i have 3 seats in the front bench of my truck. when i sit in the middle, the imaging is pretty good. the singer's voice is in the center, guitars/drums/etc in their proper places. however, when i sit in the driver's seat, the horizontal bias is horrible. sometimes i hear the left tweeter a lot since its pretty close to my head (a-pillar), other times i hear my right mid over everything else (maybe cuz its more on axis?). the tweeters arent mounted for perfect imaging rite now cuz i dont have time to glass the flush mount cups to the a-pillars. theyre mounted above ear level and kinding pointing to the stomach of the middle seat so maybe thats the cause? lemme know whatcha…

  5. OK so as you guys know im overseas in germany right now. i went to a local car shop today and asked how much it would cost to build me a box for my Massive Audio DMX stg2 subwoofer and he quoted me 150-200 euros which is about $200-$300 for this build. the box would be made of MDF and will be carpeted. i asked about bracing and if he could build it in birch instead he didnt know what that was. the language barrier owns me and this guy. I asked him if i got the materials if he could build the sub and he said yes. so theres an option. I hear Birch is stronger and lighter, but harder to cut and you have to prep and sand the area, blah blah. anyway is this a good deal? I was …

(just to stir a little traffic) today, i will be building a box to go in a x-cab ranger that will hold three memphis pr12's. it will be a shared chamber 6ft^3, with 62.5in^2 of port and tuned to 35hz. these will be pushed by a mtx 1501d bieng shown 2.6 ohms (the subs are dual4, will be series, parallel), so i'm guess around 1000-1200 wrms. i've already replaced all four factory speakers with memphis pr5x8's (major improvement) being pushed by a rf 100a2(yep, the 5x8's are bridged left and right side [they are 4 ohm] so no fade) all being directed by a eclipse h/u. i'll get the model number tomorrow. pics either sunday night or monday night. now, my silverado will be losin…

If my crossover has a low pass filter that ranges from 40-400 hz, does that mean whatever I set it too is the highest frequency it will play? Also, does that mean that 40 hz is the lowest it will play?

  8. Hello guys i have recently pulled all the factory crap out of my truck and ordered some things but i have a few problems. I bought a set of Cadence CVLT-35B tweeters along with a pair of Selenium St-200s i also purchased two pair of Alpine SPS-500(i know i could have gotten components just didnt want to) . The amp i have is a Hifonics HFi100.4 and the headunit is a Pioneer AVH-P5200BT. At the time of purchase i didnt know the seleniums needed a bass blocker of some sort so i searched and came across using an active crossover. My question is would i be able to use what i have listed with the addition of a crossover or should i buy a separate amp for the tweeters? The cros…

Hi guys, so I connected a 12" kicker cvr to my hifonics 1000.1D on the bridged terminals on the amp but at the same time I connected a Rockford p3 8" on the two remaining terminals on the amp. I noticed that my kicker isn't hitting as hard. I'm curious to know if the connected could possibly causing me to have a loss of power?

i have 2 skar 12's and a alpine m500 wired to 4ohms(changing amp soon) and it sounds like theres a sound coming from the sub that is not supposed to. it sounds like a high pitched rattle noise and im almost sure its not my car rattling because it will make that sound when the music is not very loud and the subs are only getting 150 watts each. i will make a vid tomorrow but does anyone think they know what this sound is? if you need any more info let me know

  15. For starters I my name is Matt, I use to have an account on here but I am guessing from the cause of inactivity my account was deleted. I haven't been on here in quite sometime. Probably almost, I don't know to to be honest. I wanted to seek help from all of you from SSA Forums, because I bought 2 12" D2 SSA XCONS, and 2 sundown audio 1500d's almost a year ago. I wanted to bebuild my box for the subs, and I wanted to ask from you guys a little help, lessons, and knowledge from you guys. I am not a pro at car audio nor audio in general. In all honesty, I am an idiot, but I like learning about anything and everything. I have had systems in the past, but what made me buy the…

  17. Hello once again, last time I wrote here I was debating on getting 2 10's, and a amp looking to spend maybe about $500 to $600, then I stopped chasing a dream that was a bit out of my grasps... I've always loved car audio, my friend "Hove" who is a member here who is the one who got me into all this mess lol, has had a system since jr high school. So needless to say, I'd like to introduce myself, and say the last time I spoke here I planned on limiting myself to overstock mass production MTX crap with a box and amp built into it, lol. Some how my buddy "Hove" talked me into getting something else... So heres what i ordered... I ordered: Sundown Audio SAZ-1000D FI BL 15" i…

So my front speakers stopped working and its not a big deal they were cheapo sony 5 1/4"'s, temporary until I got my components. And it was raining one day while I had the speakers were out and I saw the amount of water that runs down the door and gathers at the bottom and then drains out.. This cannot be good for my speakers, and considering there was rust on the back of the burnt up speakers this has to be the culprit. I was planning on putting a nice set of components in but there is no point if they are just gonna get destroyed by rain water.. What would you guys do?

So I'm building a ported box and i am definitely a noob at all this. I have 2 jl audio 12w6 and online they give me all the measurements for the ported box. My problem is i'm confused on the tuning aspect of ported enclosures. I'm going to give you all a link to jls website at the bottom that tells you all the measurements for the box. Now if i have this right all i have to do is fallow the port measurements (and all the other measurements of course) and my box will be tuned to 32hz right? http://www.jlaudio.com/12w6v2-d4-car...-drivers-92121 go to specifications tab and at the bottom it will say ported enclosure specifications I know its only for one subwoofer but it sa…

  21. As the title says, I hooked up my SSA Icon 12 to 200w today Since my Audioque 1200 doesnt come until Thursday and I noticed a few things... 1. Looks like I will definitely need to buy new speakers and amp them. 2. I severely underestimated this sub. This thing is a monster on only 200w 3. I have a ton of work to do to get rid of the insane rattle going on in the back. This is probably one of the loudest systems ive heard to date and its only on 200w right now. Ive never been so impressed by a single sub on such low wattage ever.

I'm looking for low weight, basically. Rigidity isn't a huge concern because my box will only be 1 cube and in an L-shape, so all the corners and small panel sizes should make it pretty stiff regardless. I may also add a second baffle on front to countersink the sub. Birch is getting up over 60 dollars a sheet, though (5' x 5'). MDF weighs twice as much and half the price. Is there anything else readily available at most lumber yards that would do the job for less?
