and I just fried it. Same happened to my last 10" Punch. I thought i had the sub matched perfectly to my amp but obviously I am doing something wrong. Anyone know of any good instructional material I can read to educate myself before I waste any more money? I wanted to upgrade my sub and amp but not if I am going to just ruin another driver. I do listen with the bass boost up and at high volume, I am definitely hard on my subs, but thats why I was careful not to over power this one. What else could I be doing wrong? HELP!

I may have been sleeping, but I don't recall seeing them before. http://rcamobile.com/ Appears RCA has come out with a line of 12V mobile products. I'm kind of intrigued. Their other products are geared more towards the affordable end of the price spectrum and are of reasonable build quality. If these follow suit, I would expect atleast the electronics to be a decent alternative for the budget minded individual.

Hey guys I've been searching around trying to find the answer to this question with no luck. I've seen plenty of topics/build logs where subs are being inverted but no real how-to on the wire aspect which brings me to my question. Do I have to do anything special to the wiring if I want to invert my subs? I slightly remember reading something about needing to change the polarity. Is this true? If so, is there a setting on the amp or do I just switch the neg/pos wires on the amp? This would be the first time I'm trying this. The reason I want to do it is the baskets on my Nightshades are the oldschool sexy chrome and my box is a little on the small side. I hear running the…

This seemed like an appropriate place to put this, sorry if its not. I would like to get recommendations on good installers in the central/north central Ohio area. I want to talk to someone about my custom glass enclosure I plan to build, see how feasible it is or possibly have the shop do it if I think it's too much for me to handle. I really want someone who can teach a bit here. Not just looking to make a sale, someone I can talk to. Any ideas?

As the subject says I have blown one of my JBL mids. Does anyone know if I could by just the mids or possibly send the one I blew back to JBL for a repair. I have never delt with JBL so I don't know if they ever offer something like that. I am very pleased with the mids and don't feel like replacing the complete component system.

Hello everyone, Its been several years since I was in the car audio scene. I am interested in getting my sub up an running again in a cost effective way. Last I was involved, team PSI was doing a lot of customizing subs, many many people were running Sundowns, and Audioque, DD, and FI. I had an 18" Treo Engineering SSX which was rebuilt be PSI as a dual flatwound alum VC. I was running an Autotek MM3000.1 at .5 ohms tuned to 33Hz. Daily I was doing about 148+ db. I saved this sub for the last 5-6 years because I loved it so much and swore to myself I would use it again some day. Team DOA was killin it in the Chicagoland competitions, especiall…

  15. Hi guys, new here but been running Sq for a while. I currently have an Sq 3.0 12" and a Sq mono 1200w amp. I'm about to purchase a twin amp and hook them together. My sub is 1 ohm. They way I understood it that running both amps in parallel would keep it a 1 ohm load from both amps. I would like to see a wire diagram on were to run the speaker wire from each amp plz and thank you.

I was just wondering if anyone had used copper ring terminals for the ends of their wires when doing the big 3. I got a bunch of them for free but am a little worried about them corroding under the hood. Also I have read many times that when you do the big three to leave your original alternator wire and run a second line directly to the batt, but the Hi amp alt (165) that I bought says never to use the original just pig tail it and run a new 4 gauge or better wire directly to the battery. Let me know what you think its for a 1997 jeep cherokee.

I have a zx1500.1 kicker amp 1500 watts at 2 ohm's//. 2 ohm stable,,,, a duralast gold battery. (primary) 0 gauge knu wire. I just put it all in my f-150 . it all worked great with my two type r 12" wired at 4 ohms. but i recently got a 15" Fi BL fully loaded dual 1 ohm. I built a box and wired it up, set the gains and it worked great for about 4 hours. then the amp suddenly shut off. i'de hard reset it and it would work for another 2 minutes and go in to protect again. so i got the duralast gold. cuz it worked great with the amp and 4 type R's at 2 ohms in my galant. no voltage drops. .......... so i put one in my truck and it made no difference. eventually it just didn…
