I have a Pioneer DEH-P3900MP and I gave it to my bro who installed it in his 05 Hyundai Sonota and when he was wiring it up he use pliers to cut all the cables off the stock wiring harness and he said that all the wires touched for a second when he cut all the wires so it made a spark, but after he got it all wired up it was working. He then screwed it in and put everything back together and the HU wouldn't play any sounds even though it was powered on and the volume was all the way up. He replaced the Audio and Clock fuses with new ones and there is still no sound. What could be the problem for why there is no sound?

When it comes down to the option of which way to fire your subs and port in a trunk I was wondering did the amount of power you were running made a difference if you have to fire your subs forward (into the cabin) or to the rear (back of the trunk)? I know that it can be a personal preference and is ususally done when people are competing or wanting more output fro m there setup but I was just curious does power level play a role even if it is a daily driver. On a side note I have heard some of the low end is sacrificed when forward firing as well since it takes the waves longer to bounce off something, will a lower tuning help out with this issue? Will the issue be that …

Hi everybody, I need to buy some parts for my next sub box. I need 2 flared ports with elbows, and 1 or 2 pairs of binding posts. I found everything on part-express, but I need another shop because of their sales conditions (they only accept wire transfers, not Paypal from my country! they charge me $25 for the transfer !!!) I will look up on ebay, but I think you can help me here ! thanks for all your informations.

I've searched for answers, but I've not been able to find anything definitive. Sorry, this will not be a short question. On most crossovers that we find on car amplifiers, there is a range silk screened on the crossover, let's say 50 hz. -500 hz. I don't know if the slope actually matters if you can get far enough away from the crossover point or disable the crossover. I believe that the setting on the crossover is the -3bd down point, but there isn't a way to know what your setting it to by looking at the potentiometer and the numbers on the amp. Allot of things I've read on this topic are extremely vague. Maybe I'm not asking the question correctly in my search. Such a…

So I've called 6 shops in my area and none of them have a term lab or any sort of meter. I don't feel like shelling out $700+ for a term lab. Am I basically SOL?

Today i hooked an amp up to my front stage. Sounds great, except for the buzzing i can hear when music is paused. My amp for the front stage is grounded the same way my amp for my sub is, and yet i still get buzzing. It's kind of a high pitched buzzing, with really high pitched sounds mixed in that kind of fluctuate. It only buzzes when there's a source though. Once i plug my iphone into the head unit, the buzzing starts. And using the touch screen on the iphone, such as scrolling, makes a sound. I can hear it whenever i scroll with the screen. My head unit can't be the problem. I used to have a low rumble with my sub (like this buzzing) and i fixed the ground on my hea…

OK so I am new to the SSA forum. I have made my noob intro on the noob intro page already and now I am making my 1st official post. So, I have a new 2010 VW CC R-Line. It has the Premium 8 non-Dynaudio system. The system is mediocre at best. I really like the head unit however. I like the functions and the way it looks. So I want to keep that! The speakers have to go. There are two comp sets. I believe the front set is something like a 7" woofer and a 1" tweet. Rear is 6.5" woofer and 1" tweet. So basically any 6.5" comps will work. Mounting depth is good so anything 3" or less will work. I am getting this 5 channel Kenwood amp . Why? Because I like it's small footprint (…

Alright so when I get out of college soon i plan on buying a Mitsubishi Evo as I am completely in love with them lol. Ive got an Fi BL 15 now and it just doesn't do it for me, not loud enough at all. I would love to have a ridiculously loud setup for the next car, and was considering an SUV so I can go even louder, but hate driving them. What is the loudest setup I can put in a car without walling it off and without worrying about the windshield cracking on me? Would love to stick with Fi and upgrade to btl's. Would one Fi btl 18 be too much, or two btl 15's? How many watts roughly until i have to worry about the windshield?

Hey guys..im not really sure if this is the right section to put this in, so if its not fell free to move it. Well tonight i got all my wires ran through my car for the new sub. We got everything ran, amp hooked up, sub hooked up, and it all worked perfect. The sub sounded fine. I went out for a little drive with a couple buddies, and we had the music up at a decent volume just to here how loud the bass could get. When we got back to my house we sat and listen to it for a little bit longer doing the same thing. Car was running the whole time. I went to get into the car to change to a different song and i noticed that my check gauges light was on, and that the temperature…

I was rolling through an industrial area, an area right before i get to the center of the town i live in, and had my windows down with the volume pretty high. I was playing "Party and Bullshit" by Tech N9ne (good song) and as i was going through a light, there was a cop at a red light to the left. I muted the music instantly, but he followed me a little bit, eyed my sub in the back and then pulled me over. I knew i was screwed once i saw him. Still haven't got a court date in the mail. I would think I would have at least got a warning first, but nope. I don't blast with my windows down anymore though, it can be heard from way to far away. I don't know how much the fine i…

Either one will be in ~2.8^3 after displacements tune to 30-32Hz. Q 15D2 would be run with an AP15001D. Xcon 15D2 would be run by an AP18001D. This will be a daily ground pounder setup that I might throw in a bass race when a show comes town. Looking to be musical, get low, and still be loud. Electrical will be a 140 amp ho alt, red top up front, 100ah in trunk. Which choice do you think would better suit my wants? Thanks.

Hi guys, I bought a PAC Audio adapter to "add an amp" to my factory stereo. The adapter runs around $100 from the PAC site, so I did a little price checkin' around the net. I found a great deal on ebay for $75. shipped from a car dealership out of New York. So I ordered. Everything arrived great, got it installed, and started tweeking the amp. Everything worked great for 2 weeks, when all of a sudden the PAC part burned up. I contacted PAC and they told me they can't help me because I bought it from a NON-AUTHORIZED DEALER. What a funkin' joke I think PAC stands for Piece-O-Chit. So anyway, I think I'll keep my factory set-up and buy an older vehicle so I dont have to mes…

Currently in my car I have a pair of Alpine SPR-13Ss (http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/spr-13s/), and I also have an 18" SSD @ 32hz in a 9cuft box. The SSD is extremely loud, and depending on the song, tends to drown out my fronts. So I was looking at trying to run some pro audio so I can get a clear and loud front stage that can be heard over my sub. I was reading some threads, and saw these tweets: Selenium ST350 Super Tweeter I'm sure they will more than outperform my current tweeters. I was also looking at this midbass: Selenium 10PW3-SLF 10" Driver The only problem with 10" midbass is making custom pods for my doors. I have never done anything like that, and w…

Hey all It seems the general consensus is to use 14"-16" or port area per cube for slot ports, and that flared round ports (aka aeroports) are recommended @ 8"-12" per cube... Now I was thinking about fabricating a port out of Sonotube or the like, and possibly creating some flared ends using fiberglass... What would be a good port area to shoot for? I was figuring if I used a 10" tube that would give me ~78in² Av which for a 6.5ft³ enclosure after displacements nails it right at 12" per cube. For an 18" driver. Thanks

I don't think I've seen any boats on here yet, so I decided to take a few pictures of a customer boat I did at work today. It's still in progress. He have 2 10" Kenwood Sub, one in each compartment in fron and 2 Kenwood Coax speakers in the back. There are 2 more sets going in the front in the walk through or under the benches. All powered by the New Kenwood XR5s 5 channel amp and an Excelon Deck. This thing ROCKS! it's loud and definitely a beach party boat. It has been party proofed so no drunk people fry everything! Heres some Pictures. Even with a Set of 6.5 Coax speakers, this thing gets loud! The customer remove all the carpet and the seats for our con…
