General Audio

Their is going to be a sound comp in my city on June 12th. They have a meter. But they want to use two of their random songs they pick for spl and sq. It's understandable for the sq part of the sound off. But the same song for the spl part? I want to use tones. They are just going to pick music. Which if the song has a 30hz bass line. If I'm tuned to 40hz and play it, my subsonic filter would just cut it out. One guy said "Thats not how it works at a normal sound off. Everyone uses the same track. That's how it's been at every other sound-off I have attended. this isn't my first." What should I say?

JUst curious man, Rockford use to be the Goto company for me, now it seems as if they have been conversing with best buys pres. or something to sale crap.... The last RF sub i bought was last years model, it said it could handle 900 rms right, so i got my jbl 1200.1, had the gains down, but had it so it could play a lil bit, after about 3 days i was back at BB asking for another sub, gotta love there warranty policy...HAHAHAHA, That could be a thing to do buy a whole lot of BB subs, get the warrant, goto comps burp the subs at whateva ya wanted, then take them all back hahaha... But i really dont know ABout RF any more, their stuff looks nice, but i have not really heard …

I have two kicker cvx 12" 2006 model subs in a prefab ported box that i believe is 1.25 cubes per chamber (not sure if that is net or total) and i was just wondering what differences i will see, and how significant they are, if i switch to a either 4.5 or 5.5 cubes net custom box with a single port tuned to 35 hz.

lol funny topic but true..heres the deal..latly i been really thinking if i need 4 18's since i will never compete and with all these noise violation laws..i think 2 18's will be enough for me..if they are not then no biggie just order 2 more..but heres the deal..do you guys think its justifiable to spend $1200 on sound deadening on just 2 18's? am i going over board? the plan is to go single layers on doors and double up every where else..which consists of 240 sq ft of damp pro and 160 sq ft of damp regular..so what you guys think? i just dont want to feel like the fools who buy rims that cost 3-5 times more then there car is worth..lol

I'm looking to get a o-scope. I do have an ancient scope it works, I think, there's just too many dials and chit than I know what to do with. And I rather know how to use it than just guess. What kinds of things should I be looking for? Size, Price, Features, etc. Are there any like idiot proof ones that are accurate and reliable? I saw the Velleman 10 MHz Handheld Oscilloscope over on Partsexpress.com Is it any good? and should I also pick up the Velleman 10:1 Probe as well, or do I really need it? I have a 2011 extended cab chevy silverado and plan on taking out the back seats and doing a box and keeping it under the back window and was wondering what the best setup would be. I will be running around 2-3k watts havent decided on amp yet but that will be the power range. My main questions are what will be best to do 4 15s or 8 12s or one 18 and also which way to fire the subs and the port. Any input or suggestions would be great thanks!

I see that there are a shit ton of abreviations for specs about subs. for example: fs qms qes qts mms cms sd vas spl bl My question is, when designing a box are there any one of these numbers i should pay attension to when deciding volume and tuning? -Thanks

i dont get how you are supposed to be able to use the two ohm option on most four channels amps. mostly the speakers usd for front stage come in 4ohm and they are not dvc so if i run them in parrallel two sets of speakers would be runnin at 1ohm each right? i know there are 2ohm 6.5 speakers out there but its like searchin for a ghost. and i have never seen a dvc 6.5. besides i have enough 6.5's layin around to last for a lifetime. so how do you get the most out of a four channel amp that does say 75x4 @4ohm and 125@2ohm?

Alright, i'm running a fosgate p450.4 bridged on a set of polk db comps, and a fosgate p1000-1bd (1230 at 1 ohm out of the box). My alty went out shortly before I put in the new system, so I upgrade to a 130 amp alternator, if i had more money at the time would have went larger. I also got an optima yellow-top. My lights are dimming like mad, and the sub is running a little warm, it's a 15" Q with bp power so i know i'm not over-driving it. i'm guessing lucky to get 900 watts to it after voltage loss. Hi everyone I am looking for some suggestions on a good 3 stage battery charger to charge my 4 deka group 24 AGM batteries that is good for both agm & standard flooded batteries my budget is around $100.00. so i got a saz 1500d pushing 2 12ssd in a ported box in an 08 impala. i noticed my headlights dim a little on when i turn it up, but my bass knob is all the way down. do i need an extra batt??? and is it alot of work 2 run 1? cuz ill probably just have it done at a shop. TIA

Hello fellow car audio fans. I am fairly new to the car audio world, but would like to get into competiting in a few local SPL comps in my 2003 Blazer 4 door. Not looking for anything special, not looking to spend alot of money, but I would like to get a 140dB in the Street A class. Prefer going the single 12" route, but its still up in the air. I do know I want Incriminator Audio woofer(s), but do not want to have to change alternators or anything terribly techincal. All input/suggestions will be GREATLY apprecaited. Thanks for your time.!
