I have been out of car audio for about 10 years and im trying to figure out what equipment is still hitting hard and whats new lol. Ok Im putting a system in a 07 Nissan Versa (small 4 door Hatch) and need some help. Im looking for a nice SQ system that can get a little loud also, I do not plan on any SPL competition. I need some recommendations on the list below that are undecided. Also any input on the equipment I already own. Are the Polks any good, Lanzars any good?... I listen to all types of music but metal (Disturbed, Rammstein, Metallica) is what I normally listen to, I also listen to rap. Yeah Im a mess lol. So what do you think I should get? Lets say I have a b…

  4. My company is developing the industry's first line of factory replacement headunits. They require no dash kit and wiring harness on various model vehicles which are entirely "Bolt-n-Replace" with factory look, often factory functionality as well as like steering wheel controls and in-demand features like Bluetooth, Navigation, iPod, XM, Sirius Satellite and DVD. We need Sound Solutions Audio to help us strategize which features and model vehicles would be best. We're launching next month with models for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Buick, Chevy, Hummer, Pontiac, Saturn, Suzuki, Toyota, Scion and Volkswagen with more to follow and want to ensure that we…

This was brought to my attention in thread on another board. The sub continuous power ratings had changed on the website and a couple poster mentioned that they'd be willing to bet it came from retailers complaining about losing sales because the stuff wasn't rated as high as others, even though you don't have to be a rocket scientist to look at the motor structure and suspension on a 13W6 a know it can handle just a tad more than 500W continous. I was surprised however at how much they had underated their stuff. I always figured it was by 100-150W max, but most of them jumped at least 200W. Anyways, I contacted my buddy JC at Audio Advisors, who are the biggest retailer…

So I'm competing in MECA this year (been going to the comps the last year but never had my subs in when i went) and I'm building my daughter a power wheels for MECA Kids. shes in the 5 and under class so I can only run a single 8 and no bigger than a 20a fuse to the amp. So I picked up a cheap h/u and a pair of 4x6 were given to me. I'm getting a memphis 50.2 to run the sub, just because I know the punishment my friends and I have put these amps through. So my 2 questions are this. 1, What battery would you use with limited space to keep it playing. I found Kinetik HC600 for 60 bucks new online and figured it was a pretty good candidate since it fit in the limited room I …

i have 2 skar 12's and a alpine m500 wired to 4ohms(changing amp soon) and it sounds like theres a sound coming from the sub that is not supposed to. it sounds like a high pitched rattle noise and im almost sure its not my car rattling because it will make that sound when the music is not very loud and the subs are only getting 150 watts each. i will make a vid tomorrow but does anyone think they know what this sound is? if you need any more info let me know

I know the big 3 can't hurt, but I'm on a super tight budget. I have a nissan maxima which apparently has a 100amp alternator. My set up includes a D-class mono amp that is rated at 340rms at 4ohms. I'll also be running a set of front components off an A/B two channel that does 100rms per channel at 4ohms. So playing it safe and rounding up, thats about 600rms total. Is it worth it to do the big 3? I was considering doing it in 4g, or just waiting to do it when I get more money down the road after a few month. I just dont want any heavy voltage drop or headlight dimming. What do you think? Thanks!

I am going to get a 15" fi btl in my civic, being powered by 2500 watts, and i want to know ways to not let any sound come out of the car. Meaning, even with windows down, i dont want to be heard cuz i dont want to get shit jacked/annoy people. Is there a way to do this, or is it just going to be loud anyways, and i would just need to turn it down at times?

A friend of mine had bought the new mag paired with the Sundown SAE1000. Now this is the first sub that he owns and this is the first time I seen a mag. After searching in vain for box recommendations, I seem to have the conclusions that the mag is for sealed enclosure based on the recommended box volume on their site. Does anyone knows would it shine in ported as well? If yes what would it be the ideal volume and tuning? Also he would like more output in his sub so I might design a ported box for him.

I have a 2008 Mustang GT/CS that I'm in the process of installling a complete system in. I'm ordering either 1 or 2 12" SKAR audio VVX's pushed by a AP15001D, with a custom ported box for the lows. I will be running my audio through a Pioneer AVHP3100DVD HU. I want to replace the factory door speakers so that I have the ability for the sound to not get drowned out by the subs. I'm not looking for the bentley of speakers, so I'm going to try and keep a budget of 500$ for a set of speakers for the doors and an amplifer. Mounting location: Front Doors Size: 6x8" Power: In need of amp Budget: 500$ I've never been in anyones car with a proper audio system so I have no refre…

Ok, so I recently purchased a Dual 1 version of the Fi BL 15'' along with a custom box and a Kicker zx1500.1 I also bought a 5000 watt wiring kit by audiopipe. When i wired everything up, (as shown in the crudly drawn pics) it hardly works. When i turn it up to 18 (max volume is 34, and preffered volume is 26) it shuts off. but it doesn't stay off, if i turn the volume back down it comes right back on. and sometimes it will try to hit @ 18. and hits everyother beat. All in all it doesn't sound good ...at all. I want to know if i wired something wrong, or ...something... idk i just want it fixed! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v172/don...ringdiagram.jpg http://img.phot…

I am a Mecp advanced level installer working on my masters certification, and I was just wondering I work for Best Buy and the certifications are mainly for pay raises because you make a lot more if your certified. Anyway my question is how much does the certifications matter outside of buisness like Best Buy. I have looked at a lot of job opportunites and none of them really seem to care if your certified or not as long as you can install.

1989 Honda CRX Dx well i pretty much stole this car from this lady that was selling it. The car is pretty much flawless inside and out for an 89. has no rust and 214,000 miles. had to get an automatic for the wife. bought this car because the price of gas and my escalade gets 16mpg max on the interstate. well i purchased this car for $1100 from a lady in chicago today. i found it on craiglist and luckily i found it when i did cuz i instantly emailed her and told her i had cash in hand and would pick it up this weekend because she said she had ALOT of people asking about it because she was only asking $1200. i even talked her down $100. WOOT!! sorry bout the pic…

  22. I would do this myself, but being out of the "car audio" loop for 8 months puts me at a pretty serious disadvantage. I still have ALL of my old gear: ehh nothing else worth mentioning. But this being a new truck, I kind of want to start anew. 1) The doors already house a stock 2-way component setup (6x9's low, and a 1" paper tweet). With the speakers out, there is almost 3" of depth in the doors and enough room to fit a 10" driver in (although 7" should be plenty). I'm intrigued by using the stock locations and doing an active 2-way setup. 2) As far as low freq's go, I'm no longer really interested in pounding my brains out. A single beefy 8 should do the trick. Besides,…

Does anyone have any solutions? i believe you can replace just the dustcap right? Also if anyone wants to sell a saz 1500/3000 let me know. Thanks/.

  24. Some background: I have always been a Sundown audio and FI audio fan and those are the products I use. I purchased a 12" BL fully loaded and 1500D sundown to place in my 240sx, I have now upgraded to a 04 Acura TL. I cannot afford a new headunit as the products available are close to one thousand dollars. So, the box is built, the sub is ready, the wiring kit is sitting waiting to be installed. Now where im stuck, So, since i have the stock headunit I will need a line output converter. I am unsure how to install this and how it works. Also I am needing to disable the stock subwoofer. I have been reading about how the stock headunit lowers bass at higher volumes to protect…
