Ok I was at the shop today and decided to do my FIRST hands on experience in box building. I took the old face of my box and decided to switch it out to a dual btl box. Of course I messed up a little bit. What I messed up on was the shops saw went out today on me and I decided to use a jigsaw to cut the bottom of the face (major "f" up) . So my face was a little uneven. So I plan on using bondo and resin to fix it. With the face put on the box spray painted black it is hardly noticeable, but tomorrow will test my first challenge. I will also be bracing the mess out of the box. What port should I use? I am thinking 2 or 3 aero (pvc) ports, but what size aero (pvc) ports a…

Not sure if this is the correct place to post...if not, mods, feel free to move! I recently installed a HU for a friend. She has a 1989 Ford Taurus. When she bought the car, the front speakers didn't work. I replaced the speakers last spring, and that did not fix the problem. This past weekend, I installed a Pioneer HU, hoping that would correct the issue. But, no, it did not. So I am wondering...could I just splice new speaker wire into the Pioneer side of the harness, and basically run new wires to the speakers? In doing this, I would bypass the factory wiring, hopefully solving the problem. But, if I bypass the factory wiring, won't I also bypass factory gro…

Ive been playing with my front stage for a little while and its just not cutting it for me.. let me give some info here, I have a 18" BTL running off a sundown 1500 @ 1 ohm, Damn speaker hits real hard (ported box). in a 97 Tahoe 4door. I dont know much about running a proper sounding front stage, i have deadened the 2 front doors and placed a pair of Zapco i-6 components in the front 2 doors. Powered by an older fosgate 600.4, using the supplied crossover (passive i believe?). I also have 2 eclipse coaxial's in the rear doors running off the same amp as the fronts. I have done the whole Velcro thing on the tweets moving them around to see what I like best.. they sound j…

Thinking of running 4 FUSION REACTOR 4" Coaxials http://www.fusioncaraudio.com/north-....aspx#addninfo, 2 in each door. I want to make a plate to fit 2 in each of my factory 2003 Mazda Protege ES 5x7 positions in my front doors. Will be running them off a DSC450 bridged, so 100 watts rms a set. With 2 Kenwood KFC-ST30 tweets in the factory mounts run off the deck, 22 watts rms. No rear fill, gonna leave 6x9 holes open. I want to try something different, tired of just replacing factory speakers with same size upgrades, but not ready to do full blown door pods yet. So, what do y'all think? I think it would be nice and loud yet crisp. Not really anal about having alot of mid…

I have 4 7inch Carbon Fiber AAs and a SAX 100.4D with a Alpine ida-x305s. My problem I have is when I turn the volume up on my head unit to the volume where my subs play great at the 7" AAs cannot keep up and I start to smell them very strongly, if i play them at a level where the AAs are playing fine my subs are barely moving and the volume on the head unit isn't close to where I set it at regularly. I had a previous front stage of (2) Alpine Type R component sets and they played amazing at the level I play my subs at.. because of this i have cut the remote wire on my 100.4 and have not been enjoying them. I don't know if it's because of the install/leaky door.. or if it…

I've been going back and forth on what to do with these midrange speakers I bought. I had planned to build a 3 way component set. I have a memphis m class 6.5 with focal 1" tweeter and a focal cross over I was going to use up front. But I'm thinking of mounting the closed back mid range on the door with a mounting ring. Running the comp set in factory locations with crossover off the front channel and midrange off the rear channel with a rca split from the front. It's fq response is 300hz-8khz I beleive without going out to look. Using the amps cross over to set it at 300hz, and running the comp set off the front channel crossed at 80, and lastly the sub (vfl 8) crossed a…

Well, those of you that read the build log know of he troubles I've had with my system and car. Combine that with the fact that we traded the Jeep in on the wife's new G35 and I'm left with nothing to haul stuff in. The decision has been made to sell my car and get a truck. The bad news on that is that I like driving my little go-kart and I'll miss it. The good news is that I'll finally have a truck again, I get to start from scratch on the system (some things will carry over and thus the point of this thread which I'll get to in a minute) and I'm getting a G37 at the end of the year to fill the performance car void left by by the departure of the SRT-4. Now to the po…

Does anyone know or have imfo on which full size four door pickup has the most room under the rear seat? Or which one is easier to install subs under rear seat? Looking at 2008 and newer. I'm shopping for trucks and what subs and equipment that will fit plays a big role in the decision.

I can get a Tsunami 1/0 Fuse holder (new) with a 250 amp fuse for $20 Shipped. So I have three questions. 1. Is this a good deal? If so, then I need help answering a couple questions. 2. I currently have a 90 amp fuse and have a Cadence ZRS-8 doing around 1800 rms probably. I am pretty sure the 90 amp fuse is bottle necking the power (if I have my volume all the way up), will this fix the bottle necking problem by going to a 250 amp fuse? 3. Is 1/0 good enough for 2k rms?

does anyone put a fuse between your subs and amp? just wondering because i used to have some g5's and they had fuses to hook them up at 8 ohms or 2 ohms. "seen several other woofers with fuse systems like some jvc's" just wondering is it a good idea to fuse them or bad idea?

My friend is deciding on an 18 for his van, and i told him i'd help him out by buying his 15's he has just chillin. They are Fusion Powerplant series, the older green ones, that are 450rms. I looked all over and i just couldnt find anymore info on the old models; does anyone have any experience with these subs? I am looking to make an spl (burp) setup for my moms hatchback. I would either get a AQ2200D or a Sundown 2000D. Bell's ringing, if any info is needed, just let me know.

With SSaudio going down and me working a ton lately i havent been able to get online, but I am back and kicking again. Heres a little update. I have some major plans coming up in the near future. Tomorrow i will be buying a 1990 Honda CRX, for Street A. The CRX is to replace my 92 Honda Civic, pictures can be found at www.team-bio.com. I realized that my Civic isnt going to get any louder than it is. Currently it is at 143.1, but might have changed as i did something yesterday and havent played with it. Anyways, Im going to be trying to get into the 48s in Street A with my crx. What I will be running in the car for the system is basically going to be all my stuff outta my …

I have an 18 Bl and Saz-1500d. There was a topic about this (not for sure if it was on this site actually), that i planned on referring to when it came down to installing, but i can't seem to find it anywhere. SO here's what i think im supposed to do, and if anyone could add/correct/verify this, please do. Set subsonic, LPf to where i plan to have them regularly. Set bass boost to zero, and gain to minimum. Get a sine test (60 hz? (would a loud 'music' cd work?)) and adjust the gains untill audible clipping occurs, and then back down a little. Doing all this with volume 3/4. Does that sound right? I'm 16, and this is my first setup (not system, because i cant afford mids …

OK, well some people have asked me about Tang Band 6.5 subwoofers, model # W6-1139SG. These are very potent little 6.5s and easily comparable to the JL 6W0. I actually thought in the install it was in was better than the JL 6W0 i owned. So how many would be interested in a group buy? Minimum TOTAL order of drivers would be 10 drivers, but the even cheaper price woul dbe for a total of 100 drivers, the exact price(s) has not been determined as i need to figure in shipping and paypal fees. These can be used in either HT or car applications with good results. Also i believe there is a 5.25 version coming out 1/6/06. This could also be added into the group buy.
