Hello SSA, since I've had nothing to contribute on these forums for over 6 months now, its time to post something usefull when i actually can post something usefull....just recetly I've figured out how to work out the cross-Sectional area of a circle lol, thanks to my boss (Surveyor)...so these figures are quite accurate, they are based of Pi being 3.1416 which is close enought to what it really is!!!! PORT SIZE | Cross-Section Area --------------------------------------------------------------- 1" / 25.4mm | 0.7854 inches 2" / 50.8mm | 3.1416 Inches 3" / 76.19mm | 7.0686 Inches 4" / 101.6mm | 12.5664 Inches 5" / 127mm …

I know the big 3 can't hurt, but I'm on a super tight budget. I have a nissan maxima which apparently has a 100amp alternator. My set up includes a D-class mono amp that is rated at 340rms at 4ohms. I'll also be running a set of front components off an A/B two channel that does 100rms per channel at 4ohms. So playing it safe and rounding up, thats about 600rms total. Is it worth it to do the big 3? I was considering doing it in 4g, or just waiting to do it when I get more money down the road after a few month. I just dont want any heavy voltage drop or headlight dimming. What do you think? Thanks!

This was brought to my attention in thread on another board. The sub continuous power ratings had changed on the website and a couple poster mentioned that they'd be willing to bet it came from retailers complaining about losing sales because the stuff wasn't rated as high as others, even though you don't have to be a rocket scientist to look at the motor structure and suspension on a 13W6 a know it can handle just a tad more than 500W continous. I was surprised however at how much they had underated their stuff. I always figured it was by 100-150W max, but most of them jumped at least 200W. Anyways, I contacted my buddy JC at Audio Advisors, who are the biggest retailer…

Hey guys, I finnaly found the Powerbass forums I have herd so much about! I have been a PBX Dealer for some time, when I first started AJ (who is here on the forums) was my sales rep.....& one hell of a nice guy. We have been competing with PBX very heavily over the last 2 years & absolutly love the stuff. I have been convincing poeple on the car sound & performance forums to try powerbass for a long time, & I am glad to say it was about the 3rd most popular sub at the 04 USACi world finals! My team is the loudest in northen CA, so if any1 wants to E-mail me to get a 2nd opinion with SPL setups (after 1st ofcoarse talking with the folks at pbx) feel free!…

  10. Meade got me motivated but he hadn't made his yet. Here's Hustla Baller and Run Quickly. I had to open all the doors all the way, open the moon roof, and it still had room for more excursion and it still clipped and started to stink. I emailed Scott about a dual 1 recone since a 2500.1 doesn't look to be in the near future. But, while I was bangin, some dudes heard it and one came to take pics/vids along with me, said he was friends with a local shop and gave me his number and email. I wish Meade could have hooked me up, at least he pointed me in the right direction though Oh, Bobbie (my new friend) asked "You mean the Jackhammer?" when I said " I'm gettn a 22". I laughe…

So I'm competing in MECA this year (been going to the comps the last year but never had my subs in when i went) and I'm building my daughter a power wheels for MECA Kids. shes in the 5 and under class so I can only run a single 8 and no bigger than a 20a fuse to the amp. So I picked up a cheap h/u and a pair of 4x6 were given to me. I'm getting a memphis 50.2 to run the sub, just because I know the punishment my friends and I have put these amps through. So my 2 questions are this. 1, What battery would you use with limited space to keep it playing. I found Kinetik HC600 for 60 bucks new online and figured it was a pretty good candidate since it fit in the limited room I …

So, last night I was cleaning up my amp and re-wiring some stuff and fried my amp. Done for. Hifonics Bxi 1206d. Today I finally get my FI btl 12 fully loaded ! YES. I am putting it in it's custom box and i slipped while drilling it in and drill right though the rubber surrounding dust cap. I am very very very very very pissed. Does anyone have any solutions? i believe you can replace just the dustcap right? Also if anyone wants to sell a saz 1500/3000 let me know. Thanks/.

I have been out of car audio for about 10 years and im trying to figure out what equipment is still hitting hard and whats new lol. Ok Im putting a system in a 07 Nissan Versa (small 4 door Hatch) and need some help. Im looking for a nice SQ system that can get a little loud also, I do not plan on any SPL competition. I need some recommendations on the list below that are undecided. Also any input on the equipment I already own. Are the Polks any good, Lanzars any good?... I listen to all types of music but metal (Disturbed, Rammstein, Metallica) is what I normally listen to, I also listen to rap. Yeah Im a mess lol. So what do you think I should get? Lets say I have a b…

So I am running whats in my sig and hit a 147.4 @ 36hz so far. My subs get hot pretty quickly and my goal is to hit 150. I'm sure I could get better numbers with another box as mine is for daily driving music but I like that. I was thinking of trying a new box just to see the difference for now but I'm also thinking of going with a single sub setup as space is limited in my little ranger. If I were to go with a single sub, I was thinking of something with more power handling like a BTL N3 in 15" or 18". Either way, I would like daily 150's. I am very open to suggestions and recomendations. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

in time when money is abundant (thats right, i dont have money for wood) i will build a new box for my xxx. right now i dont like the way it sits in my car facing upward and you can barely see it because the box is so tall. so to remedy this i will have a more flat box with the sub inverted so there is no mounting depth and to give it more area and also to show off the sexyness of the sub and its entirety. al P.S. what should i tune it to, im thinking along the lines of 28, i want to show everyone a big sub isnt sloppy, maybe even lower.

Currently I have one 15" XCON in a ported box powered by a DC Audio 5K at 2 ohms (2300 watts nominal). I built the box with .75" birch and double walled the whole box. I am thinking about getting the new IA Death Penalty and stepping down to a 12" sub. My question is, do you think I should build a double walled box for the 12" DP on a DC 5K at 2 ohms? I don't really want to mess around with dowels for bracing and fiberglass to hold them in. And the XCON is great, I love it, but I have wanted a Death Penalty for a long time and need to step down in size so I can get some trunk room back for an air tank and compressors.

So I was bored tonight and I was going through my iTunes looking for songs that could be used as a show off playlist. I was looking through various artists and importing the audio files into Audacity. When I used the plot spectrum feature the absolute highest peak bass note was at -12db so far. That was a song off a bass cd I have. So that has me wondering. When I set my gains I used a 0 db test tone at 50 hz. I have control of the sub output level via the HU. Now I know songs never hit 0 db, so when I'm really wanting to bump I'll turn the level to +5 which really gets some songs hitting hard. One song that bangs hard is Young Jeezy " My Hood" In looking at the peaks I s…

  24. Hello guys I have a 1995 Mercedes E320 Sedan, and have been figuring out what I should upgrade my amazing skar evl-12 in a 34hz ported box with and I think the best bang for buck option that will make a noticeable difference is the sundown sa classic series from yardsale. I will be powering it with the same amp that I use on my skar(a sundown sfb-1500d), I know they can handle more the 1700w rms but my electrical system will be overdriven if I keep upgrading amps, I think I will put 2 sa classic-12s in a 4.5 cubic ft box tuned to 35hz slightly bigger than the manufacture recommends. I might potentially upgrade to the sia 1750d with 1/0 guage ofc wire in the future. I don…
