My friend was looking at simply buying one of these in order to recieve "more" power to his speakers. He has a 4 channel Polk Audio amp in the back, that is running a 12 bridged off of two channels, and the other 2 channels are hooked onto some random 6x9's he has. The amp is 800 watts x 4 channels at 4 ohms. I told him, that I have a amp he could buy for the sub itself, and use the amp for his front and rear stages. He has a H/O Alt on a 1988 Camaro with a red-top ultima battery. Do you think it would be worth spending about a hundred and twenty dollars to buy this "power brick"? Or to just simply use his 4 channel amp. http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/ktp-445 Tha…

  3. What is the cheapest route to get 150dB at 25Hz? Two hardcore 15's and two SAZ amps, one HO alt and 10 batteries? Small vehicle walled or CRX subs up port back? How much would it all cost? Fiberglass, MDF, 2x4's, all thread, sound deadener, decent looking/running vehicle.

Alright, so I would like to get some input from the community on this one. Just a note, when I say "I", I will be referring to anybody building a system. Ok, so if I was to build a brand spanking new system in a completely stock vehicle. Where would I start, and where would I finish? That is the main question that this thread is created for. I am looking for inputs on how a system should start IDEALY for someone that is starting from scratch. Lets just assume that money, space, and time is out the picture on this one, which I am fully aware is never the case. Where should a person start. I am going to list thing is ascending order, starting from the most important, to the…

  6. Hello, I recently received a 12" btl. I put it in a well built box (I have pics in the build log section), on a Sundown saz 1500 amplifier. I had a weird noise coming from the speaker at my max volume. Even if I did not change any settings from my previous setup (I had an xcon 15" on it with NO problem), it seems that my gain was too high. I turn it down and everything is good now ! But I want to find good sounding test tones to set the gain right on the amp. Can somebody show me where to find some ? I think in the 50 to 60 hz range. I set the gain by ears, and I will try to see what I can do with a DMM for that. Thanks in advance.

  7. Hello guys i have recently pulled all the factory crap out of my truck and ordered some things but i have a few problems. I bought a set of Cadence CVLT-35B tweeters along with a pair of Selenium St-200s i also purchased two pair of Alpine SPS-500(i know i could have gotten components just didnt want to) . The amp i have is a Hifonics HFi100.4 and the headunit is a Pioneer AVH-P5200BT. At the time of purchase i didnt know the seleniums needed a bass blocker of some sort so i searched and came across using an active crossover. My question is would i be able to use what i have listed with the addition of a crossover or should i buy a separate amp for the tweeters? The cros…

  9. A really nice kid that comes to my town once in a while to check out my van build has a school dance coming up and wants to borrow one of my EP4000s to run off his old receiver that has no crossover. He's running a car audio sub, I think it's a 15" Shocker Sig I'll make sure tomorrow, probably in a car audio box built to spec, going to guess 4-6 cubes tuned around 33Hz...I'll verify that as well. I trust the guy and he's really cool, but I don't ever move my amps...I dont ever fiddle with them...I dont want anything happening to them. My girlfriend, her son, and I use the stereo round the clock. I'd really like to come up with a VERY cheap alternative if possible and try …

So here is the scoop. 02 Silverado with older Pio Premier, H701, C701, Sundown 100.4, Sundown 1000D, big 3 with all 1/0 (pos to alt, neg to frame, neg to cab). Had some trouble with some tweets blowing (Link to that thread) and narrowed it down to the Sundown amp. Quote from previously linked thread below Had it sent to db-r they sent it back after they replaced some things. This is what db-r said... So I got it back and during the re-install I installed a Alpine W505, added a HU ground to metal in the truck. For the amp ground I ran a bolt through my cab with 1/0 on one side to the distro and 2 2gauge strands on the other side (had it so I used it). The 2 gauge str…

I just hooked up two 12" dual 2 ohm Ascendant Audio Havocs powered by a sundown audion saz -2500 amplifier in my 2004 dodge ram quad quab in a bassforms box. Before this i had two 12 inch kicker cvr powered by a cheap 2500 watt ssl amp. The problem im having is first i think one of the subs is busted, it sounds like a voice coil it rattles as if its not tight until you hold the sub down, when you push on the dust cap off it it rattles profusely so i think i may need to send it back. My second problem is my setup is no louder then it was before. i mean its loud but i expected it to be a decent level louder then it was. I have my subs hooked up to produce a 1 ohm load. My …

Hello, I am finishing up on my box and all I need to do is put my aeros in. I wanted to know if it would be a problem if I had an overly large sealed enclosure. I do realize the bigger the enclosure, means less power handling but better efficiency. I have 2 AA Havoc 12's on an saz-2500d. It has come to a conclusion that these I can't find a good alternator for my vehicle which basically forces me to run 4 ohm (if I have voltage problems at 1 ohm.) So I'll be running around roughly 600 watts. Which sucks. The enclosure is meant to be a 3.90ft^3 box @ 33hz. But I'm wondering since i havent made the aero holes yet, If I can just make it a temporary sealed box at around 4.20…

I have the chance to buy an orion hcca d2400. The guy says it keeps blowing fuses. I'm thinking the power supply is shot. Can anyone give me a rough estimate as to what db-r charges for this sort of repair. I put in a request but haven't heard anything back yet.

Im wanting to purchase new subs for my explorer once i get my tax return. i previously had 2 15" kicker L7s in a ported box power by a memphis mojo 2400 amp. id like to stick around paying a 1000.00 for subs/amp/head unit. maybe a little more. id still like to get 2 15's. i had the last sytem 4 years ago so ive been out of the loops on good sub/amp combos. could i get some recommendations please. im wanting to be very loud, not to worried about SQ either.

So I just got me a new ride, 99 Dodge Dakota extended cab, which means designing a new system and a little insight from the wonderful minds at the SSA forums. As stated, ride is a 99 Dodge Dakota extended cab with rear seats removed. Completely stock at the moment. Planned electrical would be Big 3 upgrade with 0 ga, stock battery up front and a Kinetik 2400 in the back. Wasn't planning on upgrading the alt at this point, but I realize it may be a necessary upgrade in the future. Already decided on equipment would be an Alpine digital media receiver and some Second Skin sound deadening, yeah not much but a start. I listen to hard rock, metal and some rap. Budget would be …
