Well originally I had a monster cassette adapter, worked well for 5 years, but as time went on, I got unlucky and one of my coworkers sliced the cord. So it still played, but only on the left speakers, it bugs me for a week before I decide to go to best buy and pick a new one up. Dynex or Rocket Fish? Both sound like crappy brands, lets get both! So I hook both of them up, they work, but are very quiet for some reason. I could listen to music at a normal level with them, but it required my H/U to be all the way turned up along with the ipod. So they both go back, and I go to a specialty store today, maybe 4 months after suffering with the monster one. It finally kicked th…

Hey everyone. I have two 10" type R's in a ported box being pushed by a sundown saz-1000d. i wanted to do some experimenting by inverting my subs to see if more air space would give me better/bigger sound. only problem is one of them would be hanging right over my saz-1000d. would the magnet on the type r interfere with my amp? I'd hate to lose it to a dumb experiment. I hope i can get an educated answer, but if everyone is uncertain ill just keep away. thankyou much!

so, as the title says, my friend has 2 12" Memphis PR's with a 500watt RMS PR amp. in a ProBass ported box.... it is a used system. but he hardly even bumps it. so it hasnt been abused. this will be my tempoary setup untill i get money for a bigger sub and amp. i kno he paid around $100 per sub. $299 for amp. and $150ish maybe $200 for the box. soo, (in your your opinion) what would the... -average price be? -and a really good price be? thanks alot in advance. -jonathan

I was looking around at mp3 players and trying to figure out what would sound better on my car stereo system. Came upon this new mp3 player called cowon j3 Koreon device just came out has eq and all other kind of stuff on it says its a SQ mp3 player also supports flac files. . One thing i found out flac files are the best sounding type files and ipods dont support them. Is this the real deal or can find something similar??? the price of it is cheaper then the ipod(Not that much).

Hello fellow car audio fans. I am fairly new to the car audio world, but would like to get into competiting in a few local SPL comps in my 2003 Blazer 4 door. Not looking for anything special, not looking to spend alot of money, but I would like to get a 140dB in the Street A class. Prefer going the single 12" route, but its still up in the air. I do know I want Incriminator Audio woofer(s), but do not want to have to change alternators or anything terribly techincal. All input/suggestions will be GREATLY apprecaited. Thanks for your time.! I look forward to discussing my build with everyone!

I am new to this forum and I am in need of some input. My goal is an somewhat simple SQ focused system and I feel like I have a good start with the equipment that I have but I would like to know if I am missing anything or I'd there is anything I could add to it that would help me reach my goal. I have been out of the scene for a while so my approach is somewhat basic and I don't know if technology exists that could really compliment my current setup. Understand these components have yet to be installed so from a first hand standpoint I am not sure it's even missing anything at all. Front stage: Boston Acoustics SPZ 60's with their upstage tweets in the A pillars Sub: Bos…

I got a ticket in Missouri for a "Peace Disturbance - Car Stereo from 50+ feet" I've only had the sub for 2 days so i'm pissed but I guess it was my fault, but anyways.. I was wondering how much these tickets usually end up costing? Thanks, and sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Alright so I just put an 18" Fi SSD in my 97 honda civic hatchback. I think its like 7.3 cubes and tuned to 33hz. I'm not sure what all info you need but just trying to be helpful ahead of time. Right now I just have a crappy 1000w sony amp from my temp. audio system to hold me over until I had money for the real deal. I'm starting to save up now and wanted to get all of your advice because you all have tons of experience with all sorts of amps and you probably know what my sub can handle. The guy I picked it up from said if i get a good clean amp I can run 1500rms to it.. On the Fi site it says 800rms so I'm assuming he got something upgraded. I know its the dual 2ohm c…

so i was thinking about getting a ssd 15 for christmas but i didnt wanna wait that long so i started looking for a job haha. anyways i was thinking that if i get a job i could get 2 ssd 12s and a saz-1500. would that be a good set up? also i was thinking about buying one ssd 12 when i get some money and run her off my alpine mrp-m500 and then get the amp and other sub later. i heard that the alpine mrp-m500 is not good for a sub because it has a set subsonic filter at 15hz so could that amp hurt that sub?

