I have a Ford Ranger Super cab and over the past 5 or 6 years I've owned two Shivas. I have always powered them with the same amp I used for SPL...MTX Thunder 6500D in parallel for a two ohm load (rated on the 'paper' at 402 w/rms at 4ohms and 611 w/rms at 2 ohm). The first one I had in a downfiring box in the center of the extended cab (over the hump). The most current one I had in a really small box (built to take up less room). I never had problems with the downfiring one, even though my little cousin once pushed the dust cap almost completely in...and then I had air leaks so I permanently sealed it in the box...hey, it was already ugly. The one I have now though, tends…

Hey guys, been awhile. I've been messing around with the build here and there for the last 2 years and its largely remained the same. I swapped in a mini dsp 6x8 and a new 4 channel amp for the mids and tweets. https://imgur.com/Gdu11nn Currently the build is a 3 way front stage with SLS 8's in the doors along with Tangband w4's and some peerless tweets in the kick panels. The problem is that the driver side kick panel is this strange black hole for mid to high frequencies. I've spent the last two days trouble shooting the amp and wiring to make sure its not something electrical. That all said, I think I'm going back to the A pillar full range setup (eith…

Alright so I just put an 18" Fi SSD in my 97 honda civic hatchback. I think its like 7.3 cubes and tuned to 33hz. I'm not sure what all info you need but just trying to be helpful ahead of time. Right now I just have a crappy 1000w sony amp from my temp. audio system to hold me over until I had money for the real deal. I'm starting to save up now and wanted to get all of your advice because you all have tons of experience with all sorts of amps and you probably know what my sub can handle. The guy I picked it up from said if i get a good clean amp I can run 1500rms to it.. On the Fi site it says 800rms so I'm assuming he got something upgraded. I know its the dual 2ohm c…

For the record I remix quite a few songs and I'll post em up here whenever I do a new one. I don't like having zip files with all of them so I typically just upload them all to my kiwi6 account. All the songs I've recently remastered have a bass line that sits right around -5dB, so you may have to adjust your gains to get the most out of them. Here's a link to all my stuff: http://kiwi6.com/folders/wrg8208rg4 And here's a link to all of the songs I've gone through and remastered (I have a LOT to upload...I've remastered 65 songs so far but only have a few uploaded): http://kiwi6.com/folders/oaqnh8ntf0 Just did this one for Julian cause he wanted a remix of this song that…

Granted there are 2 types of consumption even in comp there are definite demarcations to power limits. With the introduction of 3k, 4.5k, 10k and strap-able options where does a person draw the line which is akin to Jumping the Shark?

whats going on guys, i need a little advise on amps. a month or so ago i finally blew one of my old 12's after years of abuse. i decided to replace them with the kicker 12 inch cvx's(4ohm). problem is the kickers are literally sucking the life outta my old amps, so iv been lookin to up grade them as well. i really like the kicker zx series but its kinda expensive. my question is. i can buy 2 zx750.1 cheaper than a zx1500.1. would this be the way to go? isnt it the same power? witch would cause a larger draw on my charging system? i dont have much experence with mono block amps. arnt u only suppose to use one speaker on one mono block? someone told me to get the 1500.1 …

well guys, i'll be moving into my dorm in less than a month now so i need to figure out what to do about a system i have a Yamaha RX-500U for the receiver, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...eName=WDVW&rd=1 says it's 50wpc x 2 but i know it has 4 channels and they're 6 ohm stable stereo/12 ohm stable mono my plan was to use the rear 2 channels to hook up a PE 250w plate amp with the speaker level inputs and run that to my RL-i8s at 4 ohms, i won't have my car so i might as well put the subs to good use, i need suggestions for box size and tuning frequency and then, i dont know what to do about my mids/highs, i want you guys' input on this i have these to wor…

I recently purchased a new car, one that I would actually be proud to put some money into and I am looking into buying some subwoofers for some extra thump when it comes to my car's audio system. I am on a tight budget knowing I am a college student. I would not mind having two subwoofers, but I know that would be extra money, so even just one sub with an amp would make me very happy. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good sub and amp. I dont need top of the line equipment, I just want a sub with some good sound that wont hurt my pocketbook too much. Thanks guys!

Well since Ive put it up on all the other boards I thought I would share it with you guys too, as some of you know Im from CA.com, most of you I know but some I dont... Ive decided to move to better forums that arent going to crap like over there... Anyways for my first post I figured I would show you my dads SQ setup, I only got things that were out in the open, because I didnt wanna take pictures of the DynAudio 7's in the doors and the Velodyne tweets in the kicks, or the baffle job under the cover for the tens, so Without further ado, here's the cover for the subs in the rear deck: Here's the Deck and Symmetry: Here's the amps: Here's the pole vent shot of one of t…

Hey there, First time here. Looks like quite an interesting site -- I got a lot of reading to do I have a 1968 Camaro that I have a custom system in. I have 2 JL 12" subs in the trunk right now, that are just in a standard sealed box. I am wondering what the best setup would be for my subs. Do I want to keep a sealed box? Do I want a ported box? Do I want them facing away from the passengers or towards them? I have them facing away currently -- as that is what I was always told to do, but then again I see some people mounting their subs inward. Any advice would be great, thanks. Jeff

Well my dumb ass forgot to lock my car at school and someone stole my frigging tweeters. Luckily they didn't get into the trunk (I have my trunk release disabled) or doors, and I always take my HU faceplate with me. After looking around online I don't think that I want to pay $200 for the Alpine tweeters. I have read that the are most likely Vifa ring radiator tweeters. I want something that I can drop in their place for hopefully less than what the Alpine tweeters are. The location of the tweeter is at the top of my door panel all of the way up front. I was happy with this location withe the Alpine tweeters. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Im very new to car audio first car with a stereo i have ever owned actually. So i got a deck and some door speakers i wanted to get a good amp sub and box so i went to a local shop and told him i had a budget of about 300 bucks. he went to the back grabbed a dusty memphis street edge 12" (not even in a box) A memphis street reference 1.250 amp. He then told me a box was 50. He said he would take 325 for all of it. I told him to make it 300 after tax he hardely even hesitated and said okay. I thought i was getting a really good deal thats almost $40 that me "took off" rung me up and the prices are listed as Amp 154.99 Sub 72.00 box 50.15 tax (8.25%) 22.86 300 to…

So I have a dick neighbor that complains everytime he hears any music. Calls the cops everyday apparently. So they setup and undercover down the street and I got pulled over for my loud stereo. He told me the only reason he was there was waiting for me. He asked me how loud my stereo was, and I didnt know exactly how to answer that. He asked me the same question about 3-4 times and I said I dont know how loud it exactly is. Gave me a ticket that says car stereo audible over 50ft. Ive read the noise ordinance and it says this about the subject. "15. Radios, televisions, musical instruments and similar devices. Except as otherwise permitted for noncommercial spoken language…

For those that have not seen my build log which is kind of old it is located here. http://www.soundsolu...og/page__st__30 I am still using 4 old school Rockford Fosgate RFR2215 subs. Since then I decided to do a 4th order wall in my Mountaineer. Just got it in this past weekend and in time for Slamology. Here are a few pictures Design It was designed so I can pull it back out and go back to my ported box if I need to I took this 2x2 support out and used pipe and flanges instead. A lot more strength It was a tight fit but my friend and I managed to lift this box and get it in there. Loading wall and port in Used a pool noodle to seal around the edge of the wall…
