  1. I want to say it's a late 90s Yukon suv the only thing I need help with is figuring out if I should try and budget for as most cone area as possible or highest quality sub I can get like 8 12inch pioneer subs or 1 hdc4 18 keep in mind he probably isn't going to want to upgrade alt and batts so I'm working with about 1000rms if that also that he probably don't want to spend alot

I've got enclosures fiberglassed into the rear quarter panels of my Tahoe, and can't give up any more of my cargo room. I work as a General Contractor, and frequently carry plywood and sheetrock in the back of the truck. My current Celestion AD15H's sound great with the crossover point set at 40HZ, reproduce the low frequencies with great detail, even with the measly 250 watts I'm sending them each through my Lightning Audio 500 watt mono amp (2 ohm load). The only problem, I've found that they have a tendency to "blatt" (for lack of a better term) if I up the crossover point to even 50HZ. Could this be a result of too little power, too small of an enclosure, too high (or…

I was searching the topics around here looking for glassing the interior of a sub box, and didn't find too much. My question is. My sub calls for 1 inch MDF but my installer says he will use 3/4 and glass the inside to "keep the weight down". Do I have anything to worry about as far as flexing and structual integrity? I want to do a sealed enclosure about 1.6cu.ft. Are there any other suggestins for a sealed box? I want to do it right the first time as my funds are a lil limited. Hey thanx guys!!

  7. I have no headunit, no need for a $50 harness but after having no chimes for the first time today I realized this means no blinker noise or low gas warning. I'd like to restore that, but it would be the ONLY output I'd need from the harness making me not want to buy one. Of course, if the signal is only over the CAN bus and has no analog counterpart it'll cost me something, but was curious if anyone has rednecked a good solution? And yes, I'll still have a stereo in the Escalade (2010) but it'll be a carputer and no headunit.

As for the process of going Active I understand that part, my definition of going active is letting your headunit, processor or amp's crossover capabilities control the speakers frequency range. Instead of using one speaker to play a wide range of frequencies you can split them up into a 2-way sytem (midbass/midrange and tweeters) or 3-way system (midbass, midrange and tweeters); where each speaker plays its own certain frequency range such as midbass, midrange and highs. That is my simple understanding of going active and not the best or most accurate definition. Now onto the question at hand I use Eminence Alpha-6a for now on my Sundown SAX-125.2 (2 per channel) and the…

Because of the price of the two local audio shops to get a true custom enclosure built, everyone any anyone is getting cookie cutter boxes from them. IE, preprogramed into their saw for their vehicle, or, even cheaper, basically prefab w/o the actualy fabrication. Better than prefab but unless the T/S params lend themselves to the given volume/tuning and the box is tuned to the owners ears, they end up unsatisfied. I've already done a few boxes for people around school and they have been extremely satisfied. I recive complements almost daily on "so and so's" box. But these where mostly close friends and i charged very little. My question is, how much should i charge to ma…

  11. Hey all. The time has finally come for me to enter my first comp tomorrow. I will be in a 2001 galant and my setup will be 2 American Bass XD 12's, a planet audio BB2 2400 rms 3000 max sub amp and (don't laugh) a dual 4 channel amp for my mids which are brand X. I know this setup is really crappy to most of you but I have worked hard to get it this way and it doesn't sound half bad. I don't really care how I do or anything I just really don't want to embarrass myself when I show up. I will take pics if I can and let you guys know how it went. Can't wait!!!! W00T

Put In Some Damplifier And Luxery Liner This Weekend From Second Skin Audio. When All The Interior/Carpet Was Ripped Out, I Got A look At The Underneath Side Of The Rear Deck. It Currently Has 2 Stock 6X9's That Go Pretty loud For The Fact That There Stock. Theres Also 2 Square Cutouts Next To The Where I Will Be Putting My ID 6.5 CTX's I Dont Really Know much About 6.5's Besides The Popular Brands Out There; Rockford, Kicer Etc Etc. What Would You Pair The Image Dynamics With? Each Set Will Have Its Own 100.2 Powering Them

so, i found out on saturday that after i come up with 1400 bucks for repairs, i can have my dads old car. it is a 99' ford contour. you know me, the typical basshead, already thinkin about possible woofers. i settled upon the IA-DP21 i want to put a wall where the backseat is, and integrate the box into the car. (i.e. make a box using wall of backseat, firing woofer into cabin, porting it through the rear deck) I think it would look cool as hell. Here is the amp i am gonna use: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=5694 i know, not the best but i want to bump a little while saving up for a 3kd. damn, bell rang g2g to lunch. ty for feedback on this idea!

  24. I am going to do both bassrace and spl. Just wondering what would be some good sub that can handle 4k rms daily. Idk if there even is. I'm getting mike singers bass race box from his eclipse to put into mine. It's tuned to 35hz right now. Any ideas? I have $1000 limit. I have to sell my 15 btls first though.
