Ok, within the next month or so I plan on getting a car stereo for my new car. I'm probably getting 4 alpine type component speakers, tweeters and cross overs with either a kenwood double din deck or a Power Acoustik touch screen deck to power the speakers. Now for the subs, right now Its between Fi and Dc, I'm leaning towards Fi but I'm just wondering what is the difference really between the Bl and the Dc?

well the show today was pretty good. Had quite a bit of SPL cars there. They had SQ cars for all classes, but only one per class so they all took 1st place. They only had one Extreme SPL car that i do have pics of and it hit i believe a 171 db. Its the Treo Car. I was running my Icon 15 in the new 4 cu ft box tuned to 40 hz with my SoundStream PCA 2000d on it wired at 1 ohm. I was actually surprised i placed 3rd in my class out of 10 competetors. the finals pics are of me, the trophy, and the paper with the ratings on it. My highest was a 143.9 db, but then again the Icon is LSQ and the testings on a good SPL box are still up in the air. Hope you guys enjoy. 1…

Hey there, First time here. Looks like quite an interesting site -- I got a lot of reading to do I have a 1968 Camaro that I have a custom system in. I have 2 JL 12" subs in the trunk right now, that are just in a standard sealed box. I am wondering what the best setup would be for my subs. Do I want to keep a sealed box? Do I want a ported box? Do I want them facing away from the passengers or towards them? I have them facing away currently -- as that is what I was always told to do, but then again I see some people mounting their subs inward. Any advice would be great, thanks. Jeff

So I have a Poineer 3200bt, Pioneer TS-D1720C 6.75" speakers/tweets on a Pioneer GM-9500F amp, 12" RD Alpha V.2 powered by a Cadence ZRS-8 (1500rms). I have 1/0 gauge from my battery then it runs into a distributor with two 4 gauge leads coming out to the amps. 12 gauge from my 9500F to the speakers/tweets. I had the cadence amp and sub in my previous car ('98 accord coupe) and my lights would dim a little with the volume high. In my 2011 mazda 3 I sedan. I have my volume at 24 and the lights dim on every bass note, and I was on the freeway last night got my rpm's at 3k and at 26 my lights were still dimming. The bass on the HU is set to -4 and I can turn my speakers (wit…

  11. It's been said many times that it's not as useful to add more power, as to have a more efficient enclosure, or that a single woofer in a correctly designed enclosure is generally better off than two or more in less than adequate boxes; I took some measurements of my truck, and it looks like I have plenty of room for a pair of 18's. But will the difference between one and two woofers be worth the extra costs? I'm looking to get loud, and sound fairly good doing it, however I cannot afford high power woofers, especially until I can get larger alt in. My budget for woofers is <$400 each, but I have to determine what i'll be getting before I can make a choice for an amp. I…

  14. If anyone decides to go with FI - Your choosing to have the BEST. just my2cents Then again there havn't been to many top stereo's to listen to music on at SBN in the last 10 years. Some but not alot. FI showed up with the QUAD all day and I, an oldskooler who thought SPL had killed our sport, have witnessed the second coming. I was very excited to say the least at the best Daytona SBN's in over 10 years thanks to everyone reppin FI. You made the difference. It woulda been the same old thing - we find that one truck hear it walk around until we're back at the same truck. FI brought back the old days where you actually have something to do all day besides charge bat…

Hey guys I was just interested in what DSPs you use the most on your setups? We install a lot of Audison bitONEs and bitTENs. And a much smaller amount of Fosgate 360.3's, Helix P-DSPs, and JBL MS-8's. Just curious and what do you think of them?

I haven't heard very much about hear much about these subs except that they are under rated at 600w RMS, my friends 2009 ssa icon just popped, (intentionally) but were now looking for something new and i was wondering if you could run the obsidian at over 600w RMS daily. coming from 1250 with the ssa to 600 is kind of a change so just wondering.

  19. I am trying to design a system that will give me very strong punchy output specifically to reproduce the sound and FEEL of drums, kickdrums, etc found in rock music. It needs to sound good, and get loud. To what end would to go to achieve this goal? Is it subs, midbass drivers, high powered components? Door/vehicle treatment? Speaking specifically about the subwoofer portion for now, how should I start? I have 8 cubes of space and about 1000 RMS available, with the ability to do 1800-2200 in the future if need be.

So I dont have a whole lot of pics but here are some. I know other people have alot more. It was an ok turn out. Maybe 50 people, not too huge. Dan was on the grill making us adire heads food. Maybe 15 cars went on the TL mic. I hit a 133.5 at 37hz with 220 watts on a brahma 15 with the mic by the headrest and one window down in a temp set up until I get my sub amp. There were some sick installs there but I know other people will have pictures to post of them so I'm not even going to bother getting into them now. I dont know anyone else on this forum who was there, but more talk about the event can be seen at http://forum.soundillusions.net/showthread.php?t=38754 along wi…

I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla Type S and I was wondering if any of you have the same car and have a system in it or have seen a system in a Corolla Type S? I need some ideas on setups. Right now I have a Batcap 800 in the trunk along with Dynamat in the trunk and under and on top of the rear deck, a JBL GTO 1200.1 II amp powering 2 Orion HP 12s sealed in 1.2 cubes each. So far I'm upgrading my amp to a Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D and upgrade my Batcap to a solenoid and a Stinger SP1000 battery. I already have a 70 amp alternator so I don't feel the need to upgrade my electrical system. As for subs I don't know yet. So far I may want a pair of SS RL-p 12s sealed in 1.35 c…