hey everyone i am in the market for a new amp. i currently have a us amps xt1600.2 powering my ssa icon 12'' and i am ready to upgrade to something that will do closer to 1000 rms at 1 ohm. i am looking at audiopipes (cant go wrong for the price...i have heard mostly good things about them) and cant decide between the ap1000d or ap1500d. it would be nice to have the extra 500 watts of the ap1500d but i am on stock electrical except the big 3 at the moment. my question is can i just run the ap1500d at the voltage for 1000 rms at 1 ohm temporarily until i get an external battery and what not? or will it still pull more power from the electrical system regardless if it…

Equipment: 2 Xcon 12's (dual 1's) on a Incriminator Audio 40.1 at 1 ohm (3600 watts rms at 12v on stable electrical), pioneer 5900ib First off, I came home today and I decided to do a little testing on the Xcon's where I could actually see them. I noticed that the subwoofer farther away from the port has much more excursion (xmax) than the one close to the port. I feel like this might have something to do with a ported box where the port is on one side, but I'm not entirely sure. I also noticed that the one with more excursion is getting hot, (one close to the port is warm but not hot). This concerns me, I feel like it points to one being at a different resistance tha…

So I just bought a 05 yukon with factory head unit and bose system and I ordered a kenwood kdc-x794 to replace headunit then pulled out old h/u and its got a couple plug ins for wire harness so I googled it and found out I needed the "gmos-04" adapter that cost around 100 bucks that is supposed to keep onstar ability and factory chimes, is there anyway I can bypass the gmos adapter to install the new h/u?

So I want to do the "Big 3" and I'm also about to re-run my amps power/ground because i'm upgrading amps and was looking for good cheap wire. I went to home depot and they have wire there that is much cheaper but I want to make sure it still works just as good? I saw they had 4awg and 1/0 and many others and they said they were copper wire. I just didn't know if it will do just as good. At my local audio shop its like $2 a ft for 4awg and $4 per ft of 1/0 but home depot is $0.85 per ft 4awg and $1.85 per ft of 1/0. It was just on their electrical aisle with all the random wires by the foot and crimps and all that good stuff. I was wondering because I saw people on here…

I need a new HU right now. I dont know if I want to go single or double din For single din im thinking about the Alpine 9887 (I dont like the new Pioneer ones, their interface sucks) For double din Im debating between Pioneer AVIC-Z120, Kenwood DNX9960 and Clarion NX700 and Eclipse AVN726E Now of course, with the double din I get much more features, but I lose a lot of things like crossovers, more-band equalizers, time alignment etc basically lose a lot of tuning options (will go active later on, dont know if the features matter after all?)and they are also much more expensive, these are $1000+ models. My goal is to have a loud car with muscle bass and clear highs, but de…

If my crossover has a low pass filter that ranges from 40-400 hz, does that mean whatever I set it too is the highest frequency it will play? Also, does that mean that 40 hz is the lowest it will play?

This system won't happen for a very long time, because school is my main focus right now, and it keeps me from home and my truck. I have a '93 Range Rover LWB, so plenty of space. Electrical consists of a 220amp alternator, 1/0 Big three, and a yellow top under the hood. Right now I have two fully loaded Fi SSD 15's on an Audioque 2200d. This system is pretty loud and fun, but it's not loud enough for me to be like dam, I need to turn it down quite yet. I want to run either Fi, SSA, or DC in the next system. The amp I KNOW I want to run is the Sundown 3500d, just having trouble deciding on 2 15's or 4 12's. I love the sound of 15's and how they can hit so low, so that's …

So I was bored tonight and I was going through my iTunes looking for songs that could be used as a show off playlist. I was looking through various artists and importing the audio files into Audacity. When I used the plot spectrum feature the absolute highest peak bass note was at -12db so far. That was a song off a bass cd I have. So that has me wondering. When I set my gains I used a 0 db test tone at 50 hz. I have control of the sub output level via the HU. Now I know songs never hit 0 db, so when I'm really wanting to bump I'll turn the level to +5 which really gets some songs hitting hard. One song that bangs hard is Young Jeezy " My Hood" In looking at the peaks I s…
